well i have just been curious about what peoples fame and infamy are. Its not something alot of people care about, i guess, but im just curious tongue.gif ... My fame is 74 and Infamy 44. I havnt really gotten very far in the main quest (i need to get the blood from and the armor and i need to get aid for burma) but i have been seeking out side quests that get me fame. What fame/infamy do you have?
Olav
I think I currently have 107 fame and 24 infamy. I'm about where you are in the main quest (about to find that great stone and I'm about to get help from all towns).

I've completed the Mages quests, and in the Dark Brotherhood I'm currently doing the second of the 'dead drop' quests. Think I'm getting close to completing the Thieves guild quests as well, and witht he Fighter's guild I'm about half way I think. I've done 10 of the Daedra quests and all of the town quests I think. At least I don't find any more when I'm in towns. I've also closed a few of the Oblivion gates that aren't part of any quests (starting to like those sigil stones). Just reached level 25.

How have you managed to keep your Infamy so low? My character has touched only one of the Dark Brotherhood quests and completed the Thieves Guild quests, and my Infamy is at 30. I guess the last few Thieves Guild quests boost your Infamy a lot.

I'd have completed a lot more of the game, but I've remade my characters dozens of times, getting annoyed with a small thing here or there. I'm kinda picky like that.

Anyway, my Fame is also in the mid 40s, having completed the Arena, and touched a few quests here and there for the Fighters Guild and Mages Guild.

Since I have the 360 version, I can't get any of the sweet mods for the PC, so I've been trying to level to 30 before diving into the quests that provide leveled items as rewards, because it's annoying having your gear become useless as you progress in level. I suppose it is 'the way of things,' but it's still annoying.

Well I have no idea really. I thought it was normal. Screenshots (stats were a bit off from my last post, so I have a bit higher infamy):

I don't kill people unless I'm required to do so, and I always use full chameleon when I do, so that no one sees me. Do you guys run around and kill people for fun? tongue.gif

Also I don't steal stuff. I've stolen a few expensive items so that I could get Thieves guild missions. Not sure why it says I've stolen 5044 items, as I've definitely not stolen that much. Maybe gold counts? I've stolen some gold... embarrased.gif

Actually for my next game I'll try more real roleplaying, and avoid the Dark brotherhood and Thieves guild, and see if I can hold infamy at 0. Should be interesting.

wow olav i see you have never had a bounty.... you must be very sneaky emot-ninja1.gif
Olav
Hehe yeah I sneak most of the time. Think my sneak is closing 90 points or something (edit: sneak was 96 when I checked later). I have a horse, but don't use it except for storing stuff in (using the saddle-bag mod), as I like sneaking around in the countryside when I'm outside. When I meet people they often tell me "you're a sneaky looking sort!" or something... tongue.gif

I did go to jail once to be able to complete a quest, but all I did to get there was to steal a knife or plate or something in front of the guard. Guess that was too little to trigger a bounty?

Of course my 100% chameleon gear is helpful when killing. I try to stop using it as I consider it a bit cheat'ish, but I'm addicted... wacko.gif Anyway since I'm a mage that slightly justifies it... smile.gif
DarkHunter
I have a question: Why does it have: Horses Owned:1
Horses Owned:4

Any Idea why? (last page of screenshots)
Olav
It's horses and houses... smile.gif

Btw if anyone wonders why I've only played for 44 days and rested so many hours, it's because I'm playing in real time, meaning the time goes as 'slowly' in the game as it does in real life. Then I have to wait a lot for quests that require you to do them at night/day or wait 24 hours etc.
DarkHunter
oops i guess i can't read... tongue.gif

Olav, how come that you were in jail for one day, but never had a bounty?
A little console tempering by your part, hmm? laugh.gif
Olav
No, I've never tampered with the console in that regard. That's why I was wondering about the 'days in jail/bounty' ratio. Like I said, maybe stealing a fork was not enough to get anything on my record, since I agreed to go to jail right away?

I remember it said 'gold to pay: 1' when I was arrested, but since then I've never heard anything.

on the character i've put the most work into-
fame: 154
infamy: 59

completed: all factions, 3/4 misc. quests (i think), all shrine quests, main quest

the guards still hate me all the time though.
Olav
Hmm... Completed the Thieves Guild quests and infamy went up 10 points... indifferent.gif (now have 129 fame and 40 infamy). I wonder if I should reload just before I completed it and save quest for the end of the game.

Are the any serious negative aspects of having high infamy besides the guards yelling at you?
H3lliN
I just did the thiefs quild quest to reassign Lex.During the whole mission i didn't get any infamy points. After talking to the countess and etting the orders my infamy was 11.Then i talked to the steward for my tip (20 gold) and my infamy went up 2 pts because I had helped Lex getting reassigned costing her cousin the position...That 20 gold wasn't worth the infamy points. Had i not gone further with other quests i would reload and try not speaking to the steward at all and avoiding the infamy points if possible (Euhm...this isn't a spoiler...is it?)

I am guessing it also affects prices?People won't like you much with high infamy and they will react less to you (thus prices going up?)
Olav
Yes I think it relates to how people like you in general. I tested this, and spoke to a random guard before the mission, and disposition was 37. After I got these 10 infamy points disposition was lowered to 30.

But I think I've read somewhere that if you have a high infamy rating bandits will start liking you more, though, and maybe not even attack you.

Still I agree with you, and I'll reload the game from before I finish this quest. Also, I'll not do any more Dark Brotherhood quests until I've done 'everything' else.

Wow, that would be neat. My assassin character has at the moment infamy at 9 and fame at zero. So maybe those bandits will leave her alone soon enough then smile.gif
Khaan
My main fighter char was at 74 fame and 0 infamy biggrin.gif He'd never gone to jail, killed a civilian or stole anything (paladin type)
Fargoth
Famy-104 Infamy-44
Topito
I only have 2 infamy points. The first one i gained it by killing the gray prince, and the other one by doing the first quest of the brotherhood. so far i managed to keep it that way biggrin.gif
Rane
Fame is currently at 21 while infamy is 116. Considering how well this character turned out I expect that the values will be rather different before the end comes.
DaEdRiCWaRrIoR
ha im evil i have 426 infamy with like 94 fame
Powerslide
I don't know, in all my games I ALWAYS have a predisposition towards good - in Arcanum it never dipped below "100 good" in OB I just can't bring myself to be a honoured user.

Damn morals.
lev_the_devil
bounty returns to zero after you either serve your time in jail or pay gold, after that you've paid for your crimes so the gaurds leave you alone.
Bolzmania
Famy: 107 Infamy: 6
