Says on UESPwiki that you'll be able to travel to Solstheim. Dear god!

Edit: seems that there already was a topic regarding that matter, oh well.

I can't wait! biggrin.gif Argh, I'll have to wait until January.

I refuse to be intimidated by a fool whose lower face looks like an...Um...

laugh.gif ...

Kinda like the teacher from Pink Floyd's The Wall...Y'know?... biggrin.gif ...

Otherwise...Looks cool and exciting and enjoy much of the new designs...Well done...

Look forward to watching other people play this on Youtube... biggrin.gif ..

*Applauds heartily*...

I have to admit this looks like a lot of fun. I loved the little glimpses we had to the new Solstheim, especially the Dunmer city, where I noted some distinctly Redoran-style bug shell buildings. Not to mention a return of the mushroom trees (which were in Morrowind before the Shivering Isles). I also noticed an arena, for those pining for one in Skyrim.

The ship ride there looked very intriguing too. I wonder if that was a pre-done cutscene you get when traveling from Skyrim to Solstheim, or if it was real-time (which would mean being able to sail on ships in real time in the game!)

The big bad sounds interesting too. A dragon-born bad guy. (and he does look like the teacher from The Wall! biggrin.gif) I am not sure how this guy "devouring them" is any different from the player character eating dragon souls though... I am just hoping that you will not have to finish the main quest before doing this. Or a workaround becomes available. Otherwise I will never be able to play this.

I think the big bad is using the Peryite follower's puke effect too. Eeewwww! And was that old school zombies I saw?

Looks like another X-Box exclusive again too. So much for it being the first two DLCs. I guess Microsoft ponied up another bribe so their console could get special treatment. Not that Bethesda ever intends to release it on PS3 of course. Makes me wonder why Microsoft is bothering with bribery in the first place? With the PC version being on Windows only, it is still on their platform.

I am SUPER excited about this. I was not excited about Dawnguard, and I loved it. So, wow. VERY excited. hehe.gif

What makes you think he/s a bad guy? He may just be an antagonist.

Same thing. Whoever the top enemy is behind everything you have to fight is always the Big Bad.

Honestly, it looks like Bethesda has finally figured out how to sell DLC to fans of their games. There was a huge outcry for crossbows, vampires, some of the armors from MW, a housing DLC, and a visit to another part of Tamriel. I also like that in the last dlc they

I wish they'd make an expansive DLC that explained just how the dwarves were wiped out. Finally give us the answer on what happened to them. Then again some things are best left as mysteries I suppose. It is very possible that no matter what they came up with at this point it would never satisfy the fans.

I'll be buying the new DLC just to revisit Solthseim and see some of the old sights in high definition plus a few new places it seems. Riding dragons doesn't interest me a whole lot personally but I can see the allure, lots of people have thought it'd be fun.

I also think that this "Fighting another Dragonborn" is a great idea. After all, There Can Be Only One. Extra bonus points if he's the equivalent of the Kurgan. I wonder if I can get Clancy Brown to do some side-job voice work before the next season of Spongebob Squarepants starts production...

Early in the Main Quest Arngeir warns against being tempted into the arrogance of power that has been the downfall of many Dragonborn who came before. That sounded very promising to me. Maybe this new content will fulfill it, or at least provide more for the anti-hero to work with.

Finally some news for PC and PS3 players
http://www.bethblog.com/

Dragonborn is launching Feb 5th on Steam.

PS3 is more vague, but they say Feb. They say all content will be 50% off when it comes.

I think that Dragonborn comes out for PS3 on the 5th as well, and then Hearthfire and Dawnguard follow on after that in the rest of February.

Got to say, it's good of Bethesda to give PS3 owners a reduction in the DLC, considering that they've got a bit of a bum deal. I can see a good number of companies not even bothering doing that sort of thing.

About damn time.

YAY!!... biggrin.gif ...Well, the family McB are rejoicing and this means that Dragonborn and Hearthfire will be bought as soon as they come out...Dawnguard, we'll have to see if the bugs have been ironed out before that gets bought...(the wife will not be pleased at Ghost Towns appearing...)...

But still, yay!!...And many...Um...Props? *Completely fails to be hip and withit y'all*...Um...Aaamywho...Top joys to Bethesda for the reduction...

Hmmm *checks blog* They said: "PC and PS3 fans, prepare to cast off. Next month, you will travel to Solstheim..."

Good catch. laugh.gif

Yay! Still, I think I’ll pass on the 50% off Dragonborn during launch week just to see if it ends up as a disaster (PS3).

Thanks for the update! smile.gif

Annoying that they've kept it to only one week if you ask me.

But at the same time I'm so glad it's finally here for the PS3, we really got shafted.

It's out now, at least on pc.

So I'll be giving my first impressions from storming through the thing with my good friend Dreams-of-Warm-Boots

Dear journal, have just arrived at Solstheim. Warm boots are cold now, makes me sad. Volcano is pretty though and tapped tentacles with cute netches. Also found nice sword, better than hammer. Me is happy now. That's nice for you, Dreams. That's nice.

On the whole, I like what I've seen of it thus far. Dragonborn's location is made with the Morrowind nostalgiast in mind. The Dlc is simply chockful of references to the Bloodmoon expansion, both in places, in characters, lore and even some quests. But don't think that Solstheim is a carbon copy of the island from Bloodmoon. It isn't and it shouldn't be. The general shape is the same however and there are the aforementioned locations, if often reimagined and quite possibly moved and lets not forget the addition of new places to go. The reimagining mostly draws on existing assets from Skyrim so barrows now look like Skyrims instead of the square blocks of Bloodmoon.

Solstheim is mainly populated by Dunmer now, Morrowind Dunmer. Though they don't have the awesome gravelly voice back, that means you too can be called a fetcher once more! And as Dreams wrote in his journal, they imported netches and other animals that call back to Vvardenfell. And btw, I love that they added Red Mountain to the skybox.

On the new front, there is more lore and books regarding the dragons for the sake of connecting the expansion with the main game. I've also explored a bit of a new type of dungeon. And while I'll refrain from saying too much cause of spoilers, I have to say it is visually a very interesting departure from the old dungeons and ruins. Linear as always but very...creepy and with a nice sense of scale.

There are also more weapons and armours and more shouts for the interested adventurer. But I haven't really looked into that aspect much up to this point. Dreams is very happy with his furs, they keep him warm.

The quests I've triggered and finished so far aren't bad either. I've met some nice characters in it. The worst of the lot is the intro that sends you off to Solstheim in the first place, however. It's a bit abrupt and very blunt in setting up the main quest. Pretty much the same way the Tribunal expansion was introduced for guess what, Morrowind. But ah well. New island to explore, new stuff to loot. Live is good.

In short, the expansion may or may not be worth the price to you, and morrowind vets may be a bit angry at some of the things they did after they were done plundering the countryside. but it is definitely a lot bigger than say Hearthfire and I'm pretty sure it also beats Dawnguard in content.

Now that is an excellent Argonian name! goodjob.gif

Solshteim? Full of Dunmer? Let us send a tribe of argonians there and see how long that will stay for.
