All I know is that when I lived in Germany I was about 12 hours ahead of my friends at home. Like Eastern Standard time is 4 hours earlier than Pacific time; so I guess you just keep subtracting an hour for each time zone from here to there; and as you are doing that you pass the Prime Meridian and that is the point they are ahead of us by one day's date.

Well, I can't really sit down and figure it out easily since I don't know where the time zone dividers are either; but in Germany they sell watches that tell several different time zones (including Zulu time) - I had mine set up to display Germany's local time plus Eastern Standard time so I could know what time I was calling friends back in the States and not get them in the middle of the night, lol.
