what about a mod where you can organize some sort of a posse or gang, they'd be npc's scattered throughout cyridill and you'd have to recruit them. they'd have horses in the stables and they'd follow you around. i read a mod idea for a campsite mod like the one in morrowind, that could be added so you could set up camp and sleep and so would the rest of your group. then maybe create some sort of system to issue commands to them, don't know how hard that would be.
to make it fair, perhaps prohibit them from certain quests, or add some sort of quest series just for them. maybe they'll only join you at certain levels or after completing certain prestigious quests, like after everyone hears about kvatch one or two of them'll join up with you, and after any other famous exploits others will join, so by the end of the game you have a whole little crew of 7 to 10 people that follow you.
you could even add a rival gang of some sort...one that would randomly appear in the wilderness and you'd have to fight them, which could tie into a quest series just for your group, which would end with you finally defeating some group, like a daedric cult or a group similiar to the dark brotherhood or thieves guild.
i don't know about the rest of you, but i've always wanted a posse. just picture a ragtag group of archers, sneaks, swordsmean, a 6ft tall mace wielder or two, and a couple varities of magician all on various horses following around.
maybe add a permanent campsite that gets bigger and better as your group grows. like everytime you gain a member the camp is replaced with a better and bigger camp, so by the end you have a little complex on a small island or in a little canyon or something. and whenever your teams not with you they just chill there till you stop by and tell it's time to move out.
that's just be freakin' sweet.
i'll look at the construction set and see if i can get any ideas on how to implement it

Awesome idea with the camp that grows, truly, do you mind if i use this idea?
Reminds me of Suikoden =)

not in the least, go for it man. i'd love to see it done, it's not like i can really mod, but if someone can that'd be awesome. just make sure i get to play with it if you get it all finished

the one problem i have with this is the problem i have with the adoring fan, the Brotherhood assasins, the thieves from the thieves guild...
THEY KEEP JUMPING IN FRONT OF MY ARROWS!!!!! -.-
maybe an addition to turn friendly fire off?

i've been thinking about that. seriously...those "allies" tick me off sometimes....they jump in the way when you're shooting or swinging then complain just cause you hit 'em with an enchanted sword/arrow and set them on fire. if you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen, or at least out of my line of fire.
one reason i think it'd be less of a problem with this mod, would be because there would have to be quests that would be "posse specific" that would involve larger groups of enemies so that you're sure to find an enemy or two uninvolved in your party
i also hate that the enemy AI always goes after my allies and not me. it just irritates me when i charge forward to slay somethin' or other and he runs past me to some idiot legion or city gaurd who gets knocked unconcious for the 8th time this quest (mostly due to his jumping in front of my attacks) cause then i have to chase the stupid enemy down while he chases the idiot "ally"

you could even make it part of the main storyline of the mod. some sort of pact that links you to your posse on one of the most basic of levels, and all things gathered about an area by one member is tranmitted to all, thus they would know when you shoot an arrow/cast a spell/swing a weapon and they can dodge it. this would also be how you issue orders, by "thinking" (thinking with a text-based or another type of menu...) that something needs to be done, this is automatically known by your followers, and they go out and do it. they would obviously be seperate entities, of course, but you'd share thoughts , similar to how i'd expect having a split personality would be.
...or is that just too wierd?

sounds good to me. or even some sort of system where you can shout basic commands, like hold your ground, move in, fall back, retreat, provide cover, provide support, etc.
like you'd pause and activate one of a series of weightless valueless quest items that when activate trigger certain actions among your group. that'd be the easiest way i could think of to create the mod

or a single item that brough up a text menu?

that's fine too. i don't know a whole lot about modding so it's hard to say what's more difficult/doable than what

That *would* be simple to do, but oh.. so amateur =D
What would be the ideal way would be to have scripts detect which keys your press, anyone have a frickin clue how thats done? hehe
It would seem that we should tweek the enamie AI so that they attack the nearest target with a few minor exceptions, and then make a smarter AI ally system.
Poor bethesda, they just didn't have enough time..

hmmmmm... a complete overhaul of the combat AI does seem to be needed, in my opinion.

yeah, no kidding....bethseda's AI...it just isn't that bright sometimes. definitely needs fixing...but how hard is it to screw with AI?

The AI is handled in packages.
If eating is number one priority, they will run their eat package, go sit somewhere, and eat some of their never ending suply of corn.
So the combat works the same, needs tweeking for allies.
I dono ill look into this eventualy for sure, but right no i'am doin lots.. I'll still talk about it with you's. =D
