What is your favorite artifact(s) in the TES universe? Do you prefer the power of the daedric artifacts or do you favor those not associated with the Gods. Do you like to make your own?
For me it's gotta be Azura's star because Azura is the best and the wabbajack because its always good fun!

EDIT: Seriously Vital, wanna? It's Wabbajack, silly :lol :

I'd have to think about artefacts if I'm honest, but I COMPLETELY agree with you about Azura!

While Azura is one of my favorite Daedra, I never liked soul trapping, so I never use her Star. I have tried modding it to do something different, but never had any luck. TBH, of all the Daedric Artifacts the only one my characters have ever used with any regularity is the Skeleton Key. That is simply because as an unbreakable lockpick it is very convenient. Though of course my magician characters use open lock spells, so have no use for it either.

In Oblivion definitely Chillrend. It was the first artifact I ever got and it’s still the favorite. I just think it looks cool. It’s not my favorite sword, though.
Second favorite Oblivion artifact would be the Spelldrinker Amulet. I’ve only gotten it with one character (I think), and it made me realize the awesomeness that is Spell Absorption. Plus, looks cool.

SR, you make a valid point about Azura's Star. While I can't say I've ever thought about not using it for that reason, it's definitely a valid argument that soul-trapping doesn't really suit Azura. I guess it works as a game mechanic but in the lore could be interpreted differently.
Grits, of course, Chillrend! How did I forget Chillrend?! It was also the first artefact I picked up when playing the game initially. Now I usually wait a bit until I'm a slightly higher level, but back then I was doing every quest I saw.

Most of my melee characters go for Azura's star. Combined with a self-enchanted weapon including Soul Trap, the combo feeds itself. None of the weapon artifacts can match one you've made for yourself.
But pure mages can't see the point in having the Star. They don't use weapons, and when they enchant clothing for defence, it stays at maximum strength for ever. Black/Grand soul gems or Sigil Stones are enough. They don't use the Skeleton key either, preferring to use the various Open spells. They might use some of the rings and amulets that are considered Artifacts, such as Namira's. Staves - sometimes, as they're all a bit quirky.
Thieves pick a lot of locks, so they're divided among the ones who like the Skeleton Key for removing the tedium, and the ones who like to practice, and don't get it. The melee characters place this as second choice after Azura's Star, as they won't have the skill/spells to do without it.
Clark likes the Escutcheon of Chorrol. It's not Daedric, but it's unique, and gives him the Reflect Damage even when he's casting spells, just by being equipped. With a ring or two and an amulet, all he has to worry about is arrows! He's a bit of a pacifist, and likes the idea of the enemies hurting themselves.
The Ring of Khajiiti gets occasional use by many of my characters. Sometimes high chameleon is the only answer to psychic guards!

Buffy's fave 'artifacts' are her twin rings - each enchanted with a transcendent sigil stone for a combined range of 360 feet. That kind of range is way overkill for clearing dungeons, but very helpful outdoors traveling to help protect the fragile elf and her precious mare.
Of the in-game artifacts, Azura's Star. We've always pretended that it simply captures the residual magic from dying foes. And we like Azura alot. Even though Buffy's bows are not enchanted, she still carry's the Star. And it's the only in-game artifact she carries.

Well, I've got a soft spot for Volendrung, just because I'm a big fan of warhammers

But Azura's Star has far more utility, and Volendrung's a little underpowered really

Well, I like artifacts, that have physical use. So I can't choose between skeleton key and Spellbreaker.
Without creating a new thread. What is your favorite Daedra Prince? And why?
My vote goes for Sanguine, since he was polite with the TES heroes. And he isn't evil. Having some sins, and bit of fun sometimes doesn't make you a bad person. I think he is most likely the one of all daedric princes, who would probably fit well around mortals.

Clark has actually met a few of them, and he has reason to like
Azura in particular. Do I need to spell out why?

You should make this its own thread. Hijacking is frowned upon

Spelldrinker and Chillrend comes to mind. Useful stuff, both of them

The Skull of Corruption - not only is it difficult to start the related quest, which is one of my favorites, and the reward is very handy for evil characters.

If Lothran had use for it, the Ring oj Kahjiiti would be awesome with its 35% Chameleon. I guess he could use it for its Speed enchantment but he has a good spell for those times when he needs to sprint

Btw, what artifacts are not daedric in origin?

The two I named are not Daedric in origin. Here’s an article about the
artifacts found in Oblivion (game, not planes of), and here’s a short one about
artifacts in general.

Strictly speaking neither Volendrung, nor Spellbreaker, being Dwemeri in origin, despite both being acceptable for the quest "Blood of the Daedra".
Guess they messed up on that one

Apart from the Skeleton Key, which I only got as a cheat, I admit...None of my characters ever had anything to do with Daedric artifacts...
My fave "Thing" in the game is the Escutcheon of Chorrol...Which, depending on the level where you did the quest for it, had a different (higher) damage reflect percentage...

...That, and it's absolutely gorgeous too...

...
Chillrend is a close second though...Another gorgeous thing...But, like Grits, not one to use long-term, but looks lovely on a sideboard...

The Ring of Hircine. Just imagine you have some bad condition where you turn into a monstrous wolf and kill innocent people on the regular basis or hurt your loved ones. Yet you like that power so much you couldn't help but want to control it once and awhile . . . unlimited transformations. Total control!
Ring of Hircine it is. And the Spear of Bitter Mercy is another one I like.
The Mace of Molag Bal is good too, ideal for those pesky mages!
