I'm hope I'm not bugging, but I have a few lore questions for a story I hope to submit to Tes F'Ruum (if this is against the forum rules, you can close this topic). And the people on this forum are very helpful.

Please bear with me for I have not written the rough draft yet.
:paperbag2:

Um, basically, I am writing a story about a young female Bosmer adventurer who just had a baby, but a Khajiit (maybe not even a Khajiit), as a cruel practical joke, had switched babies when the Wood Elf wasn't paying attention. The Bosmer mother did not find out until a bit later that she was actually raising an Ohmes (Ohmes-raht?), not a Bosmer.

So, you can see where I may or may not encounter lore-related problems.
Some things I'm worried about:

1) Would a Wood Elf have to be in Khajiit territory when her baby was switched? Because I have heard that certain sub-races of Khajiit are rarely seen outside of Elsweyr region (maybe even impossible?).

2) Khajiit forms are shaped according to the moons right? So, could one sub-race of Khajiit give birth to another kind of Khajiit?

3) I have tried researching as much as I could about Khajiit, but I could not find any source detailing the differences between an Ohmes and a Bosmer... Are there any differences? :embarrassed2:

4) Where could the Bosmer mother raise a Khajiit without/with little discrimination? Any suggestions?

I'm really sorry for rambling and taking so much space with my questions, but I would really like some suggestions/ideas/etc. before starting my rough draft. Any ideas/answers are appreciated! smile.gif

This wont answer all of your questions, but it gives good detail about Elsweyr.

However, it would probably not be common to encounter Ohmes-Rahts outside of Elsweyr.

2)Yes, it happens all the time.

3)Hm, so you want a description? Well, Ohmes-Raht, if my memory serves correct, walk on all four paws and are mistaken for house cats. Bosmer are smaller than their elven kin, have pointy ears, usually have light hair and have white skin. Read this: http://til.gamingsource.net/mwbooks/clanmother.shtml

4)The khajiti and Bosmer have had a few wars in their time, so not in Elsweyr or Valenwood. Try Cyrodill

One thing..itīs the Alfiq that is similar so to say to the House cat, the Ohmes are more like bosmer, they walk on two feet!

Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback! And thank you, Andric and Oozae for the awesome links. They really are helping me a lot! smile.gif

Hmm... I read the Interview with Bookseller Jobasha, and researched a few things, but can not find the answer to question #3 though...:

"How could someone tell an Alfiq from an ordinary housecat? Or an Ohmes from a Bosmer?

Jobasha:
Jobasha does not answer this question. "

Oh, darn! Just when I thought I had found the answer... tongue.gif

I, too, thought Ohmes-raht were really rare to find outside of Elsweyr, but I found this little passage with the following sentence from "Dwemer Constructs" on the The Imperial Library site:

"This observation has left me somewhat perplexed: The Khajiit species, other than Ohmes-raht and Suthay-raht, are almost never encountered outside of Elsweyr, so I cannot understand how the Dwemer even knew of the existance of the Senche."

Does that mean Ohmes-raht (found in Daggerfall?) are not as rare as I thought they were? Gosh, I'm so confused, because I am pretty sure I have read another source in the Imperial Library that said the Ohmes-raht were more rare than the Ohmes.

Oh, and I have heard a lot about Cyrodiil being a more...er, tolerant kind of place, at least in the East. So, I guess Cyrodiil it is. (I just hope I do not mess up the lore). biggrin.gif

Again, thank you so much!

The only Physical difference between a Bosmer and a Ohmes is that Ohmes tattoo their faces to indentify themselves as Khajiit. Otherwise they're identical. However, to races with sensative enough noses, the scent would be a dead giveaway.

Ohmes-Raht however, have a light Fur, facial tattoos, and a tail. Oh, and small claws i think.
Does that mean Ohmes-raht (found in Daggerfall?) are not as rare as I thought they were? Thats the thing asbout TES. Its realistic. One other could be inccorect, forgotten important facts, been insane. Believe no one source, collect the facts, draw your own conclusions.

Nottreally. Its not like they'd die outside of the place. Just give 'em a good reason to be where you need 'em to be and you'll be fine.
2) Khajiit forms are shaped according to the moons right? So, could one sub-race of Khajiit give birth to another kind of Khajiit?
Exactly.

For Khajiit, its not only "Is it a boy or girl?" Its also "What breed is it?"
4) Where could the Bosmer mother raise a Khajiit without/with little discrimination? Any suggestions?
Cyrodiil, most likely the east. Its the center of the empire, most folks aren't too biased there. The only bias that'll be really prevalent will be "Empire = teh pwn" biggrin.gif

Right. Anyway, my knowledge of the lore does not stretch to as many places as some people think wink.gif Sinder has been around a lot longer.
