Sirin
Well, I found myself lacking in Mabriel's story.... After I bought Oblivion (which, oddly enough, doesn't want to work for me...) I lost track of her. So here's Sirin.

I sat motionless, staring at the blank, stone wall. This wall is all that separates me from the outside. I didn't blink. I didn't even bother to breathe. Life seemed to stop. Here I had sat, in the Imperial prison, for three weeks. Why? I was a criminal. Prison is where all criminals wound up. Foolish reason.... I had asked myself this question for all of the twenty one days I had sat in my cell. Sure, criminals get locked up, but why am I in here? I suddenly drew in a sharp breath. Memories flooded in my mind's eye. I had been betrayed...

Three weeks ago, I, Sirin Kalimian, was a free Redguard. A free, wealthy Redguard, at that. I had led a dishonest, but profitable lifestyle. I had been involved in smuggling, theft, and other various vices. It was risky, yes, but I was good at it. Was good at it. An Imperial patrol had discovered crates of skooma in some commoner's home. The commoner had made a plea to the Thieve's guild before the patrol raided his house. He had needed the money from skooma badly, and would be killed without it. He was reminded that he would be imprisoned, and ran little risk of being murdered. However, he had claimed that he owed the money to the Dark Brotherhood. That's a serious problem... The guild had sent me to retrieve the skooma while it was en route to Castle Anvil. I HAD retrieved the skooma, but had been ambushed afterwards.

The Imperial fools had used the "commoner" to catch me. The Thieve's guild had even helped them, intentionally sending me to my grave, so to speak. I had been beaten and dragged into the prison. So, here I sat. Before I was aware of what I was doing, I caught myself scrawling on the rough stone wall. "Vengeance" "That's right," I said, "I will have vengeance."

That's all I got for now. Evening. I love comments!!! biggrin.gif

Oh, Vengeance is a deadly motiv. Great start.
Sirin
Ah.... Update... I love it.... biggrin.gif Part 2

I stared at my inscription for some time, allowing hate and rage to fill my thoughts. Scholars and philosophers would say that these feelings would cloud my judgment, but I would beg to differ. If I had the strength I needed, I could punch through the cursed wall that sealed me off from the world.

Suddenly, footsteps crashed into my thoughts. I turned around to see a heavily armored guard trudging towards me. He was carrying a food tray, which I imagined was my lunch. Good, at least he's proving his worth somehow... I gazed at the tray longingly, at then quickly glanced into his eyes. The hunched man was scowling at me, revealing a set of hideous teeth.

"So, are you going to give me my food?" I asked after he had been standing in front of my cell for some time. "Or are you going to eat it yourself?" He grunted loudly and promptly dumped the contents of my tray on the dusty ground. He glared at me; at glared at him. He slowly turned around and walked away. "Are you planning on cleaning that up, pig?" I called out as he vanished from the hallway.

Thankfully, he had only dropped my food a few inches away from the cell door, so I easily snaked my scrawny arms through the bars and grabbed it. Finally recognizing the overbearing hunger in my stomach, I sank my teeth into a piece of moldy bread. Ah! fine dining! I had devoured the food in no time at all. After the last bite of plague food was consumed, I weakly crawled over to my bedroll and closed my eyes.

I couldn't have slept for more than a few hours when light peeled my eyes open again. I felt a sharp stone rebound off of my head, and I looked up to see the guard who ruined my food throwing rocks at me. I hastily jumped up and reached through the bars, grabbing the man's pudgy throat. He cried out, so I dug my fingers in deeper. The light in his eyes was dimming when more guards bolted around the corner. A fist shot through the bars and was planted in my fist. After having been awake for no more than several minutes, darkness flooded my vision.

I woke up in a different cell, one darker than my former 'lodgings'. I swung out towards the wall, hoping to quell my frustration through violence, but my fist didn't move an inch. I tried to move my other fist, so I could feel it, but it too was unmovable. I rubbed my face against the both of them to feel metal. I had gauntlets on my hands! Why me? I groaned softly as my head drooped down onto my chest. I would never have the strength to move the gloves of metal. Sorrow consumed me, and I eventually fell into a tear-driven sleep.

Hope you guys enjoy it. biggrin.gif

I enjoy it. smile.gif
Those guards had better be nice to Sirin. From what little I know of him (Mabriel's story), he can be one mean little critter.
Elidor
Hehe I like it. I'll be following it so keep updating smile.gif

Part 3

I awoke suddenly, but I wasn't sure if I was actually awake. Confusion ran rampant in my mind. I hoped I was dreaming, for this was a nightmare. I felt awake and alert, but I couldn't see a thing. Suddenly, it dawned on me. They moved me. Now, I'm sitting in the lightless, god forsaken place with steel gauntlets weighing me down. I found myself hoping that someday I could move the gauntlets, so I could escape. And have my vengeance! Yes, and have my vengeance.

A sliver of light broke the makeshift peace. It was a heavenly thing, that lone beam. Suddenly, a rusty iron plate interrupted the ray and slid into my cell. Food! As the door slowly creaked shut, taking with it my precious light, I struggle to move to my plate. However, I had as much success as I would have with two boats tied to my weakened hands. Again, despair leaked into my mind.

I laid myself down on the floor and gazed at what I hoped was the ceiling. I would never be able to move again. I would only be able to sit and lay, and hope for death to come quickly. Don't think like that! You'll never make it out of here if you keep whining like this!!! I couldn't help it! I was forever anchored to this lone, cold floor. Besides, what did I have waiting for me on the outside? I had no family. I had no friends. I had no one to help me. The only companionship that awaited me was that of the guards, as they led me back to prison.

You have revenge. I DID have revenge. My body felt light again. Inspiration and hope drove out the despair. You WILL kill them. ALL of them. I twisted my hand, trying to get my fist planted on the ground. The rough steel dug into my flesh, causing me to gasp with pain. I kept fighting though. My only hope was through trials like this. Finally, my steel plated knuckles rested on the concrete floor. I panted for breath for a moment, pushing away the oncoming dizzyness. I repeated the process for my next hand, again beating back the pain.

I was on my hands and knees now, and I had a vague impression of where my meal was. I moved my left knee first, sliding it closer to my hands. Then I tried to move one of the gauntlets. It was a failure, at first. I couldn't slide it an inch. Revenge.... The pig of a guard appeared in my mind. I recalled the invigoration as I tried to strangle him. The gauntlet grated slowly across the stony ground. The other followed. For being so stationary not long ago, I was picking up progress.

Finally, triumphantly, I sank down next to my plate. I dipped my face down to the floor, and only tasted rock. Now this is a challenge... I moved my head to the right, and again met with the floor. To the left, same story. I dragged myself an inch farther though, and, at last, found the plate. I grabbed a piece of meat with my teeth and let it drop into my mouth. I chewed it, gratefully, and laid down face first. I had a satisfied belly and visions of glory. I slept well that night.
Taillus
This has the feelings of a spectacular story in the works. I love the description of the prison and how he was fighting with himself. I absolutely loved it! Please continue...
minque
Mmmm what Taillus just said! And I agree...continue please.......
Sirin
Thanks for the comments and such. Gves me inspiration! biggrin.gif Part 4

Waking up, I could have sworn that it was a bit lighter in my cell. More joy filled my soul. After being stuck in this hell hole for so long, I was developing sight in the dark. This will be handy... After allowing my body to fully recover from sleep, I began my plans for revenge. It was a simple scheme: Break through the door and kill everyone who stands in my way. However, I knew I had a difficult journey between this rough idea and execution. Best be getting started.

I rolled over on my belly and, spreading the thick "fingers" of the gauntlet wide, braced my palms on the floor. I pushed against the ground with all my might, but couldn't lift myself. I spat out curses and threats (to myself?) but none of these pushed me up. Goals. I needed goals. Once again, the silvery mists of my mind spun together an image of violence. Bearing my gauntlets like weapons, instead of weights, I pictured myself smashing through row after row of Imperial guards. I felt my cracked lips peeling into a wicked grin.

The very thought of massacring my enemies gave strength to my limp muscles. Trembling horribly, I shoved myself into the air. I wanted in the worst way to drop myself, but I knew that holding myself up would build even more power. I squeezed my eyes shut, and desperately shook off the sweat that streamed over my face. Finally, my hands gave way and I collapsed to the floor. All hail Sirin! Completer of a push up!

I continued on with my "workout" for several more weeks, each day increasing my push ups by one. One day, however, a guard stopped by my cell. He cracked open the door, causing myself to squint in the blinding light, and called out my name.

"Sirin," he said. "You've got...uh....a visitor." I was silent for a moment or two, taking in the thought. A visitor? I have a visitor? The guard threw open the door, obviously annoyed by my silence. "Well, are you even alive in there, kid?" he asked. I lifted my gauntleted arm, shielding my eyes from the full on wave of light. He looked stunned that I could even move the piece of armor, but he was taken aback when I stood straight.

"Tell my guest...tell him I will meet him here," I said eventually.

"C'mon, kid," the guard groaned. "Any normal man won't want to sit in a dark cell with someone like you!"

"Well, if he's a normal man, then I don't want to see him. But tell him to come here, if he dares." The guard looked at me for some time, probably deciding if he should do what I told him. And he will, if he wants to live when I get out of here...
He reluctantly paced off, shutting the door behind him. I sat in the darkness for a few minutes, staring at the walls. My night vision had increased surprisingly in the past several days. I could see almost everything in my cell.

I had almost forgotten about my visitor when the door was opened again. The guard stood in front of a shrouded man, whose eyes seemed to gaze straight through me and into the darkness of my soul. The shrouded man muttered a quick 'Thank you' to the guard and stepped inside my cell. The door was shut once more, and we sat alone in the dark.

"Who are you?" I asked, after the man had remained silent. "What do you want from me?" I saw him pull back his hood, and lean closer to me. Shaggy grey hair shot out as the hood left.

"I have a proposition for you," he simply stated. He fell silent again, letting his remark hang like a trap between us. I finally gave in.

"How cliche. Is it one I couldn't refuse?" I asked sarcastically.

"That's right." A sly smile appeared on his face. "You won't refuse it. I know all about you, Sirin Kalimian. I know that you have no allegiances. I also know that, once I leave, you will have no qualms about threatening me from the safety of your cell." Clever, that one. "However, I also know that there is no such thing as safety, not even in this cell. And you, my friend, value your life." All this he said with such calm, such ease, that it terrified me like nothing else.

"Who are you?" I seethed through my teeth. I fought wildly to control my fear, but this man had an icy grip on my emotions. I was his victim.

"I am your worst nightmare." His words couldn't have been more unoriginal, but they couldn't have been more horrible, either. He WAS my worst nightmare. "I am willing to let you live, and be free, if you listen to what I tell you." Hundreds of thoughts ran through my mind. Should I kill him now? Could I even kill him? What's the harm in listening to what he says? What am I getting myself into? I buried my face in my hands and sighed heavily.

"Fine," I muttered reluctantly. "Speak."

Nice... I realy like were this is going.

Kudos Sirin...Kudos

Excellent! Sorry i didn't notice it earlirer kvleft.gif

Now now, I am so getting interested. Keep it up. But don't let him stay in his cell for too long. Before you know it, his muscles have grown so big, he can't even fit through the door! laugh.gif But then, he can probably just punch through the walls at that point.
Kiln
Great job Sirin, hope you find the time to continue soon. smile.gif
Sirin
Thanks, guys, for all the comments and stuff. I really want to update, but it's Finals week and I got all sorts of crap going on for now. But...#1: Jack, I actually considered letting him punch through the wall biggrin.gif . But that's not going to happen now. And he WILL be getting out soon. Also, keep it up with the Cursed Blood. Probably my favorite story on this site! #2 Mazelure, thanks for the Kudos. Have you ever eaten a Kudo? Not important. I like your story as well biggrin.gif ! Keep it up! Signing off.
Taillus
Way to go Sirin! It seems that the next generation of stories here have definately consumed my Xander story... I am going to have to pull up my socks for sure.

World Class story in the making!

Very good update Sirin, well written and so intriguing, keep it up! biggrin.gif
Sirin
Buahahahaha! Update! Well, I'm gonna try to make this worth while. Try to enjoy.... Part 5

"I'm glad you see things my way," gloated the terrible man. "Sirin, are you familiar with diseases?"

I lifted an eyebrow at his random question, but answered honestly. "Yes. Well, I know some of them. The common ones." Even in the darkness, I could see his satisfaction.

"Good, good. Are you familiar with..." He paused suddenly, looking around as if he actually thought someone was listening. "Are you familiar with Lycanthropy?" I leaned against a wall and shook my head. It had only occured to me that he might not share my sharpened vision when he continued. "Perhaps you know of Porphyc Hemophilia?"

My eyes widened slowly. What's he getting at? "Yes, I have." He nodded triumphantly. "It's the....Vampire's Disease."

"Or so they call it," he added hastily. "Lycanthropy is a similar disease. It's symptoms include lust for blood and flesh. However, it shows itself only on certain evenings."

If my eyes could have gotten any wider, they did. "On a full moon?" I asked in a choked voice. I had never heard of the proper name of it, but the "disease" itself was known to me. The man developed a sudden, proud gleam in his eye.

"That's right. The victim, if you can call it that, tends to...change under the light of a full moon. His hair grows rapidly, and his body takes on the form of..."

"A werewolf," I interrupted.

"That's right, again," he cried joyously. He gradually took on a softer, darker tone. "One hundred and thirty-two years ago, I was inflicted with Lycanthropy." I shrank against the wall. This man is a werewolf. "Since then, I have searched out fellow werewolves, and we have formed a strong allegiance. However, we have been pestered continuously by the vampires of Nirn. Because of the constance of their vampirism, though, they have been able to harass us while our powers await the full moon.

"Some of us have found, or even developed, magical artifacts that allow us to change at will, but the remainder lie waiting for the moon. Our strength, though always available, is no match for their speed and grace. Our numbers are dwindling. I have watched you for some time now. You are a prime candidate to fill our ranks."

"You want ME to become a werewolf?" I cried, cowering even farther back into the wall. "I can't do it. I WON'T do it!"

"Oh, trust me," the werewolf...man said threateningly. "You WILL become one of us. You have no choice." He slowly stood, closed his eyes, and stretched out his arms. Upon one of his hands, I saw a silver ring with a ruby stone embedded in it. The ruby glowed, and the man changed.

I stood shaking, and slid over to a corner. The man started to shrink, at first. He grew hunched, and grey hair shot from his body. He threw his shirt and pants off as a sickening cracking filled my cell. His face became much longer, until it was that of a wolf. His nails turned into claws. All this consumed only fifteen seconds. My back slid down the corner, and I sat trembling on the floor. The beast turned, and walked toward me. Raising a clawed hand, he sliced me across the chest, digging deep into my flesh. Then it was over, and the next thing I knew, the grey haired man was standing against the other wall.

A guard burst into the room, and demanded an explanation for the ruckus. The lycan cried out that I had attacked him, and he defended himself. The guard looked doubtingly at the deep scratches in my chest, but escorted the man out regardless. I was left in the darkness, trying painfully to cry out in objection. What's happening to me?
DarkHunter
Lol, a encounted with a Were eh? This should be fun... I mean...
Good story!
Sirin
Yeah... I kinda got sick (no offense) of the slew of new vampire stories, so I hoped I could change it a bit. no no no... Not sick of them...just... well, I wouldn't want to write about vampires ONLY. That would be..too trendy. I hope no one minds me including werewolves, too... biggrin.gif
DarkHunter
No Worries I LOVE those Lycans!!! biggrin.gif
Sirin
Er... I'll try to put something out quickly! I've got sort of a party I must attend, but I hope this'll do! biggrin.gif In the words of MAzelure "Kudos, everyone! Kudos!"

Part 6

Crippling agony covered every inch of my body. I couldn't move. I couldn't speak. I could barely breathe. I could only scream and wheeze out painful bursts of air. My barren, cold cell became darker than usual. The deep gashes on my chest burned like Oblivion itself. I clawed at the wound, noting how horribly my fingers resembled claws. My screams echoed across the room; my body felt like it was crumbling underneath itself.

"What's going on?" the guard cried as he burst into my cell. "Why this infernal racket?"

"About...time!" I seethed in between pained spasms. "T-that man...he wasn't...human." I managed to squint at the jailor, who looked at me with surprise and confusion.

"What in the name of Stendarr do you mean? He looked like a human to me!" I screamed something at the guard, but I don't know what. The grief was squeezing all of the sense out of my brain.

"HE WAS A WEREWOLF!" I hissed. Understanding, mingled with fear, dawned on the Imperial. He tried to shut the door, and succeeded. Still, he knew as well as I that a door couldn't stop me. My bones cracked and gave way for new ones. I moaned in utter despair. Suddenly, the pain ceased and all was dark.

I found myself, or even my soul, standing on a cool, dark mountain. The midnight air eased past me, relieving me of the pain that I had felt so shortly ago. I lifted my eyes toward the sky, and admired the wondrous moon. Its light washed over my face, shading the ground behind me. I closed my eyes, and bathed in my surroundings. When my eyes opened again, the moon was still before me, as bold and mighty as before. Such a full moon tonight... So full... Full... I immediately felt terrified. My eyes shrank back into my head. I awoke from my vision, and unleashed an unearthly howl.

I was starving, and only blood would satiate my lust. The once intimidating door, I obliterated. I jumped over the splinters, and sniffed the air. It was thick with life. To your left, up the stiars, and five steps to your right. I obeyed my instincts, and jumped off on all fours. I had been led to a human, and a tasty one. Though he appeared as a shadow, I saw his blood coursing through his body. The bright red liquid left the remarkably fat body and covered the walls as a slashed the human. I dipped my head in and fed on him.

Seconds later, all shades of red had left the man's corpse. I ran off into the night, satisfied for the moment.
Mazelure
Man I love how you discribed the transformation from a human to a warewolf... absolutly gorgeous... and the way you discribed the hunger made me hungry... for a burrito of course... but it did make me hungry... alas there is only one thing for me to say and that is...

Kudos Sirin... Kudos
Sirin
Glad you liked it, Mazelure. I sort of hated it, actually. I was trapped between thinking I overdid it or didn't do enough.
DarkHunter
Wow... I like the beserker thing! Blood-Vision eh? That's pretty cool! smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif
Sirin
Glad you caught the blood vision. I hoped that wasn't too subtle...
REAPER54321
Hey dude, great story, just read what you have put up so far......are you going to finish it?
Mazelure
Hey Reaper, Sirin has not been in for a long while now so I dont think he is going to finish this story up... so yeah... that is a realy damn shame... I wonder if he is ok... he was cool guy...
Sirin
Sorry guys. I actually am OK biggrin.gif . Thanks. I just er....was away? Truth be told, I almost forgot about my duties here at Chorrol. huh.gif I'll try to post some new stuff ASAP.
Mazelure
Na... take your time dude... as you can see I have long forgotten mine... I did not even bother to finish my story called "Abyss"... the last story I finished up was "a dead man's tale" and it wasn't that great either... so yeah... take your time... something is better than nothing...
Sirin
Here we go then! An update for my meager, yet greatly welcome, fans! Enjoy, my friends! Feast deep on the meat that is literature! biggrin.gif

Part 6

Filtered sunlight washed my aching face, effectively waking me. I groaned softly, wishing for more sleep. The ever persistent sun, however, would not leave me be. Relinquishing my desires, I sat up and stretched my arms out. I was brought to a sudden dread; a dense forest sprawled around me in every direction.

"Enjoy your sleep, Brother?" My blood surged at the arrival of the new voice. I whipped my head around to see the grey haired lycan. My fear instantly melted away into bitter rage.

"No thanks to you, wretch!" I cried remorsefully at the one who called me 'Brother.' "Why have you done this to me? Wasn't there someone else's life you could have ruined?!"

My foe crossed his arms and looked at me apathetically. "You are rather selfish considering this gift I have given you," he countered.

"Gift?! You would think to call this a gift?! Maybe to you it is, but I have a life to live out!" I shouted.

"Really then? Rotting in prison is your idea of a life? It bears mentioning that you would have died in there, you know."

"I was working on a plan to get out!" I waved my rusted gauntlets in his face. "I was constantly builiding my strength up! I would have escaped!"

"I guarantee you, with the food they give you in there, you wouldn't have escaped." Soaring with blind fury, I leapt to my feet and dove at the man. Swinging out my fist, I planted it into his chest. He stood his ground, not budging an inch. With no more momentum, I sank to the ground. He grabbed me, though, and roughly threw me into a tree.

"I give up," I sighed. Looking over at him, panting all the while, I noticed that he was not even standing in a fighting position. He really is good. "What is your name, and what do you want from me?"

"My name is Kerric. I have already told you why I need you; to bolster our ranks. As you have most definitely realized by now, you have no other choice. You WILL come with me." I breathed a tired sigh. I really did have no other choice. You owe him your life, Sirin. Bear this in mind.

"Where do we go next, then, Kerric?" He smiled and beckoned me to follow him. Rising to my feet, I followed him into my new life. Why me?
The Metal Mallet
So the plot thickens...

Nice to see ya getting back into the swing of things. I'm seeing promise with this.
jack cloudy
That's right. ,,Why me?"
Well, because you have just the attitude he's looking for. He needs someone special, or else he'd have just picked up someone from the streets.

Anyway, one meager fan here salutes you on a nice and interesting update.
Sirin
Update!! Update!!! Have fun, my friends! I will pray that you don't despise this update, but instead will enjoy it. If you do despise it...well, I might go bankrupt... biggrin.gif Part 7

Kerric had led me into a cave, or what appeared to be a cave. Inside, however, I discovered so much more. When we first entered the humid cave, I found myself surrounded by lycanthropy victims. Most were men. All apparently lived in a rough manner, and were entertaining themselves in various ways when we arrived.

"Who's the new meat?" called a shirtless man in the front of the crowd. He wiped blood off of his face as he spoke. He must have been in a fight with another lycan. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out. Not even the slightest idea of a sentence formed in my mind.

"First off, he's not one I want you playing with, Jyral," Kerric growled. I was relieved, because I didn't want to play with Jyral. "He'll be staying with me, and I don't want anyone bothering him," he continued. I looked at the man cautiously. Why am I staying with him?

Jyral backed down, but another older looking lycan stepped up in his place. He puffed his chest out as he said, "Now, what's so special about 'im, Kerric? Is he fragile?" He looked around at his friends, and they all burst out with laughter. Cold, mocking laughter.

Kerric shot a look at them all that silenced their mockery of me. "No, he's not fragile. He's just...better than the rest of you scum!" he spat. "I'd start showing some respect; he'll be...supervising you starting tomorrow." The whole lot of them glared at Kerric, and then they turned their stare to me. My heart must have stopped. I'm starting to think the Imperial Prison was better than this...

Kerric led me through the bitter mob into his own personal quarters. He pointed to a small cot against the wall, and said "That's your bed. Hope you aren't expecting anything too fancy, new blood." I sat down on the small bed, burying my head in my hands.

"Why are you doing this, old man?" I questioned. I looked up in time to see Kerric stop what he was doing and stare at me.

"Do what? What am I doing for you?" he asked.

I looked at him carefully, studying his emotions. As a thief, I was good at studying emotions. This man, however, was blank. "You are letting me stay in your room. Away from...them, I might add."

"Make no mistake," Kerric clarified. "I'm not doing much for you. I know what they would put you through if you slept in the same room as them, so I give you a safer place to sleep. As for putting you over those pitiful fools-" he stopped, searching for the words to say. "Well, let's put it simply. I see great things in you, new blood. You're quick, you're strong, and you have gained control over your powers quicker than any of them," he said, pointing toward the den of lycans.

"You quite easily have the potential to lead us all one day," he continued. "That is why I'm doing this." I stared at him in disbelief. Am I that great? He broke the look and walked back into the den.

Nice updates- glad to see you back and still writing. I love a good were-story.

Great story man... this is some great stuff right here... Kudos

One man to rule them all, one disease to bind them. One wolf to bring them all, and in the moonlight bind them.

Great update. It will be interesting to see if the new blood lives up to the leader's expectations.
minque
Nice......or ehh creepy?! Anyway itīs nice that this story continues...well done Sirin...well done!
jack cloudy
So you continued? Good to hear. Looks like Sirin is in a cozy place. He should watch his back.
Sirin
Cold...Everything's so cold. My eyes burst open, and my hand shot to a weapon that didn't exist. My body was saturated with sweat, yet I was shivering like a wet dog. That's because you are a dog. Right... I realized that I was still in the lycans' cave- in my cave- but it seemed that no one was home. The usual ruckuss and rioting that went on in the halls of this bleak hole in the earth had fallen silent. Now it was only me and my frantic imagination left to wander.

Footsteps! Quite instinctively, I cocked my head into the air and started sniffing madly, searching for any trace of my unknown visitor. I felt like an idiot, sure, but it worked. It was another lycan, thankfully. Still, I was terrified at the prospect of being visited by one of the rougher of the lot, like Jyral. Surely ol' Jyral wouldn't have any qualms about tearing through my 'fragile' self.

Kerric entered the door to my left, dragging along a pale corpse. I bolted off of my makeshift bed and looked curiously at the carcass. "This," he muttered bitterly, "is the enemy." He dropped the body and kicked it over so it lay on its back. The eyes were swollen and white. The mouth was stretched open to reveal a row of perfect teeth- marred only by two fangs.

"It's a... vampire?" I asked nervously.

"No, you idiot! It's a dwarf!" he snapped. "And this dwarf sprouted fangs, and developed a very acrobatic pair of legs, and decimated several of our brothers!" I lowered my eyes, suddenly ashamed of speaking like such a fool. He does have a point. Not many dwarves have fangs like that. "No it's time for your initiation, kid. Are you ready to be accepted into our ranks with open arms?"

I looked back up at Kerric, trying to hold his steely-eyed glare. 'No' probably wasn't the right answer. "Yeah, I'm ready. What do I do?"

"Curiously enough, that's what I was plannin' on telling you!" Kerric's attitude was really starting to bother me. "You're the newest of us. For that reason alone, most vampires don't recognize you as a werewolf. Your scent," he gingerly tapped his nose, "is not strong enough-yet. That's why you're going to Anvil to hunt down a rogue vampire."

"A rogue vampire?"

"By the Nine! Is there an echo in the room, or are you just repeating everthing I say! Yes, a rogue vampire. A rogue doesn't live by the rules of the other clans. He makes his own way throughout immortality. Yet, he still ravages the ranks of us lycans. So, we are sending you after one in particular. Name is Philipe."

"When do I leave?"

"Not so fast. Philipe is a well known member of Anvil. You can't just walk up to him and tear his head off. You have to watch him carefully. Observe his habits. Figure out where and when you can get to him alone. Even then, he's a powerful little beast, so watch your back. You leave right now. You'll be traveling on foot to Kvatch, and you can arrange pasage from there by wagon. And- one last thing- I have a ring for you. Sort of an initiation gift. It is one of the many artifacts that transforms the wearer to a werewolf at will. You will need it. Also, it supresses your tendencies to change during a full moon, so you needn't worry about that."

I nodded, and scurried out of the cave, almost excited for my new mission. Sure, it was still as bad as Oblivion itself being what I was, but maybe, just maybe, I was warming up to the facts. Outside of my cave, the sun seemed to be brighter than ever.
The Metal Mallet
Wooo an update! Really nice one liners in this one, got me chuckling they did. Particulary "Not many dwarves have fangs like that". Overall, I can't wait to see the continuation of this story.
