I've tried but I can't figure it out! What do the symbol, a,mount of those symbols, and the color of those symbols mean?!

PS: the symbols are the one's under your name, and yes, i know it's your rank...
Channler
You've got to be very liberal with the interpritation of the Dreadric(?) alphabet..
Hukai The Wandering
... i hate you all...

just kidding! smile.gif
so, seriously, what do they mean? you know, the little stars and boxes of every color and stuff. I don't mean the daedric words, i mean the actually symbols.
Azura's Star
I don't understand this, either. My little bubble seems to change color sometimes...

The website is undergoing changes right now. Sinder had a thread up explaining why these things were happening. Its nothing to worry about. All the kinks are getting worked out.

MY rank changed three times today. biggrin.gif
DoomedOne
I haven't noticed any differences.
I haven't noticed any differences.
Yeah really what are they talking about?

No, everything has been worked out. smile.gif Let me explain, then, how these new ranks work.

Let's talk about the main ranks.

A Newcomer, meaning someone with 0 posts, has no rank graphical element whatsoever. There's an empty space under "Newcomer". This might change in the future, but for now, it will stay this way.

When someone reaches 10 posts, that person becomes a Fledgling and receives an animated Light Grey circle. One post later, the circle turns into a Red one. One post later, the circle turns into an Orange one. One post later, it turns into a Yellow one. And so on, and so forth. There is a total of 15 colors that they will change to.

Now, when a Fledgling reaches Beginner rank, which starts at 25 posts, that person receives TWO Light Grey circles. Which change their colors too, but not necessarily every single post you make. For example, while your circles will change to Red ones when you reach 26 posts, you will need to make 28 posts to make them Orange.

You need 50 posts to become a Trainee. Trainees have 3 circles.

You need 75 posts to become an Amateur, and receive 4 circles as a reward.

If you have 100 posts, you become an Apprentice, and get 5 circles.

Note the fact that the circles of the last color easily blend in with the background. That is intentional; it's meant to show the fact that your number of graphical elements (circles, stars, etcetera) will change soon.

After getting all those circles, you get stars. Again, the lowest star rank gets one star and the highest star rank gets 5 stars (Observer is the lowest star rank, then comes the Supporter, then Enthusiast, then Devotee and, finnaly, at 400 posts, the Adept).

Note that the higher you get in rank, the more it will eventually take for the color of your rank's graphical elements to change.

Example: The rank of Devotee starts at 200 posts. A Devotee with that number of posts has 4 White stars. 14 posts later, that Devotee gets 4 Red stars. 14 posts later, 4 Orange stars.

You get the idea.

After that come those symbols that Jonajosa, for example, has. You need to be a Specialist (600 posts) to get one of those, a Professionist (800 posts) to get two of those, a Zealot (1000 posts) to get three and so on.

There are other main ranks as well, with other graphical elements (besides the ones known to you so far), but no one has reached those yet. To tell you the truth, some aren't even implemented yet, but as soon as someone reaches a rank that hasn't been implemented yet, I will implement it. smile.gif Why aren't I implementing those ranks yet? First, because there's no purpose in having those ranks if no one can see them. Second, because I'm still polishing up their graphical elements.

Now, besides the main ranks, there are also reward ranks, which people who make good, sensibile posts will receive. Note that these are different from custom ranks, punishment ranks and the other types of ranks mentioned below.

Here's how the first reward rank will be like when it's implemented.

As I said before, a person with 50 posts is a Trainee. But what happens if all of that person's posts are very good ones? That person might become, instead, a Learner, and will have a bronze medal instead of 3 circles.

Now comes the matter of the other ranks.

As you've noticed, three Admins (me, Alexander and Darkwing) have graphical elements reading "Admin" (in Daedric). Those are our Admin ranks. We have different colors for those (mine is yellow, Alexander's is blue, Darkwing's is green).

Stargelman, however, wanted to make his own graphical element. We call that the Stargelman rank.

Then there are all those Global Moderator ranks. As you've seen, Global Moderators (currently Minque, Epy, Rane and Warsgoth) get graphical elements reading "Moderator", each with a different color (Minque has a purple graphical element, Epy a red one, Rane a black one and Warsgoth a blue one). Unfortunately, Treydog is no longer a Global Moderator here.

Then there all those punishment ranks. As I've said before, I prefer to punish people using non-classical methods. Why ban someone when humiliating that person can have the same effect? :evil15:

Anyway, people who spam a lot will get graphical elements reading "Spammer". Flamers will get "Flamer". People who claim that they hate the Developers or who will insult the Developers (heresy) will get graphical elements reading "Developer Hater". These punishment ranks have been implemented for a very long, but only one of them has been used so far (temporarily, though).

Now there's Troika's rank. Being the TES F'Ruum Leader that he is, I decided to give him a rank with a graphical element reading "TES F'Ruum Leader".

Then there are custom ranks which I only give to people if another staff member asks me to do it (and seriously wants it done). So far we have 4 of those.

That is all.
Aki
That sure is a buncha ranks...
jonajosa
A very complicated system if you think about it. But thanks for the update with all this new info SV. I can't wait o see some of those graphical icons.

My pleasure.

thanks, but one thing you didn't say, why are there different types of symbols? (circles, star, diamonds, squares, etc.)

DoomedOne
Hukai you have far too many posts. I remember not too long ago we had the same symbols.
jonajosa
Hukais stars are blue but Doomedones are yellow. Is there a meaning to this diffrence?
DoomedOne
He has at least 14 more psots than me. Which is true, he has like 80 more posts than me
jonajosa
I see now. Color is also a factor when showing ranks. My dimonds just turned from yellow to green.
Hukai The Wandering

Rane

DoomedOne

Wolfie
Nope. Comes from my love of Wolves
The Native Americans believed that Wolves alone knew the path to the Spirit World, and that when you died, a wolf would guide your spirit to the Spirit World, hence they were known as Spirit Guides
biggrin.gif
DoomedOne
Yeah I knew that much but aki and I also love wolves, and we're not spirit guides.
Hukai The Wandering

Wolfie
Cute wasn't really what i was going for, but ok biggrin.gif
DoomedOne
Anyway I'm not the wolf that guides the dead to the afterlife. I'm the wolf that sits outside of chicken coups trying to try them into opening the door up. I'm the reason the rest of em got hunted almost into extinction.

They also saw them as the creature most alike to man. And sometimes refered to them as "Brother Wolf" or "Father Wolf", because they saw some wisdom or something.

My brain is malfunctioning right now, so i may be wrong.
biggrin.gif
DoomedOne
They didn;t fit very well but they were on dammit and those little rubber flabs were fingers dammit and I licked them till the cows came home... dammit.
