Colonel Mustard
I've been thinking about the forum lately, and have decided that though it's a lovely place, it's a bit...quiet.

Now I know that some forums will be busier than others, but it does seem to be a bit too quiet round the clock, with only a brief burst of activity around 5/7 pm, which means during evenings, being all alone on the forum can be a bit dull.

I know I can't simply snap my fingers and get more people, but if we work toward getting more people aboard, Chorrol can be better than ever!

Hmmm we do have over 3000 members already....I think we need to activate them as well..I agree with you its a bit slow. But have faith...it will be more lively ....I hope
Black Hand
Well this is one of those small forums that always dangerously on the brink.
However it is also a central hub of some of the finest authors in the TES Fan Community.
Lord Revan

Most of the people that attend here are serious enough about the community to return. I think that's a good thing, but maybe a few more equally dedicated members joining could be even better. smile.gif

Quoted for truth. But it seems that no matter how long it stays inactive or relatively quiet the forums eventually bounce back, its been like that since the beginning really.

How many of them are real though?

To be honest I prefer smaller more obscure forums. I'd say everyone knows everyone here and there's never really any problems. Which is good. But equally it can be rather quiet sometimes. Its a balancing act though because beth's forums are pleanty busy but they have certain flaws which rob me of any desire to use them.
Agent Griff
These forums have a respectable number of users, yes, but about 20 or 30 people are truly active.

And as Kiln said, most members tend to bounce back and forth in terms of their interest.
Olen
I just did a little count and of the 3553 members 2218 have never posted. We can ignore a protion of those as some of the usenames left little doubt as to them being spambots but a protion will be bonafide.

More relivantly are the 288 who have one post to their name and another 374 with between two and five posts. With the number of new members appearing I wouldn't say that recruitment is the problem (if a problem it is) - its retention. Most just don't really get involved.

PS its not that I have too much time... 8)

Well even years ago before Oblivion had been released this site didn't have that many incredibly active members. I actually prefer this environment because the people are more passive and friendly than those of larger forums...even the moderators and admins. Not to mention that almost everybody knows one another. (Well...as much as one can over the internet at any rate.)

Sadly many of the members that used to frequent these forums have dropped off the face of the map but people keep coming and several of the people that are still here have been here for quite a long time. I didn't like Oblivion much but I still return to the forums because I like reading the fan fiction and joining the discussions.
Agent Griff
The same goes for me, pretty much. I wasn't psyched with Oblivion. It's okay with OOO on a gameplay level, but what's intrinsically wrong with it can't be adjusted by mods.
redsrock
Sadly I've become less active than I used to, but that's only cause I ain't crankin' out five fanfics a day! tongue.gif

Really though, this place is superb, and like others have said, the writing talent here is simply amazing.

Not to mention the mods, but I will anyway. The only ones I truly can say I have had a lot of contact with is BSD and Minque. You two are uberly fantastical. In fact....this whole place is cool. I've only spoken with Alexander a few times, but he's been a real cool character as well.

I wuv u guyz... tongue.gif

Actually, that is why I joined up to this forum. Environments like this help me warm up to a place, not to mention makes posting any questions or asking for help on certain areas much easier.
redsrock
True dat. Everyone is nice here. Well.....we did have someone who I didn't quite like, but they are gone.
Alexander
I read through this thread the past week and I'd like to add my thoughts, while I guess I would have liked to have a forum that has several hundred thousand members, all of which are active, at the same time I shudder to think how much time would have to be involved in running such a place.

Not to mention the fact that you'd be lucky if you knew one in tens of thousands of members there, and the chances of an atmosphere the likes of which we have here, would be close to nill most likely.

So while it might have been cool if our forums had the size of say TESNexus, I'm quite happy it's the size it is here, with the members we have.

Thanks redsie! That was heart warming! I hope I'll get the chance of being more active, its just that RL takes so much out of me at the moment!

As Blackie mentioned this place really have a lot of talented writers, I sometimes woner if you guys really know how darn good you are? Its amazing!

Lets hope there will be a little more action though, I sort of miss the old RP-ing days when we had to reserve places in the thread so it would make sense! Ah those were the days my friends....
Agent Griff
Do such forums even exist?

Anyway, I know a forum with 20 000 members that has good activity and a great atmosphere. I think the laid-back attitude the mods have when it comes to banning people and enforcing the law adds to that. I mean, there aren't any forum watchmen there if you know what I mean. tongue.gif

You can make use of any word in the English vocabulary in your arguments (and often times you'll find words that aren't in the vocabulary at all) as long as you "try" to argue with your opponent's opinions and not his person. It's all very mature and the veteran community is great, if you ask me.

And since you could be curious, it's Mount and Blade's official forum, Taleworlds I'm talking about. The off-topic forums there are pure delight, since mainly the forum regulars frequent them, with usual noobs and retards hanging out in other, more official parts of the forums.
