I don't know if anyone has come across this before, it looks like it's been out a while but I've only just heard about it.

As usual, waaay behind the times.

Now, I'm one of those old fashioned people when I write. Index cards with scene names scattered all over the floor, notebooks full of...well, notes, snippets of dialogue, descriptions etc and I hand write everything before typing it up. A slow and painful process as your average turtle can type faster than I can. This seems like it's been designed to replicate that exact process, on the pc, potentially speeding things up quite a lot.

Anybody have any experience with the program? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts before I splash out my money. smile.gif

I've never used it, but I do see a button on the page that offers a free trial. If you are truly interested, download that first and give it a whirl.

My opinion? You'll never change your writing process. It'll always be note cards and notebooks. tongue.gif

Must admit it looks rather cool. For me, I really do not "plan"- unless by planning one means that I kinda sorta have an idea where I want the story to go and then have to figure out how to get there.

I have gotten to the place where I can compose at the keyboard, but I still find myself going back to notebook and pen to work through blocks or important sections.

I do think the free trial would be worth checking, especially if it looks like the tools are a good fit for your existing process.

I keep all of my notes in text files. Simple enough, and I can always find what I need.

I used the trial version for a while, and I really liked it; I found it handy for writing essays as well, and the way the notes and the chapters combined with one another was really pretty useful. The only reason I didn't get the full version was because I couldn't afford it at the time, but now that you've reminded me about it I might just go back and get it.

I'm going to give it a whirl I think. I just got paid, so it'll make a nice change to spend my money on something more useful than Vodka for once...

Hi all,

I use Scrivener for most of my writing for the past four years. I did use it for OHDH but it got so big that Scrivener started having trouble handling edits and changes. So I went back to the usual WP for the rest of my fiction. But for smaller stuff Scrivener is great!

Woo Hoo! It's haute! Yes- I know- completely off-topic. So let's see. That is good to know. If I ever thought about actually organizing my thoughts, Scrivener would likely be quite helpful

And also- welcome back!

Well, thank you little treydoggie! I thought of you the other day when someone brought an adorable little dachshund named Corey into the store. Corey loved meeting everybody and wagged his adorable little heinie off the entire time! He even befriended a small boy who approached him (carefully, I was glad to see).

Couldn't keep quiet about one of my favorite applications. Scrivener is originally developed for the Mac, but they have come out with a Windows version. I love that it has a corkboard, sections for research, and so on. I'm trying out Storymill, but I may go back to Scrivener for most of my writing. Unfortunately OHDH has grown much too large for it. verysad.gif
