Copyrighted stuff doesn't really matter. I have seen plenty of copyrighted characters (Zelda,Link,Samus Aran,A gundam, ect.) become created in a mod. Just as long as you don't sell the mod it's completely legal.

Of course, you could end up like the Lord of the Rings mod.
I really think that a Star Wars TC would be really cool, as long as it's done somewhat quietly.

I would really like to see a Total Conversion mod setting the PC as a mercenary or hedge knight in the Song of Ice and Fire world called Westeros. Martin's medieval fantasy series sets itself perfectly for a Elder Scrolls type game considering the epic story, political setting, and action.

Actually, that is a big misconception.
Any usage of trademarked/copyrighted material is depending on the explicit permission by the rights owner. That is why that LotR mod was never made. That is why the Old Hyrule mod explicitely states copyrighted names like "Zelda" will not be used.

Oh I see. I do somewhat remember hearing something legal behind the dissapearince of the LOTR mod... Well I'm glad I have been enlightened. Still it is very unlikely any companies are going to come after you for modding their characters, but still it is a possibility.

Dude, yea it is... If you've ever followed Battlefield 1942 and its mods then you would know that numorous mods were contacted by attorney's of those companys
Needless to say they stopped doing the mods

I'm not sure if I've got a mod list but I do have a mod idea list, with quite a bit of material that I can gather so far. Would that work?
