Alright no doubt a noob question but im about 3 hours into the game, im just fighting at the arena alot, I managed to break into a shop at night, I wanted to buy something but couldn't be bothered waiting till the morning, now first thing is where do I get more lock pickers? and second, when I break in about 20 seconds or so later a guard is suddenly there and he bassically does the whole process of pay the fine, jail etc etc. Why does the guard come? there was no one in the shop. Also one time I broke into another shop and the owner was there, so he whines and says if I don't leave then he will call the guards, is there a quick way to kill him e.g. slash his throat or strangle him, because he takes forever to kill and by the time I kill him a guard comes and I haven't managed to kill a guard either, im lvl 1 btw.
Oh yeah is it possible to join the theives guild, if so how?
and I noticed the Dark Brotherhood as well, you just have to kill someone, but how would you go about killing someone without drawing attention?
Full Version: Getting caught
You have quite a lot of questions there.
The guard came to you,because somebody saw you while you were lockpicking the shop.Get in stealth mode (CTRL) and when the eye becomes transperent nobody can see you.Then lockpick.
To join the Gray Fox (Leader of the Thieves Guild) you just have to ask a beggar about it.You will need a little persuading though.Not to spoil it much just follow the instructions.
Lockpicks can be purchased in the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood.Theives Guild has more lockpicks in stock though.
To join the DB just kill a beggar.I'm not sure will it put you a bounty if you don't get seen.
I will also recommend you to visit Nocturnal Shrine and do the quest.You will find a very ''special'' thief item

The nocturnol thing is really cheap though. I love it!

Go to Leyawiin and ask the alchemist in the mages guild about daedric shrines.She will mark Nocturnal Shrine on your map
