Feel free to add to this if you want. So far, I can confirm a couple known issues here.
PC Issues
PC 1. Skyrim was not designed to be played with V-Sync off, and as such framerates beyond 60 FPS can cause major physics bugs and flashing water (accompanied by severe slowdowns). If you wish to not use V-Sync, you will need to limit your FPS using the FPS Capper tool.
ADDENDUM: It has also been confirmed that disabling V-Sync in the game using the iPresentInterval=0 tweak will cause the game calendar to gradually become De-synchronized with the clock, resulting in day turnovers at gradually later and later times. I have checked and it appears that 10 AM is when today becomes tomorrow in my game, and that can cause severe problems for AI schedules relying on a certain day. This cannot be fixed or worked around in any way.
PC 2. Skyrim has an audio bug, and often crashes if you have your audio setting too high. So you have to reduce your computer's sound quality to fix this:
In Windows 7:
Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound
You will see your default sound device. Click it, then click properties.
Go to the Advanced Tab, make sure the default format is set to 44.1Khz 16-bit.
Hit Apply/OK, then run Skyrim.
In Windows Vista:
Go to Control Panel > Sound
Find your default sound device (the one that is checked). Click it, then click properties.
Go to the Advanced Tab, make sure the default format is set to 44.1Khz 16-bit.
Hit Apply/OK, then run Skyrim
PS3 Issues
PS3 1. After approximately 20 to 30 hours of gameplay (to be more precise, once your savegame file size eclipses 6Mb), the game's framerates in exterior environments will drop significantly. There is currently no fix for this, Bethesda will need to address this one themselves.
Xbox 360 Issues
XBX 1. Installing the game to your hard drive introduces a bug where a large number of textures are not scaled properly, and appear at a lower resolution than they should. You can uninstall the game from your drive and play off the disc to prevent this. Patch is pending.

Can I just fatuously add that the PS3 bug is that it's a poorly designed and executed engine that needed more testing and not just shoving out to stick to a stupid, self-imposed deadline?...(GT5 anyone?)...
And that the cure is switching it off?..
That's all...

I'll take it you are referring to the PS3 version's general bad performance?
I'll add that on, too.

Not an engine bug as such but more of a scripting bug causing an anomaly.
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!
On xBox 360 In the Innocence Lost quest, my character waited until Grelod was seated at a table in a room by herself.
In Sneak mode, closed the door. Sniped her (one shot- one kill)
The body then teleported out of that room- through the closed door- and into the next room.
Apparently this was so the player character could hear the reaction of the orphans

xBox 360- Doing the Forbidden Knowledge quest- upon killing Mikrul- his body cannot be looted. And the point of the quest (besides the Word at the exit to the crypt) is to get a fragment of an amulet from him.
Fix- save the game after you have killed him and then reload. Body should be searchable.

It has been reported by numerous people that Patch 1.2 has broken magic resistances (the game ignores them) and dragons are now behaving very erratically (flying through cliffs, flying backwards, etc).
I will report back if Bethesda plans to hot-fix these.

If you're using 1.2 and want a fix for the bugged resistances right now, consider getting the
Skyrim Script Extender. They found the cause for the bug and fixed it right up.

Noting this one because it does not seem to match up with the information posted elsewhere.
I received the Shalidor's Insights quest from Urag at the Arcanaeum- and it points me to Potema's Catacombs in the Temple of the Divines in Solitude. Apparently, that location is tied to a completely DIFFERENT quest- The Wolf Queen Awakened.
The actual location for Shalidor's Insights is supposed to point to one of several random locations- none of which are Potema's Catacombs.

My blasted bookshelf in Breezehome is broken. Apparently- I either
1. Tried to put a quest item book on it
2. Tried to put "too many" books on it (even though there is visually plenty of space.
So- now, when I try to "Activate" the bookshelf, nothing happens. Still worse, when I click on the books that are already on it- I cannot take or even read them.
Based on some cell reset info from elsewhere- I may try to stay out of the house for 30 game days and see what happens.

Patch 1.3 is supposed to fix some bookshelves. I have the same issue with presumably the same bookshelf, and I have not checked since downloading the patch.
Thomas Kaira
Dec 9 2011, 02:15 AM
1.3 supposedly fixes the bookshelf problems. GStaff commented that it was more a preventative fix than anything else (kinda like how the UOP did not allow you to have The Elven Maiden and An Unexpected voyage active at the same time to prevent a CTD). Try again once 1.3 hits the consoles. I never got the bookshelf bug, so I'm not really someone who can test this at this point, since I'm sticking with 1.3 from now until the next good update.

Yes- apparently the bookshelf was "locked" to prevent an exploit/glitch regarding the Oghma Infinium.

Something I noticed is that some weapons cannot be recharged for some reason. Like my "Lucky Dagger." It showed no enchantments when I got it, so I was able to improve it before getting the Arcane Blacksmith perk - and then suddenly it showed a 25% critical hit chance. But the charge is empty, and it won't let me refill it.
Also, some weapons cannot be improved even with the ingots in your posssession - like the Dragon Priest daggers.

I'm putting this issue to you, Master Chef TK - because if anyone can research it and find the truth of the matter out - you have proven yourself the master at it.
Does anyone know if the inability to re-charge the enchantments on Valdr's Lucky Dagger and Keening are a bug/glitch or do they work without being charged?
Valdr's Lucky Dagger appeared like any unchanted weapon when I first got it, and as a matter of fact I was able to improve it without having the "Arcane Blacksmith" perk. After I improved it, suddenly it showed with a "25% critical hit chance" enchantment, but the charge was at zero. While I have been able to recharge other weapons with no problems, there is no way to re-charge Valdr's Lucky Dagger. I have heard Keening is the same way.
When you try to use them they give the message "This weapon doesn't have enough charge" - so are we getting the benefit from their enchantments or not? Are these weapons bugged?
By the way, my game is still pre-patch.

<snip>
I'll need to find those weapons first before I can do any troubleshooting. Please don't tell me, though, I'm still a player and would prefer not to have things spoiled. I'm on 1.3, but it won't matter because none of the current updates have provided a single ESM update.
But I do have another one:
You know those dragons that spawn at word walls? Turns out if you kill them once, every time afterwards when they respawn, they are soulless. You can only obtain souls from dragons spawned in fixed locations once. On 1.3. So 1.2 did not actually fix this.
There's the culprit for people who are not receiving souls from dragons they killed. That means it likely spawned in to replace a word wall guardian dragon you already killed.
Before going on, when I posted this on the official boards, I got several posts essentially telling me "not a bug, it's a feature," saying this was done on purpose to prevent soul farming. For that, let me ask you one thing: if you wanted to keep people from soul-farming those dragons, wouldn't it make much more sense just to have them not respawn at all? Instead of causing the game to behave anomalously and make people think the dragons are breaking as every single other player in the world would think when this happened to them?
As for if the dragon is force-respawned for a Radiant Quest, I do not think it very fair to instruct the player fight a dragon and rob him of his dragon soul when the battle ends because the dragon he was sent to kill had already been dealt with once.

Fortifying your Sneak skill over 100 causes the skill to become bugged. Where at 95 Sneak my character was virtually a ghost, the moment the skill eclipsed 100, enemies effectively became psychic, detecting him the instant he entered the room or fired a single arrow.
Keep that in mind, stealthy-types. Going over 100 Sneak makes your character a novice again.

Unsurprisingly, Bethesda seems to have made no effort to optimize this game's code. The stuff this mod does is all automatic optimization that can simply be done by the compiler without need for programmer input. The end result is roughly a 25% increase in FPS in CPU-heavy areas (like Markarth, for example)
Seriously, who are Bethesda hiring to code their games? That one guy who is not on their payroll found such an amateur flaw in their code... wow.
I hope they are feeling embarrassed right about now, they should be.

This was a fun one (NOT) in the realm of forcing the character along a predetermined path.
Trey finally went ahead and fetched the Dragonstone and gave it to the wizard.
Then he exited Dragonsreach WITHOUT speaking to the Jarl. However, when he fast-traveled to Markarth, he got a message:
"Completed, speak to Jarl Balgruf."
"Meet Irileth at the watchtower."
Wait. What? No I didn't. How does LEAVING the blasted palace without speaking to the Jarl and then going to another city mean my character DID speak to the Jarl? Nice "freedom of choice" ya got there.

There's a "CLASS CRIPPLING" bug with shields that prevents the shield from being anymore then a mainhand attack. It prevents the shield bash bonuses from ever occcuring(effectively wasting an entire tree worth of points, "VERY BAD") and simply changes it to a normal attack matching whatever mainhand weapon your using.
I believe the cause of this originates(at least in my case) from the Werewolf transformation. I would also like to state however that it may also be occuring from other sources but this is a source I can legitimately say causes it. I hope someone can figure out how these link together. Its also worth mentioning the bug fixes itself seemingly random(potentially "never"). Ruining your character "forever". No fix, including restarting Skyrim/reloading your game seems to fix this bug once its nestled your way into your character. Fun.
I suppose the best temporary solution I could recommend is to not be a werewolf(ever if possible).

I don't know if this is a bug or if this is supposed to happen (please let me know if this happens to you as well), my character is about level 18 right now, I have the whole Breezehome package with the upgrades. One day i come in and staring at my empty bookcase is a skeleton-ghost. It turns out it is Potema, which at the time i had no idea who she was. She was not in attack mode but not talking either. I sleep and she doesn't bother me, just stands there in front of my book case. Is she pissed off because I always passed up reading the wold queen? or is this a bug in the game? and I never have even seen any quests related to her although I have read up on them just to verify who the hell she was. and just FYI, she DOES attack if I attack her, but only if I attack, otherwise she just stares at my book case, until i get close to her, then she looks at me... typical of a malfunctioning AI... but is it?? I am NOT running any mods at all. I have just plain vanilla Skyrim installed...
http://paradisim.uuuq.comUPDATE: Even stranger, when I reloaded my save game, the ghost still there, now comes up as an Imperial Soldier in my house running around and acting like an Imperial Soldier would but clearly is the same ghost. When killed, even weirder, she has all the inventory of an Imperial Soldier... and shows on my guage during combat as Imperial Soldier as well. Actually, Lydia who was hanging out upstairs was the one who actually killed her... but this didn't happen the first few times... its got to be a bug right?

wow, that is obviously a bug, and a creepy one, too! I've done those Potema quests a couple times with a couple different characters now, and have never seen her outside of these quests.
Me and my characters have witnessed some pretty weird compassion in Skyrim, though. Floating weapons is the most harmless one. I'll just be walking around and there will be a weapon floating in the air. Sometimes, it is possible to grab the weapon and put it in Inventory, other times it cannot be removed. I think this is an Xbox-specific glitch, I never saw this happen in my PS3 games.
Much more scary is there have been a couple times when my PC was attacked by an invisible NPC. There is no Chameleon in Skyrim (right? ) so this has to be a glitch. The game malfunctions when trying to draw up that NPC, can't do it, but the NPC exists and can attack anyways.
