When infected with porphyric hemophilia you have 36 hours to cure yourslef otherwise you will be a vampire after you sleep some. There is also a character who will ask you if you want him to bite you and -i think- you then have it immidiately after he bites...not sure on that last part.

You should search in other threads for the pro's and con's of beeing a vampire...it has been posted here and there...Basic stuff:4 lvls of vampirism each with new skills and powerups, con is the higher vampirism level you have the less people want to talk /trade with you, maybe affecting prices too.1 more con:big one for my opinion, you are a night creature, daylights hurts you, trading happens at daylight which is annoying for you, forcing you to feed so that sun makes less dmg and people talk to you easier.

This was very quickly the basics since the forum contains a lot of info on vampirism allready...search "vampire" and thou shall find...

aight well i never got the disease i AM a vampire as i was bitten while i was sleeping... i think the daylight and social cons will be enough for me to choose not to be a V cos it jst buffs some skills and attributes a bit and u get a nighteye/detectlife power... pfft

Arg..forgot to say that when you have the disease you can only get rid of it by doing a specifiek quest *quite long too in my opinion*.
http://guides.gamepressure.com/theelderscrolls4oblivion is a good site to get more info on that. Sadly it is the only way to be cured after becoming a vampire.

P.S. in that site look at the section hints & peculiarities (scroll down to the left)

There is a table in that site with all effects...bare in mind the skills you mentioned are just vampire lvl 1 skills...higher level has different skills and higher boosts...check it out.

You probably did get the disease from someone, as I didn't think you just got it while sleeping? At least I've never been visited by vampires at night, and I've slept for 12 or more hours several times. You sure you haven't fought any vampires in a cave or something lately?

Try to check your active magic effects (F3, last tab) before you sleep, and see if there is 'Drain Fatigue 3 pts' or something, with Porhyphili... uhmm... that vampire disease as the cause. You have this before you turn into a vampire, and it won't go away immediately when you take the cure, but will go away after a few days (when you otherwise would have turned into a vampire)

Anyway like mentioned above a simple Cure Disease potion will get rid of it if you take it within 36 of infection, and before you sleep.

When you are offered the disease by that character you also have to wait 3 days before you turn into a vampire, btw.

The only vampire who will visit you at night is the one (from the Dark Brotherhood i think) who offers to bite you.NO OTHER vampires will visit you at night,so sleep tight and don't worry!
You were other biten by the one guy (maybe went through the dialogue otions too fast and didn't notice?) or you contacted PORPHYRIC HEMOPHILIA (ahem....olav!!!) by fighting vampires or accessing their inventory too often. These are the only ways to catch it.Checking your active magic effects is indeed the way to know if you are infected (at any time) but the game also shows on the top left corner of your screen that you contacted a certain disease and thus are infected(only at the moment you catch it).
Since you have allready become a vimpire you have two options:do the specific mission for THE ONLY vampire cure in the game (as mentioned in the link i gave earlier) or load a game where you haven't yet slept and drink a potion or pray at the altar of a chappel. Does The Lucky Lady statue (dont remember the town name) also cure that?I know she heals your hp but i dont know about diseases.

PORPHYRIC HEMOPHILIA (ahem....olav!!!)

Thanks, I think I've got it now: Perforated Hemoroi... uhm... I'll spend some time practising this... wacko.gif

Both words are from greek origin (i am greek biggrin.gif )
Porphyric means red and hemophilia (hema + philia = friend of blood) means to like blood.
Thus logic to name vampirism with such a term, allthough porphyric is an exces, blood (hemo-) can't be any other color than red...so hey could just call it hemophilia...but none the less...practise my friend!

Interesting, thanks for the translation. And I was only kidding, in case you were wondering... tongue.gif

Anyway I saw a CSI episode recently where it turned out that a killer had a rare disease called Porphyria or something. It was a disease which caused lots of blisters/rash etc. all over the body if they didn't take a certain medicine. Human blood apparently contained a lot of this 'medicine', so that woman killed people and took out the organs containing most blood, then put them in the blender and drank them... blink.gif

I've heard that CSI is supposed to be a realistic show based on real cases, but this sounded a bit strange. Anyone know if there is any truth to this? (btw. they had made that woman look kind of scary too - quite sexy, with long black straight hair and dark, dark eyes. laugh.gif )
