Imagine the possibilities if we could revamp this engine to do the Wild West. We would only have to change the dialogue, quests, and skins. I would add more to the attributes of horses. They need to eat and drink. For that matter so do we. I came up with this idea a LONG time ago when Morrowind came out. I talked with a guy from Jaleco about it and all of a sudden there were TONS of Wild West style games.
But none were ever done the way I wanted. An RPG version of the west. You could be a lawman (Imperial guard type guild) or a Naturalist (Mage Guild) or a Lawlessman (theives guild) etc...
Races would include Easterner (oriental), Native, Westerner, European...etc...
Classes would include Monk, Theif, Fighter/Warrior, Rancher, Shamen...etc...
This could still work using chaotic and good attributes like in most RPGs.
In fact the only problem I see is the politcally correct thing that a lot of people would have a problem with.
In fact forget it - I think I'll call up American McGee and tell him about my Wizard of Oz Idea

MAN! I need to lay off the Skooma.

Actually you aren't alone, my friend. There are others (me) dreaming of that game. I personally have been dreaming of it since Morrowind. And I'll tell you this---the first company that makes it, and makes it right, will be sickly rich.
If the map was large enough---(maybe even bigger than Oblivion's)---and being a Rancher really entailed feeding your animals, and being an OUtlaw meant rounding up a posse and raiding a train----that will be the single greatest game ever made.
Someone will end up doing it---and who knows, GUN 2 (coming in October) may surprise us---although I think they're going for "GTA" instead of "Elder Scrolls".
Hang in there---we'll get our game one day.

For some reason, I'm getting
Trigun vibes just thinking about a TES western! It sounds like a good idea, but the amount of work necessary will be enormous, to make a vivid, believable world. And, for me at least, no wild west is complete without Vash the Stampede!

Trigun.. I love it.. and I would prefer to keep it away from oblivion 0.o
ANd I don't know..
I think the outfits would look kinda.. corny on some characters..
Just imagen an argonian in chaps.

Mkay........Saji thinks this is not a good idea.....just wild west of course....that would...be.....meh....you would have a get decent animators and voice acting, I mean, this would be a complete game by itself, now I'm not against full-blown mods....but wild western??? Just...no.....
Now, A Trigun mod, following the anime, I'm all in for that, of course trying to get the voices and stuff....well, it's be shweet if you could do it ^___^

Saji..
I really don't think trigun would go too well..
Think about it.. lost technology.. guns ect ... I really don't see that in oblivion..
Mostly the idea of "lost technology" not fitting.

But it would still be sexy to actually see it work and it be half-way decent >,<
A fat man can dream can't he >.<

I'm not saying you can't dream..
I just think it would kinda ruin oblivion to randomly have the world changed to a place of sand, dust, bright sun, and people trying to get back to their home planet..

I see what you are saying....but I think richg wants to do a full blown mod using the oblivion engine as a basis.....or am I wrong, richg?

Oh.. You mean a totally new game..
I wouldn't be opposed to a totally new game.. buuuttt, I don't think a "sand box trigun" would work too well it would have to have a kinda set point to it.. and it shouldn't be too open.
Otherwise it would kill slaughter and rape the feeling of trigun.

Most agreeable, I mean, that would just be.....words cannot describe the pain one could be in...

Hum.. I think it would have to have a certain "resident evil" feel to it..not a "survival horror" aspect.. but, more of a you feel rushed to get place to place..
Knives would have to pop up out of the blue and start shooting at you and you have to find cover feeling. Sorta like nemsis popping up with a chain gun and you being in a frenzy to get behind the table/bar/ whatever (note it probably would be more of a random person lookin for bounty then knives but, I pulled the first name of of the hat that came to mind)
