I have a problem with the anvil "where the spirits have lease" quest. I have bought the mansion, slept in the bed, killed the ghosts, found the previous owner in the imperial city and talked to him. Now i have listened to everything he says but he refuses to come back to anvil. His disposition is maxed but every time i talk to him about "lifting the curse" he replies that its "my problem, i have to deal with it" I've looked on internet but all it tells me is that hes supposed to travel back to anvil when i ask him. Any suggestions? thanks

If you talked to the barkeep after you talk to benirus, you've bugged the system. You'll need to restart the game before traveling to Imp City and make sure you talk to barkeep first, then Benirus. He should make the trip for you then. You may have to improve his disposition towards you by either charm spells or persuade minigame, though I'm not sure of that - didn't have a problem with getting him to offer to come back to Anvil.

You'll get plenty of other houses, and those you get the pleasure of furnishing yourself!

No, I had this also. What this means is there were still ghosts in the house when you left. I had to come back and finish off a ghost that was hiding upstairs and the ones in the basement. Then he helped me.

Ahh, hadn't thought of that.... before going to talk to Benirus at the Anvil lodge, you gotta kill all the ghost there at the time.... then go to the lodge, then meet him in Imp City. My glitch came as I mentioned before because I talked to the Imp City barkeep after talking to Benirus there and then Benirus never came back to Anvil... I fixed that by going to an old save and ignoring the barkeep.
Don't forget you also need the shriveled hand from the floor when you kill the first round of ghosts. Then Benirus will open the door for you to confront his ancestor.
