King Of Beasts
One of my favorite video game monsters has got to be the creeper from minecraft. As annoying as they are, they're simply epic. Even if they do blow up my stuff rolleyes.gif
Colonel Mustard
Very new arrival, but the Hummingbird from Bioshock Infinite. That thing is just incredible. In fact, while we're on Bioshock, the Big Daddies from the original were absolutely superb as well.

Oh, and the Vortiguants from Half Life. No, Striders! No, Headcrab zombies! No, wait, Combine Soldiers! No, Combine Hunters! In fact, all the stuff from the Half Life games!
SubRosa
Probably the Imps from Doom I. I loved dodging their fireballs and shotgunning them.
King Of Beasts
The big daddies and little sisters from bio shock were pretty cool. They always killed me though.

They´re babies compared to Doom 3 Hell Knights cool.gif

If the meaning of this thread is about monsters that creeps me out, I think those win. I wouldn´t hesitate setting off the Mini Nuke in my hand if one approached me, just to "escape" it. That is, if I could even move..
King Of Beasts
I just remembered! Hell hounds from COD: WaW were pretty creepy, and hard to kill
ghastley
A few of us here are old enough to remember the Wumpus! In its earliest incarnations it was too fearsome to even allow the player to see it.

Ghosts from Pacman XD

Does monsters in human form count? Then it's definitely Irenicus. My favorite and best-written villain ever.

Strictly monster... my favorite is probably spider-like boss from TR1. Simply because it was first real monster that I encountered in my childhood and I was really afraid of it then.
King Of Beasts
My neighbor is playing with his chainsaw again blink.gif

I'm a bit nervous unsure.gif

Shamblers from Quake. They're huge, white, blood covered, monsters that kill you very quickly. They're pretty scary.

That and librarians from Metro 2033. They're massive, theow you around like a rag doll, and are very resistant to normal weapons.

Actually several creatures from Metro get my nomination.

I think I know the scariest monster in a game; the tennis balls in the Barbie game on the NES. Yikes! ohmy.gif

blink.gif ...*Can't quite believe Microu actually wound up playing the Barbie game*... tongue.gif ...

I agree with Mustard...The original Big Daddies from Bioshock were cool...As was that thing that kept jumping out and scaring the living...Stuffing* out of me... blink.gif ...

I am not voting based on what I think is most frightening. The demons from Doom I might have a lock on that. Those guys scared the crap out of me back in the day. Instead I am voting on what I have the most fun fighting, and that is definitely the Doom 1 Imps. You could step into a room with a dozen of them, dodge fireballs left and right, and take them all down with the trusty shotgun. All with Belinda Carlisle on the cd player. Good times.

Doom 3 was very frightening but I hated how it almost exclusively focused on cheap scares.

I hated how I could not see the %*#*!! game I was playing. I could have just skipped buying the game, walking into my closet and turned out the light, and played a scary soundtrack. It would have been the same experience.

Well the main problem for me is that at first it was really good and at the time it came out the graphics and lighting were among the best in the video game world but aside from that it was very predictable.

It always goes exactly the same, you walk into a dark room, your flashlight stops working, and then you get attacked by demons from behind.

Had to try it out to see if it worked, you know cool.gif

What bugged me the most with Doom 3 is that for some sick, stupid and completely insane reason you could not hold the flashlight in one hand while using the pistol! Why!? I say, why!?!?!? wasn´t that possible??? You could hold up a rifle with your left hand so it wasn´t crippled or anything. So why couldn´t you hold the flashlight in your left hand??

Stupid id Software dry.gif

For me, the Lightkeeper Grahl from Bloodmoon is fun, because it is a unique creature, rather than one clearly modeled on something else.

In the same game, the Udyrfrykte (or Underwear Monster, as I dubbed it) is disappointing. It is built up as this really scary, big bad thing.

And then it looks like a guy from a low-rent carnival in a cheap gorilla suit.

I like stomping Goombas biggrin.gif
