Full Version: Afraid to Level Up

Black_Waltz
Meh. This is starting to annoy me. After learning about how enemies scale in levels with you I am afraid to level up. On my main character I have already maxed my agility and speed (Nice little archer elf). And I am afraid of keeping up on damage if I advance in levels much more. I am on level 15 right now and the enemies are tough enough as it is. Does anyone else have this dilelema? I have joined the Mages Guild in order to eventually get access to enchanted weaponary, but that will take time and meanwhile I only have my 12 damage Elven bow and a wide selection of posions to keep folk at bay...
Frostblade10
Thats exactly why i use my dremora 2 hander and not a bow.
ThanadoS
my sword kills everything that comes along right now (and gets better as i lvl up through blade skill). If i need help i can summon some atronach who beats the sh1t out of my enemies and if that all shouldn't work i blast my foes away with destruction magic high class. No problem for me. I know from morrowind though... archer characteres are tough to play smile.gif
softwhisper
just wait a few more levels. you'll start to run into enemies that drop better, and sometimes enchanted, bows. explore a few dungeons, you may find some decent attribute and skill enhancing armor as well.
Fuzzy Knight
If it gets to tough go to Options, Gameplay and the Difficulty Slider smile.gif Find the right kind of difficulty...

Have a level 14 Redguard Spellsword, so far I haven't had much problems with monsters, only the time when I fought one bear and two minotaurs in the Arena was pretty hard wink.gif

Wow Im trying not to finish the game to fast, but im only on level ten i think and have played at least 30 hours...

but yes i have a Q... how can I get some awesome sword and somehow enchant it or something to basically kill most things one hit and awesome light armour plus imperial watch helmet cos my guy is a redguard who owns at acrobatics, speed, blade, block, light armour, etc etc and is my reincarnation of achilles! so i wanna pwn everything in the game as eays as achilles would tongue.gif

I'm a level 21 Bosmer thief. So far I have found no challenging monsters, apart from when I was level one in the first Oblivion gate.
Vampirism has helped, I think.

Wow,i can't belive Trolls weren't giving you trouble wacko.gif
How did you fight them?
Konji
It was just some bandit camps/caves. Got a lovely bow with fire damage +15. And some silver arrows. Unfortunately I did not know of poisons, I saw them and threw them away because I thought if you clicked on them they would posion your character. smile.gif

Leveling scares me not.
You get so many abilities that leveled enemies are more of a challenge but aren't too hard.

That's the spirit!!!
What's the game worth if it isn't at least a bit hard?
Besides when you level, available loot levels with you smile.gif

That's because you're a high level.
Soon you won't be able to level up at all.You almost reached your limit.

Well, as the enemies adapt to your level, you must adapt to them. Get some poweful gear from caves and exploring, patch any holes in your combat and look for the little things that can make you stronger. I'm sure you can beat anything that comes at you. smile.gif

Ah, so the loot also changes when you level up? Been wondering why I don't find anything useful in the caves like I used to do in Morrowind. Still only level 7. I'm a Breton mage, so I guess I'll just keep casting spells until I get a decent level before I go cave-looting again.

Cheers.
Black_Waltz
Ah yes. I see what you mean. I revisited one of my old haunts (one of the vampire lairs) and got a loud of loot. One of the vamps dropped me a magical ebony bow. smile.gif Feeling a bit better about things now. Dungeon devling is a great way to increase your monies and armour. smile.gif
Parkillous
Do dungeons constantly replenish their "supply" of bad guys?
Black_Waltz
They do. And even better, all the treasure is replenished to treasure at your level aswell. I think it does take a couple of game weeks though.

You should level up, I just found some really co armor and weapons on my last outing. its really worth it

I agree. I've just reached level 10, and on my latest quest most of the bad guys had some nice stuff that gave me lots of money when I sold it. I can finally get me a house! smile.gif

Original poster: I know you're on level 15 (or probably more by now), but I'd just like to mention it. Besides, since my spells are getting stronger all the time I have no problems taking out the bad guys. Usually kill everyone with a 2-3 fireballs.

Btw, how did you get an Elven bow with a 12 rating? One of the bad guys I killed just now had an Elven bow, but it only has a damage rating of 3...?

level up your marksman skill. My elven bow used to do only 7 damage but now it does 10 damage.

Ah of course, thank you. I never really use bows, and so my marksman skill is 6-7 or something... biggrin.gif Find it more to my liking to cast destruction spells on ranged targets.
Black_Waltz
Well my idea was to go in for a LotR archer nobility elf. Kind, helping and a bloody good shot with a bow.

Doing much better now thanks to the advice. Vampires are extremly good loot givers. I got a lovely 25 shock damage Ebony Bow last dungeon walkthrough.
Parkillous
A legolas character eh? funny, thats what my next is gonna be when i create it...

for now though my character is based on the uber pwnage that is achilles wink.gif
