Chapter 2
PART 1

"Here she is."
"Is she strong enough? She could die if we push her too hard."
"In that case, we make her a God, like us! No harm, no fowl."
"But she can't do her mission as a God!"
"Remind me why, again?"
"It has to be a mortal!"
"Oh. I thought we just weren't doing it because we're too lazy."
"You're too lazy. I'd be glad to save the world."
"You just want all the glory."
"That too."
"If she becomes a god, she can choose the next mortal."
"What makes you think she'll want to become a god, anyhow?"
"Ahh. I see the problem."
"Finally."

The last thing I remembered was someone saying, 'It has started', and Seth standing over me, looking over me.

It was noon, undoubtedly. The light was coming in through my eyelids, painting the world bright red, and sending images of irrelivant red things.

I opened my eyes, and gazed hazily up at Seth, who looked relieved. Then someone stood over me, a hulking dirty person, possibly a woman.

"This is Janice the Clean," said Seth, waving a hand toward the person.

"Clean?" I was surprised with my voice, which sounded higher than usual. Not squeaky, just higher.

"She got the name when she was six," explained Seth. I nodded. "Are you feeling okay?" he asked again.

"Yeah, I'm great... Why?" Seth squirmed rather uncomfrotably.

"Well... you look a little different," he said, and continued. "Janice told me that you had turned into another kind of race. This transformation occurs only with certain people of certain lineage. That's why you always looked so tiny, when you were a Nord. The thing is, you aren't a Nord, and never have been. You are a Night-Elf."

"Just how different do I look?" I asked suspiciously. Seth took out a mirror and handed it to me.

"Even more different than when you last woke up." I took the mirror, and almost fainted. There was no way that could be me. My skin was way paler, hair streaked with black, eyes flecked with red. My nose was pointed and kind of upturned, like a pixie's. Mt ears looked like any other elf's. My lips were black, like someone had recently painted them so. My almond-shaped eyes blinked. I looked down at my feet, and noticed I was much, much smaller. No-one would recognise me now.

"That's not me," I began, but Seth cut me off.

"Yes it is. And even stranger, feel your back." I did so, and to my surprise, I felt something feathery.

"What the hell?"

"Wings," explained Seth, not without a little envy.

"Wings? I have wings?"

Ooops, thx. Welcome to the fanfics, Helper Unknown! Wow, it feels like only yesterday that someone said that same thing to me... while in reality, it was only 23 days! Geez, time flies!

Anyway, Helper Unknown, you should introduce your self here!

With nearly no one posting, I feel soo spammy, anyways, great story!
Grits
Petra, I am intrigued by your story! I like the way you worked your description of Alex in by having her look in the mirror. Like Seth I am not without a little envy of her new feathery wings. “Janice the Clean,” hilarious. smile.gif

I thought this was funny:

Sorry for not posting for a while. I've had Writer's Block.

PART 2

"She doesn't seem too happy about it."
"Should she? I wasn't when I first got my wings."
"But you're different."
"Duh. I'm a God. She's a Nord/ Night Elf."
"And? But we're getting off point."
"So we are."
"What's going to happen to her? We could bring her to the Council."
"Which one?"
"The Gods council, you idiot!"
"Oh. Right. Hmm... Well, we could also... well, we could take her to get Martin."
"That's a possibility."
"Or we could take her to the Blades for her to get some training."
"She could probably kill them all."
"Your point?"
"She doesn't need training."
"Maybe she could train them."
"Yes, because she'd be so enthusiastic about that."
"Ahh. right."
"Exactly. She can't keep running around with that Imperial Legion kid. He'd distract her."
"Plus he's in love with her."
"Yes, that doesn't help much either."
"And she likes him."
"Yeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhh..."

"Do you think I can fly?" I asked Seth.

"Why else would you have wings?"

"Publicity? I dunno," I said, and then a wave of nausea rolled over me, and I lay on the board, feeling like I was gonna puke.

"Are you ok?"

I groaned and held my head, which felt like it would burst. And then, miraculusly, the pain stopped. And time stopped, too. Because a large dragon was standing in front on me.

"We have recruited you. Do not resist. I will take you to the Council."

"Like hell!" I yelled, and jumped up from the bed.

"You will come. Or we will take you back to the Guild."

I knew which one the dragon was talking about. The assassins guild. The one I had been kicked out of.

"No!" I yelled as I flung myself into the air, and opened my wings. "Hell, no!"

Whew! You may have the theme for Skyrim brewing here !!

I love that line.

Sorry for not writing for a while - the keyboard broke.
Yeah, I know, always with the excuses. First writers block, now this.... bla bla bla. Wtvr (means whatever in text)
PART 3

"The girl has talent."
"Correction: the night-elf has talent. With what?"
"Well, flying, for a start."
"And for an end?"
"You know just as well as I do: snappy comebacks, sword fighting, killing, archery... You name it."
"Okay. I'll name: passion, mercy, remorse. She doesn't have any of those."
"So? She doesn't need those. As a matter of fact, weren't you the one who said that that was why we chose her?"
"Yes, I was. I was only pointing out that she doesn't have complete talent. She's a good actress, though."
"I'll say. That Legion boy believes she loves him!"
"Maybe she does."
"Doubtful. She isn't capable of any kind of love."

The sun on my wings felt perfect, as I mastered the art of flapping. But guild was worming its way into every thought. What about Seth? It was obvious I couldn't have taken him, but...

I moved my wings harder, faster, hoping to leave everything behind...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seth blinked in surprise. One moment, Alex had been there. The next, she had gone. It was entirely unnatural, Seth decided. But if that was the price to pay for her...
"Where did the girl go?" demanded Janice the Clean, whose fingernails were rotting.
Seth jumped as the rough voice brought him back to earth (rather, ahem, Tamriel). "No idea."
"Maybe simontanious combustion is normal."
"That didn't happen, right?" asked Seth, worried.
"It was a joke." Seth breathed a sigh of relief. If she actually died... But he couldn't even think of it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was night, and I stared up at the sky, feeling immensely alone under the two colourful moons...

A few stars blinked down at me, and I suddenly found myself wishing I had learned more of the constellations. I knew the Warrior, the Lady, and that there could be the Thief...

"You do not remember your constellation?" asked the Emperor kindly. I shook my head, and he looked critically at me. "Perhaps... yes... I believe, Alex, that you were born under the sign of the Lover."

I shook my head frantically again, and said, "sir, aren't the signs supposed to reflect the type of person we are?"

"Yes. You will meet someone, sometime. Ahh, but I am rambling, and we are now entirely off subject."

It was possible he had seen my discomfort.
Petra Arkanian
I feel kinda lonely.

PART 4

I was flying through the endless sky, dodging cloud drifts, marveling at how my wings moved almost without effort. That's when something hit me. I looked at my shoulder and saw - surprise! - an arrow sticking out of it.

'Here we go again', I thought as I plummeted downward toward my pursuer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(three hours later)~~~~~~~~~~~
I blinked drowsily at the wooden roof above me. The last thing I remembered was someone saying, 'I hope you didn't put too much sleep potion on that arrow.'
A door opened behind me, and I twisted to see who it was. Or, rather, what it was. Because the tiny creature had wings, but, unlike mine, they were without feathers, and were instead covered in a glossy dust that moved and squirmed. The creature hovered toward me, emmitting a faint sound of ringing bells.
"Hello!" squeaked the humaniod. I determined it a female, and stared, confused, back at her. She gave a new meaning to the term 'impish'. She looked a little like me, but with white skin (as opposed to almost white), purple eyes, and acid green hair.
"I suppose you might be confused. I'm Sayd the Honest, honest!" She chuckled squeakily at her joke, and continued. "I'm a night-elf, like you! Or, actually, was. Now I'm a Deadra Lady. And I'm giving you the choice to receive immortality or not!" She clapped her hands, greatly resembling a delighted child. "I give choices, and help you find the right one!"
"What if I say no?" I asked.
Sayd frowned. "Then you can become a puppet for the Gods. But that's not fun!"
I leaned back, rather confused and alarmed. "Do I have to choose now?"
"Certaintly! 'T'wouldn't be no fun if you didn't!" She put on a pouty expression, a guilty frown playing on her green lips.
"What happens if I choose mortality?"
"Then..." she grinned deviously. "Then you friend here goes bye-bye!"
And to my horror, a disheveled teenage boy stepped forward, his mop of black hair all over his face, and his black eyes frightened and confused.
"Seth!"
mALX
GAAAH! NOT SETH!!!
Petra Arkanian
Okay, so here's a short one.
PART 5
"Your young friend has been tailing you ever since you left!" cackled the Deadra. "So I found him! Possibly the one thing you care about!"
I gulped and looked at Seth. He shrugged, eyes wide, and mouthed, "Stay mortal."
I shook my head subtly and looked at Sayd. "What happens if I choose to become immortal?"
"Besides him living?" she jerked her pixie head toward Seth. "Well, obviously, you can't die. You get to be worshiped, and people give their children as sacrifice to you... well, you also get your own plain of Oblivion, which you can model any way you want! It's very fun!"
I stared at the musty rug for a few moments.
"Oh, and I almost forgot! You can choose for three people of your choice to become Deadra Lords or Ladies too!"
I sucked in a deep breath, and turned to her and said, "Okay. Paint me Daedric."
"Ohh, crap."
"We are in trouble."
"Damn Sayd and her Deadric ideas!"
"I concur with that assessment. What to do?"
"There's no point in killing her... if only the connection hadn't failed. We could have salvaged the situation."
"If only that Seth kid didn't exist. Sayd'd have no leverage!"
"Wait a minute... what if we either killed the boy, or took him captive? She'd do anything to get him back!"
"Or not. We still don't know her affection for him. We think she has a thing for him, but... well, we can't be sure."
"Hmmmmmmm..."
"AHA! I have got an idea. Seth is going down."
And the god looked at his equal, and grinned quite evilly.
