So, I've been working on this, since it will show up in my fan-fic a little later. Basically, I thought that given the deaths members of the Fighters Guild seem to suffer, both in the immediate back-story and the guild's questline, I figured that the Guild would have some form of service or wake for their honored fallen. And having been a big fan of The Wire, I decided to model it on the Detective's wake the Bal-more Po-lice hold for their honored dead.
First, for legal reasons: the following song is a parody version of The Pogues' "Body of an American," and is created and used under fair use. I take no responsibility for legal ramifications of reproducing or distributing this work that violate said US and International copyright law.
That out of the way, here's a Youtube link to the song so you can hear the music and possibly sing along.
Body of a Fighter:
The horse drawn hearse stood by the house
And the ranks they were within
And the Rigger boys they hissed advice
‘Make off wit’her with a pin’
Then we turned and shook as we had a look
In the room where the dead men lay
So big Jim Dwyer made his last trip
To the shores where his father's laid
But fifteen minutes later
We had our first taste of whiskey
There was uncles giving lectures
On ancient High Rock history
The men all started telling jokes
And the women they got frisky
At five o'clock in the evening
Every b@$tard there was piskey
Gone away, Fare thee well
There's nothing left to tell
Farewell to Cyrodiil City boys
To Black Marsh and Hamm’rfell
He took them out
With a well-aimed clout
An I oft’ would hear him yell
I'm a free born Fighter of Tamriel!
He fought the champ in Balmora
And he slashed him to the ground
He took on Little Larkenella
And it only went one round
He never had no time for bets
For drink nor dice nor whores
And he never threw a fight
When the fight was right
So they sent him to the war
Gone away, Fare thee well
There's nothing left to tell
With a “slainte Bro and Bre’irenn go
My love's in Tamri-ell
The calling of the savory
Skingrad wine from in the dell
I'm a free born Fighter of Tamriel!
This morning on the harbour
When I said goodbye to you
I remember how I swore
That I'd come back to you one day
And as the sunset came to meet
The evening on the hill
I told you I'd always love you
I always did and I always will
Gone away, Fare thee well
There's nothing left to tell
'cept to say adieu
To your eyes as blue
As the water in the bay
And to big Jim Dwyer
The man of wire
Who was often heard to yell
I'm a free born Fighter of Tamriel!
I'm a free born Fighter of Tamriel!
I'm a free born Fighter of Tamriel!
