Sometimes mine slips a little in the low gears. Thankfully no grinding.

What grinds my gears is the fact it�s too goddamn easy to declare a company bankrupt here, even when it�s fine.

And what grinds your gears is me nagging about it

Not really- any of us that have been "made redundant" feel what you are feeling- and it is even more so as you LIKED the work.

Well- my 1966 Mustang used to decide she did not want to be in second gear and would pop herself into neutral.

Later, the linkage would hang between first and second... which could be... interesting.

Still I miss the old girl (sniffle).

Reality TV...I hate it...And 'cause we've got satellite there's about seventeen bazillion (*Approx) channels dedicated to the damned stuff...Aaaand guess who loves it?...Yep, the wife...Grrrrr...AAARGH!! and other noises...

Yeah, if I wanted reality, I would just turn off the tv and go outside. Or go to work. I watch movies or use the comp to get away from reality.

What grinds my gears is when a show you watch does their season finale and it isn't satisfying at all because there's no closure but you know that when they resume you'll be addicted again.

Being constantly reminded by people who I respect and have an immense amount of time for...That my opinions on stuff don't count and are somehow wrong...

Here's one! People who refuse to respect other people's perspective on things and how things should be done. I've encountered these people this week again in real life. Generally, the lack of open-minded people infuriate me.

Yes. These type of people irk me as well.

How ironic that being open-minded and respectful means we most likely will not stoop to their levels...

I forget who said it exactly, and I forget precisely the words were, but to paraphrase to the best of my understanding:

"The problem with the world is that the best are filled with caution and reasonable doubt, and the worst are filled with confidence and self-assurance."

I have a classic example of this. We are working at a house that needs tons of work for a real estate agent. We are going to make it "marketable". Anyway, repainting is a large part of it. Walls and ceilings. So, I am doing the drywall repairs while my business partner is masking off areas that aren't getting painted, namely, the floor. He lays two strips of masking tape along the baseboards and then breaks out the paint and starts painting them.

I'm like, "Dude, why are you getting a paint brush wet before we protect everything? If we protect everything first, we don't have to switch tasks so often."

You would have thought I killed his mother...He started going off about how "we need to make it look like we got something done and that I should worry about what I am doing and not what he's doing".

I just shrugged and went back to what I was doing. 5 minutes later, he was finishing all the protection first, like I suggested. Why the fuss then?

Yes, I agree...Which I think makes my point - in many places - a whole lot more precisely...Thanks DE...



Because - to him - you were telling him what to do...And people don't like that...And once he'd gotten over the knee-jerk reaction and thought about it and actually seen it was a good idea, and realised that he'd been an ass...He did what he should have in the first place...but, of course, will - in a manleh way - completely fail to say that it was anyones, except his, idea...
