Full Version: Infamy

Are there any benefits to being infamous on Oblivion? I've been playing as a bad guy (well, girl) recently, doing the Dark Brotherhood stuff, etc. and I can't seem to think of any benefits to being evil. Is this the case, or am I just being too dense to notice them?

Your thoughts, please.

the only thing that comes to mind that yu get to do when you have a high imfamy is if you have the Vile Lair downloadable content then you can pray to Sithis and i foget what happens... yea just follow Kiln's link laugh.gif

This. You get perks the more infamy you get with this DLC.

Role play wise playing evil people is fun

you could ask the same question about fame - although fame gives you just a little bit more on advantages

genrally npcs will have a lower disposition the higher your infamy is , however some npcs will actually like you more , also you can get the vile lair bonus , however mostly its all just role play , One quest requires a low disposition so infamy will help.

fame ? well the best houses have small - time fame requirements to purchase , All npcs will like you more , some quests have a low fame requirement to do.

I try to have a somewhat neutral reputation on Lothran. He likes to slip under the radar but unfortunately (?) his nature to be good tends to make him popular amongst the cyrodilic people cool.gif

I am partial to the kind of evil represented by Darth Sidious, who is able to subjugate the entire Galactic Republic under the noses of the Jedi while smiling at them from his seat as Supreme Chancellor. The evil represented in most (if not all) videogames is more of the overt, mindless type of evil represented by the reavers in Firefly. It's just not something that I can get behind.

Yeah, this one. smile.gif I haven't had a character with high infamy yet, but I rather enjoy hearing all the harsh comments and greetings from NPCs who don't like my character. It's like an entirely different side of the world I initially played with famous/good characters. I know some people don't like this side of Cyrodiil, for some reason I always get a kick out of it.

It is kinda strange how everyone likes you and wants to be your best friend simply because you have high Fame. Too bad Alval Ulvani is dead in my game but I always have Lazar Milvan! biggrin.gif

Now you're talking! That is a bad guy you can respect for the genius, and almost like at the same time you fear him.

Does anyone know if it's possible that a NPC who shouldn't attack you by default, attacks you if you have very high infamy?

If they have a disposition 5 points below their aggression level, they will attack you.(unless the NPC's aggression level is 5 or smaller)

Infamy drops an NPC's disposition.

Thanks, I thought they had to be at least talked to before they attack.
Well then Falador better gets ready. cool.gif

Hard to find someone in Cyrodiil with a grudge against Lothran. Everyone seems to like him cool.gif
