Yo!
I'm getting a little bored with Oblivion...it's getting tedious when all Quests are alike. Into cave - slas'ndash - out of cave. Into Ayleid ruin - runaround - out of Ayleid ruin...
I want to try something different.
Can someone tell me how to create the meanest baddest mage possible.
i want like a gazillion magicka...you get the drift...

I'll quote myself from another thread (
this one):
QUOTE(Olav @ May 19 2006, 02:33 PM)
Other very handy sigil stones for mages is fortify magicka 50%. I'm wearing 3 armor items with these, and have a total of 524 magicka (I'm an Altmer (+150 magicka) mage (+50) with 100% intelligence). I've almost stopped using ordinary weapons, as all my magicka enables me to create any location into a living hell for any enemies, while I myself are mostly hiding cowardly in the corner watching the fun...

Although I think maybe the bonus for Altmer is 100 and not 150...? I can't remember. Anyway this character is so magical that rabbits and doves keep popping out of his hood with each step he takes...

(Btw I think this post should also perhaps go into the cheats and
hints forum).

I play a mage most of the time. I look as it the same way I look at heavy and light armour. Do you want powerful and enduring, meaning lots and lots of magicka. Or a mage with enough magicka to perform, but with no negatives.
Altmer obviously are the beasts for mages with a good birthsign.
Bretons get a good bonus and a good resistance.
I certainly would not count out Nords and Dunmer (I play a Dunmer) while they dont have any magicka bonuses, the resistances to frost and fire are useful as they are common attacks. Plus Dunmer get Mysticism and Destruction bonuses.
I think you get my point.
As you want a big bad mage with a massive well of magicka Id only reccomend Altmer or Breton. Altmer has more magicka, but deadly weaknesses. Breton has fair amount of magicka with no weaknesses. Obviously the two become better or worse depending on Apprentice, Atronach, and mage. But that applies to any mage character, no matter the race. I can manage fine with the mage birthsign, provided I dont get reckless. Also with a stock of potions/welkynd, it compensates for the lack of magicka.

I just came to think of something...will I lose my current character when I create a new?

Unless you overwrite your old saves (with your old character), no.

I'm going to to play this dude just for fun. I.e. cheat like hell
Duplication of Welkynd's is a priority...

Armourer is kinda useless for a mage...

Not really, it can be nice to be able to repair your armor and magical weapons.
By the way, my guy sucks...!

\try again and concentrate on ONE disipline. And take unarmoured & hand-to-hand and you won't need armourers hammers...

If I were you I'd put conjuration as a minor skill - it levels up FAST and I found that I'd often get a level without training other skills much. Plus if you have it as a minor and train it up ten levels per normal levelling you'll have a guaranteed 5x intelligence boost per level - indispensible for a pure mage.

I envision a mage in full daedric...

Too cool...
I did some changes and now he's real nice.
Changes:
Birthsign, The Mage
Blade instead of Marksman.

You cant get Unarmored as a skill... sorry...
Only light and heavy armor, they really messed up robes in Oblivion, still ticks me off....
Also, if you are going for uber/cheat char, dont pick ANY magick skills for primary... You need to max End, Int, and Will first. Then, max the rest (cheat levels, its quick and easy) then max the rest of your attributes, then max the rest of your skills and go get vampirism. At stage 4, you will have 120 will, 100 int, huge str and stuff, and you if you pick Apprentice/Altmer, the negatives REALLY dont matter...
Just make yourself a good invisable spell, and some fun/creative EXPLOSIONS OF DEADLY ENGERY, and just go nuts on people...
Dont even need to bother with weapons or armor, you should never get hit anyway. I would suggest the Elvan Robe from Teagals Robe mod. Also get the Gloves mod that (sorr, forgot the name) includes GLOVES for the robe (one more thing to enchant with fortify Magicka right??).
That should get you somewhere in the vicinity of 600 magicka. Than, with the Gates of Aetheirius doomstone power, the Mage birthstone power, and the other Doomstone power (the last one I think), and a couple fortify magicka pots made at 100 alchemy...
You should easily be able to go Super Sayan and have like, 800-900 magicka for about 2 minutes...
fun stuff (welkynd stones become GOD at that point, 800 magicka takes a LONG TIME to recharge, lol)

Don't bother with Marksman, since you have Destruction. I would suggest maybe taking Block instead, or another magic skill. Don't bother with a melee skill either if you plan to be a magic heavy character.
You can use the duplicate items glitch/cheat to keep a small cache of Repair Hammers, even though you won't be skilled. It will help you keep staves in good condition, for blocking possibly, as well as your heavy armor, and it will give you more points to put into Endurance for level up. The quicker that goes up, the more hit points you'll have, and hit points are always good.
Also, you may not need to drag around a bunch of Welkynd Stones once you get good enough at Alchemy. You can probably make fairly decent Restore Magicka potions, and they'll be lighter by as much as ten times.
And since you don't seem to mind a bit of cheating, duplicate alchemy components to raise your Alchemy skill quickly.

You mean like ingredients? How is duplicating seeds and stuff gonna increase my alchemy?
The Klise
May 23 2006, 09:00 PM
Yes. If you duplicate the ingredients, you'll have more to work Alchemy with. For example, mixing Wisp Stalk Caps and Stinkhorn Caps makes a damage health poison at novice level. So, if you only have one of each, you won't gain much experience in the skill by combining. But if you duplicate each ingredient.. say.. one thousand times, you'll gain a lot of experience in Alchemy by making poisons. Oh, and you'll have a lot of poisons to either sell or use. Make sense?

Glad to help.
I admit, when I get Oblivion for PC, the first thing I intend to do, aside from installing all the various mods that I've found to be so good, is to create an ultimate PC, essentially creating a normal character, except vamping up all his attributes and skills to 100, his level to 30. I'd give him 500 hit points probably.
I wouldn't console all the best equipment, but rather make him have to earn it all from adventuring and questing. Kinda my way of balancing out such a high-powered character. It would take more than 30 levels to maximize all the attributes and skills normally.. but it's such a pain.

You can max everything except luck in about 25-30 levels pretty easily if you use perfect "lossless" leveling. If you want luck, you will need a few extra levels. Also, if your END starts at 50, and you put +5 END each level for your first 10 levels, you will gain I think 290 HP through your 30 levels. So that plus your starting Health should be close to your "correct" health.
Also, since the enemies level with you, you wont have money, and wont have many spells, you may be hard pressed to beat ANYONE...
I would suggest doing the Mages Guild quests at level 1 so you can at LEAST get access to spell making, that way you can easily make your wimpy damage spells into something worthwhile and at least be able to kill things that way.
