Hey guys, I don't think this is a spoiler or anything so I apologize if some consider it to be "revealing."

I'm currently playing Oblivion on Xbox, and I'm trying to complete all the Mages Guild quests. I'm done with all of them except the one with Falcear where you have to go down in the well and retrieve the Ring of Burden for him.

The problem is that I went down there and there was the body sitting there, but I had no way of getting the ring so I went back up. Now...when I'm ready to get the ring...everytime I go down there the body is nowhere to be found and the green quest arrow is pointing into the wall.. I've tried to go down there many different times and its the same thing. Does anyone know if I need to go down the well at a specific time or is this a glitch?

I think it might be Bethseda going stupid, bodies naturally disappear over time but you can set it so they don't, obviously this is a body they forgot to set not to disappear. I don't even remember if you need to get the ring of burden but anyway, how to add it to your inventory, open the console and type player.additem 0002E5AC 1

Fear not, I also have the Xbox 360 version. Sometimes, objects go through to ceilings, wall, floors or they just dissapear, but they sometimes reappears when you restart the console or fast travel and sleep for 24 hours. Trust me, this happens. And yes, you are supposed to get the ring, so you can activate the next sequence, I recomend you dump all of your stuff in a cabinet or the floor before you get the ring. Just load any previous save, or fast travel. Sleep for 24 hours, and go back to the well. The body should be there.

Are you absolutely sure the body isn't there...in case you havent thought of it, the body will be floating in the water so you best look on the ceiling of the cave.I found the marker quite deceiving.Might be usefull to cast some light in the well too...

and the ring is VERY heavy , take care that you dont get overencumbered underwater, so make some space in your inventory.

Well, I'm almost positive the body isn't in the water... I've searched the well through and through...Don't know what to do, was looking around in other forums and it seems like this is a glitch that is not fixable and I will never be able to complete any mages guild quests.

If you don't have any saves old enough to get you to the beginning of the quest, then you may have to restart the game.... which is why you should save, save, save (and probably not move on from quests once you've started them).
