I was thinking this morning, plumbing the dark depths of my mind, when I had a rather interesting Idea. Suppose that someone wrote a story about this forum. Not about chorrol.com, as such, but actually about the town. However, the town would be populated by members of this forum. If you have a forum "persona" then just put up a little info on him/her on the thread and I'll put it in my story (you might have to think up a clever, but easily recognisable twist on your name, as I'm no good at that). Essentially, it'll be a fan-fiction about fan-fictions, but with the authors as characters. Even if you don't write, you're welcome to drop me a line and you'll have a came, at the very least.
This will be all be done in the good spirit of light-heartedness, with a bit of mickey taking of everyone involved (I myself will be a coffee addicted mad professor type who spends all night penning his words down).
If you're interested, then, as I said, just ask to be included here.
May your quills never run dry of ink!

I'm interested. But what would I have to do exactly? Sorry, I'm a tad bit confused.

An interesting idea, tho' to be honest I think it would be much funnier (and admittedly more dangerous for the other characters) to use Al as my substitute... heh.

Well you could post up a profile for your character, similar to that in a RP, but less detailed, just name and profession. Then I'll include him/her in the story. The reason I ask for this so that a. I don't have to think up characters, because I'm lazy like that and b. I can post up the story without fear of including someone who might not want to be included.
And Canis, I take it you mean Always-He-Lingers-In-The-Sun?

Interesting idea. I'm rather torn right now between an boat-kicking mullet-sporting monk named Brother Dalton or just a regular crazy person on the street.

Who else?
Gimme a little time and I reckon I could work up some sort of "profile" for Al, something more detailed than "serial-drunk Argonian assassin who kills people at the Empire's whim and has precious little tolerance for fools". Or I could invent someone else... I'll think on it.

Ah, what the heck. I'm in. It might get me writing myself again.
name: Roland Frost
profession: agent/mad scientist
Does this work?

Total non-continuity with any of my stories... but here we go:
Always-He-Lingers-in-the-Sun (everyone calls him Al)
--------------------------------------------------
Retired (or so he claims). When asked what he is retired from, he says he was an imperial courier. He was, of course, an assassin. Claims he lives off an imperial pension. Augments income by 'hunting'. He does occasionally hunt deer, but he also enjoys hunting bandits and highwaymen. Heavy drinker, usually expensive stuff. Thinking of opening a tavern with all his looted wealth.
Risky hobby: Enjoys breaking into people's residences (Castle Chorrol included) and rearranging the furniture, just to keep in practice.
----------------------------------------------------------
How's this? Or is it too much?

Dude, that sounds like a character from one of my fics.

There seems to have been a bit of confusion here, which I probably didn't help with a complicated explanation.
What I wanted was a character of yourself. Chorrol, in this story, will be a town of words, everyone would write or paint, and it would be populated by us. For example, Redsrock could be Verick of Red Rock, a merchant running the town's bookshop. There's a lot of flexibility for characters, but a link to the forums and your usernames will be needed.

So we write for our own characters? As in, I write mine, you write yours, Redsrock writes Verick and Canis writes Al?
Hmm, going by the example you've just made, I'll have to change my character.
Err...Roland Dublois (gosh, sounds french) of the Clouded Quill Press?

Actually this was going to be a solo piece. I wanted people to give me a character so that when I write they feel they are represented in a way they won't be offended by. As this will have everyone in it as rather eccentric, asking if people want to be included and characterised means that any issues with someone saying they don't want to be involved for some reason will be diverted before they begin.

I think I'll submit a 2nd character (in addition to Al, who you are most welcome to use) slightly more reflective of the forum me.
Name: Cyrus Wolfe
Race: Redguard
Occupation: Mercenary/Rogue/Bard/Doer of Odd Jobs
Description: A silver-tongued devil always looking to make a quick buck. Not a bad fellow, but he sees the world differently from most--he's an anarchist, caring little for organizations or statute law of any sort. Handy with a blade and bow, considering that he's mostly self-taught. Not much for theft unless he's been out of work for a while, but will take any opportunity to make unfair (albeit barely legal) bargains and contracts. Strange sense of humor.

This sounds like an interesting idea. I must confess, however, that self-description has never been one of my best abilities. On the forums, I'm mostly silent, except in the fanfic section, where I do have a tendency to ramble sometimes in my commentary on various stories. IRL, I'm a biochemist with limited social skills and a strong liking for dry clean only clothes. How would that translate into an Elder Scrolls character? Perhaps something like this:
Race: Breton
Gender: Male
Occupation: Mad Alchemist
Social Interactions: awkward attempts at conversation at the local bar?
Most likely cause of death: wacky alchemy experiment gone horribly, horribly wrong
Romantic interest: either none (due to lack of social skills) or some equally geeky guy
Well, that's certainly one idea. Somehow I think Minque or Treydog could describe my "forum persona" better than I can, as they've put up with my comments on their stories for many years now.

Okay here's mine.
Name:Asray
Occupation:Thief/occasional assassin
Description:Has been thieving since she was 10 years old, and assassinating people since she 15. Enjoys annoying the Imperial Legion officers because of the way they treat her. Like dirt basically. Her favorite weapon is a bow, but is fairly decent with a knife.

Sep 25 2008, 02:25 AM
Name: Dalton
Race: Breton (father was an Imperial)
Occupation: Doorman (bouncer); deals with ruffians at the local bar
Description: A strong, intelligent individual with a talent for breaking up fights and resolving conflicts peacefully. Is fairly decent with a knife, but his true specialty is hand-to-hand combat. It is said that he can rip a man's throat out with his bare hands (though no one has ever seen him do it). Highly philosophical and possesses a penchant for spouting witty, laconic aphorisms.

I'll probably come back and edit this more tomorrow.
Samuel
Race: Redguard
Occupation: Legionnaire officer
Social Interactions: Samuel speaks freely with commoner and noble alike when time is available. If something is happening in the town (traveling musician or bard performing, etc.), he'd be a part of the audience.
Description: Raised by a Breton couple of the lower nobility, Samuel is a well-rounded young man in exercises of mental and physical ability.

Name: Trey
Ethnicity: Breton, possibly with some Nordic heritage
Occupation: Has done a variety of things; currently repairs magical devices; works with writers on their manuscripts; teaches rhetoric, composition, and literature.
Socially somewhat reclusive- spends most of his time at home with his artist wife, Baria. Can frequently be found at the bookshops. Disappears for extended periods with no adequate explanation. Comes across as rather aloof; can however become frankly a bit of a bore on certain subjects about which he feels passionate. Hard to get close to, but is a true friend to those he allows in. Dislikes and distrusts most authority figures; has little good to say about royalty in general. An amateur naturalist, he can be found in the forests outside the walls, observing wildlife and the cycles of nature.

Sounds interesting, here's a character who bears at least some resemblence to myself,
Name: Lind Vantar
Gender: Male
Occupation: Winemaker, though can do a good few things, a jack of all trades really
Description: Well built, he enjoys what he does because if he doesn't enjoy it he won't do it. Most likely to be found outside in the day and in a rough pub at night. Enjoys a good brawl, he's a good hand to hand fighter, though generally won't start one as he's friendly to anyone until they annoy him.

I think.....you need a female character as well!!
Name: Serene Vantinius-Sarethi
Race: Imperial
Occupation: Originally healer and mage, but also former high rank politician. Nowadays she lives a more quiet life with her husband Athyn and their three children, two daughters and a son. She has recently finished the first part of her biography and become very fond of writing. Apart from that she loves nature and can be found outside in the forests where she usually picks mushrooms and herbs. She also runs a small apothecary in town and has a solid reputation of being a skilled healer.
Description: She's had a hard life and lost many of her close friends. Still some of them are present, like the Breton Trey, whom she have known for ages. She is a beautiful woman, kind compassionate and caring. She always has a friendly advice or a supportive word for anyone she comes across. She have a secret longing of which she never speaks, a close friend who has disappeared mysteriously, but she never looses hope of finding him...
She also enjoys going to a local bar and share a fine brandy with her friends and acquaintances. But she can as well be found sitting in a corner of that bar, reading a book

Ill go for a bio that would be closer to a avatar of myself, while including some characteristics of my main character.
Name: Aston Devereaux
Gender: Male
Race: Breton
Class: Assassin
Appearance: Brown hair, meticulously oiled back. Slightly unshaven, aquiline features that slightly resemble a bird of prey, lean body giving a predatory look.
Bio:A member of the Dark Brotherhood, Aston wears dark clothing, and leather boots constantly. (Going for the oblvion character I have.) His weapon he is never without is the Blade of Woe, always with a lethal dose of poison he makes himself, as he is a master alchemist. In person, he is well-spoken and carries himself with the gait of a gentleman, easily charming common citizenry. His background is largely unknown, as his social status is as shadowy as he can be. He is quite wealthy from his work, but lives in a modest shack outside of Leyawiin, his only 'friend' is the Khajiiti gardener of Castle Bravil, the theives guild member, whom he frequents the local tavern with quite often. Both are fully aware of the others occupations, and occasionaly perform favors for each other.
He always wears the Black Band, reminding him of his first kill. He sees himself as an 'everyman' and has performed quests to save common citizens despite the uncharacteristic reflection on his dark profession. But these are not to be seen as a sign of weakness, as there is usually an ulterior motive behind these quests, he is a perfect calculating killing machine.
