is there anyone else out there having the problem with the screen going black, but you can still see the HUB.you have to close the game and reload it for it work again...it happens mainly when talking to someone...is there any fix for this or will the ext patch fix it too..

I have a problem sometimes with fuzziness going over the screen and blurs, goes away after a minute or 2.

I've had this problem but only once or twice, and it was when I was trying to cheat to get somewhere because my fast travel is broken Have you got the latest drivers for your card?

ya got the lastest drivers...i jst got the 64-bit forceware drivers and its not as bad! but still there...

Been looking over the ini file a bit recently to solve another issue, and I notice there is a built in 'auto-quality' feature based on frames per second. Perhaps if your fps gets too low the game will automatically adjust the graphics so low that it looks blurry?

Try turning off HDR if you have that on.

hmm i didnt try turning off the HDR, but everything looks so nice with it on...but i will give it a try...

but i only get the black screen (can still see HUD) whenever i talk 2 someone, it never happens when im out and about or fighting etc..

one other thing i do have alot of mods..but i've been tryin to remember back to the start if i was having the problem..but my father has the game installed too and we both have the same systems..video cards, boards etc.. and he has the same prob..im wondering is a graphic card issue or wot else could be causing this??

I'm not sure, but it's probably possible to disable/adjust this. There is a good tweak guide here:

Actually, that happened to me a couple of times, and I've talked to others who've had the very same problem. For me, it usually happens entirely randomly. It's rare and unpredictable. What I usually do is that I save the game, quit, and restart. When I load the savegame then, everything's back to normal.

It's one of the few serious bugs I've encountered in Oblivion.

Sidenote: Interesting. I have an XFX 7800GT 256mb. Wonder if it has anything to do with that specific brand? That, or perhaps it's the nVidia driver. Or something else. Who knows.

i went through the guide cant find it...i emailed the guy who wrote it..maybe he may knows if we can truen it off.....but is really annoying as i cant play the game

yes it started only happening here and there..but know it happens so much i spend more time restarting the game than playin it...maybe it have something to do the the XFX Brand card...interested...i just hope the up coming patch will fix this problem..

i think this is the one im using ForceWare 81.33 Windows x64..as iam not at my pc now...i tried the orginal Nvvidia drivers but it was worse...

what version are you using?? maybe we can find a happy medium for now...i dont mind if i catn fix it fully as long as i can get to stop doing it EVERY tell i talk to someone!

well i tink i got my problem fixed..i have been playing it all evening and no crash!! touch wood!

so what i did was unistall the game(backup your save game) and re-installed it!! Dont Start the game!!

Installed Microsoft .Net Frameworks 2.0 WinXP 64Bit

Then I installed the following Drivers,

used this new Geforce driver....84.25_forceware_winxp64_international.exe

and for a new driver for my Nforce... nForce WinXP64 6.69

i got both drivers off Guru3D.com

and finally i followed this tweak guide, i did everything in it, before i start to even play the game...and you'll get that on.

9hrs later....game still running with out any crashes and i have alot of mods installed too.

ya it worked for me for abt 2days...then it started again...i have turned off HDR now..and havent had a prob..we just have to wait for the patch and hope it fixes the problem...

Hmm.. sounds strange. You don't want to install the beta patch then? It seems to be working good for me. At least I'm rid of the crash when quitting the game. It wasn't too serious since I quit the game anyway, but it was a bit annoying.

the patch doesnt appear to be addressing graphic problems..but sure will give it a try anyway.. thx man

i still didnt try the beta patch...i read alot of bad things abt it and how it can mess up all the mod IE. Texture packs etc..i just turning off the HDR..dont want to go through al the hassle of putin everything back in again!

Yeah I noticed the high quality distant textures does not work anymore. Actually I regret installing that patch, since I see there is a slight chance that save games from this version may not work with the next patch...

The only upside with it is that it fixes so many quest bugs apparently, which is good since I haven't yet done very many of those quests.
