Bethesda really missed out on incorporating a few small features of "Fable" into this installment of the Elder Scrolls. Namely the "sim" elements.

For instance, you need the option to court partners in the game---their availability being judged by your fame or completed quests---meaning, if you've closed a city's Oblivion Gate you could court the count or countess there. If you've done absolutely jack crap...you could court a beggar.

Each courtship itself could carry small quests---searching for prized jewels or doing favors for the person's family. If your mate is wicked---you may have to kill for their affections. You could even have to beat the living hell out of another possible suitor.

Once the missions are completed you can join them in marriage, and purchase a home where that person will almost always remain, unless they have a skooma habit or like to shop a lot.

From there, you could be unfaithful in other cities, or even follow Bill Paxton into a ficticious life of polygamy.

And I don't really the know the modding capabilities these days---but having offspring that are facial amalgamations of you and your partner would be the shizzle.

It is a possible mod idea (I remember the Indiana James and Laura Craft mods for Morrowind - they lacked in depth, but with Oblivion's Radiant AI system, almost anything can be done!)

It's a nice idea, one problem, you'd need to make models for babies to young adults. It would take a LOT of work and effort to make a convincing age system for your offspring. I guess it would make more sense to cut age out of the picture, I mean your character dosnt age, neither does anyone else in Oblivion, meaning you'd have a newborn baby nagging your wife till then end of her days. Also, would twins, triplets e.t.c make an appearance in the mating system?

Well.. I can't stand "the sims" games personally.. Why do in a video game what you can do in real life.. (as far as dating and stuff goes)..

But, hey to each his own..

Anyway.. one thing I do like about this mod is the idea of kids..

Now.. I don't want any myself..(real life or oblivion.. I'm 17... too young to be a dad 0.o)

But, I would like to see kids in oblivion... I mean.. its kinda wierd that everyone is over 18 0.o..

Ah the pitter patter of little feet... sounds cool
lev_the_devil
yeah, i thought the lack of kids was really creepy. that and almost everybody lived by themselves, or at least seemed to.
HOLYBOB
not trying to be rude but i just like the idea of making children maybe u could make a new item that can be used for protection wink.gif
minque
Emma made a good children-mod for Morrowind......
Panxter
hmm... maybe the charecters DOES age...... but in REALTIME winkgrin.gif winkgrin.gif winkgrin.gif try to play the game in 50 years and well see again XD

I think there may be a problem with putting kids in the game with all the violence that can be done to them. Having a kid sprawled on the cobblestones with arrows through his head might cause problems with the ratings board. How does the SIMs deal with violence and child NPCs?
Ibis
The children in Morrowind mod that Emma and others made was incredibly involved. It involved new models for infants to children to teens, child voice acting which went on for months, scripting for aging - it was an elaborate project involving many people.
And came towards the end of Morrowind's main popularity so that not so many people ever got to try it out. But still, they did it.

I thought the characters and players do age in Oblivion. Isn't that why we have an age slider in the face/gen tool?

You select your age at the beginning and stay the same for the rest of the game. Npc characters are always the same age as well. smile.gif

The only slider bars for age that I really like are for the Argonians - they seem to be real green when young and get reddish as they age.
Hanz baby
hey if theirs kids then theirs love makin correct? huh.gif

=o well i don't know about the conception aspect, but i realy liekthe idea of offspring.

Could somone copy over the maps from morrowind?

hmmmmmm my mind at work again:
Since the Emperor died, the Council took over, and since it's a pretty drastic change from a Monarchy to a Democracy, it will be a long time for all the kinks to be worked out at the top, leaving the Empire weakened for a few generations. Since most adults in the Imperial Provence are pretty loyal to the Empire, there won't be too big of a problem there untill the kids grow up, trying to be loyal to a fledging democracy full of corruption bla bla bla. To add to this, even tough mainland Morrowind is fairly loyal, Vardinfell seccedes from the Empire, and in it's weekened state, the Empire can't do much. The solution? The Empire mandates that all children will be trained from age 2 to the age of 18 to serve in the Legion, to #1 make sure they don't revolt, #2 gain a force strong enough to recapture Morrowind.

meanwhile, you find a spouse, fall in love, and have a kid. Your kid gets taken from you to serve in the Legion, and you don't see him/her for 16 more years, when he is discharged and put into the "reserves." You have a brief reunion with your son/daughter, but the Empire declares war on Morrowind, so your child has to go and fight. You then assume command of your child character, and (cutscene) you travel to Morrowind, to be part of the asuult (end cutscene). what you would do in the war would depend on you and your spouse's race. Forinstance, if your child was Dunmer, you could blend in with the populus, become a double agent, climb up the ladder, and aid the war effort in that way, whreas if your child was Kajiit they could be an assassin, or an imperial would become an officer, issuing orders and such.

I Love the idea of the 'CREATION' of offspring! I wonder how good the graphics on the process of creation would be!!!!!

@Phsyron: o.o

That's a lot to take in, but I love the concept.
Ibis
Totally an aside ... but Toroabok, I love your sig
