I'm at the point that where I'm about to scream every time I see a troll. It's the only creature that can consistently pummel me to death. I have a stealth character, so I don't do much damage. Even if I manage to sneak attack it, if I doesn't kill the troll on the first blow (which I don't) they just regenerate health so fast that I can't kill them. Any suggestions other than wimping out and lowering the difficulty?

I'm a stealth char myself,and at lower levels i had the exact same problem.Right now i eat them for breakfast,but they were pain in the back when i was about level 10-15 (I'm not sure really,i don't remember)

You're a Marksman right?You will need a good bow (Dwarwen is about minimum required IMO) and some decent arrows.Just run backwards and shot the damn thing from distance.Oh,and do the critical hit will you.......

It's also highly recommendable to make poisons and poison your weapons.Are you an Alchemist?If you aren't it's time you start developing Alchemy at least as a misc skill.....Trust me,this will pay off.

Use your Illusion skill.Invisibility can be very useful,at start even more useful than Chameleon.However you will need a little bit more magicka for Invisibility.Or you can mix an Invisibility potion.

Eben with this,thet're not easy.And you don't have to fight them really:All the loot you get from a troll is Troll Fat.Just sneak past it.There will be enough time for payback at later levels

Thanks for the ideas. I'm actually a poison fanatic, so I'll see if I can maybe brew up some more powerful drain health potions. I do have a decent illusion score, but I am having problems finding anyone who sells chameleon or invisibility spells. I just recently joined the mages guild (only to get better prices and eventually the enchantment/create spell ability) so maybe I haven't looked around enough, but I've been to the guild that specializes in illusion and no luck (I think they didn't have either spell, but maybe I just couldn't afford the gold/mana level). I've also got the marksman ability and a dwarven bow, so I'll try just going a little stealthier in areas where I know they hang out.

trolls are the reason I try to stick to fast travelling.

Don't quote me on this,but i think that Bravil Guild specialises in Illusion.Also,Dark Brotherhood has some decent Illusion spells.....

hmm trolls were never much of a bother to me... ogres on the other hand... they walked all over me religiously.... not anymore tho

all i did was (apart from starting with high agility for bow damage), run away and keep shooting, it might take a LOT of arrows, but it gets the job done. this is the way i killed umbra WAY before i should have been able to as well. a really high AGI score is the way to go. and if you can get a decent fire enchanted bow (sometimes found on bandits and marauders) that helps a lot too.

<- stealth character with no illusion or alchemy skill made it a little harder to start out.

trolls weren't a problem for me either (i'm a mage though) because as hypno said, they go down like wet eggs in a decent fire storm

Fire poison is definitely the way to go!

Shoot it, then run like hell and wait until it dies. Also, shooting from a dark spot and then, as soon as you fire, seeking cover so it can't see you helps greatly.

Is it possible to go stealth after the troll has seen you? It's always seemed to me that once someone sees you, you can't hide without something like invisibility. Am I missing something?

Hint:
If you're hiden in a shadow and VERY long distance,you can shot creatures and they won't detect you.They will just stand there wondering where did it come from.But this requires a high sneak skill,and as i said it must be done from a very long distance.

Also when you shot an arrow to a Troll get out of there quickly but not while in runing mode!Stay in stealth mode and move yourself out of sight,somewhere in the shadow.The Troll will come,but if you hiden yourself well and you're lucky you will stay undetected

But once he's seen you....It's very hard to lose his trail exept with an Invisibility spell or if you run away long enough from him

Ogres are VERY easy if you're a Marksman And poisons work for them too
I don't know how is it to fight them melee or with spells though........

What are the ingrediants to create a fire poison??

I've never even seen a fire poison.

Here's a few:
Fire Salts + Imp Gall
Fire Salts + Spiddle Stick
Imp Gall + Steel Blue Entaloma Cap
Imp Gall + Spiddle Stick (Fire Damage+Damage Health,very good)
Spiddle Stick + Steel Blue Entaloma Cap

However,most of them are available only at expert and master alchemy perks

I thought you could only create potions and poisons with two of the same type of effect?

Actualy i know a poison that has 5 (negative) effects.
Ingridients:
Wispstalk Cap + Fennel Seeds + Harrada + Morning Glory Root Pulp
Effects:
Damage Intelligence + Damage Magicka + Paralyze + Damage Health + Damage Willpower

But when I bring an ingredient up, and then choose my next one it shows nothing but something with the same type of effect.

You as an Apprentice are able to see just 2 effect of an ingridient.When you becaome a expert,you can see and use all 4 effects

There's a button you can press (on the 360 I think it's Y) that will show all of the ingredients, not just the ones with the same effect as the original one. You have to do this to get more than one effect (unless the first two ingredients have more than one thing in common).

Trolls make me glad I'm a battlemage. I just backpedal and spam flashbolt, then if they live through that I nail 'em with my Daedric claymore when they close range.

I'm happy I haven't encountered a troll yet. My poor healer would get crushed.

Is there anyway to kill them in a one shot kill by sneeking up on them?

Can you join more than one guild? and do the quests when you want?

1)At lower levels:No way.Critical shot for a bow is 3x and for a melee weapon 6x.That's not nearly enough to kill a Troll in just one shot.At least on Normal difficluty.

2)You can join ALL guilds.Like i did
And you do quest whenever you want it

I have another question lol.

Im in the jewlers shop, in the imperial city im in the theifs guild but I just wanted to burgle this place as its got alot of bling bling. Anyway I went in the shop picked the very hard locks, but now theres 2 cases with some nice bling in them, but I need a key, so my guess is the owner has it, I went upstairs opened his door, crept around and searched every where in his room for the key, but nothing, so now I decided to steal it off him, so I hit the pick pocket, and he has a key so I click it and all of a sudden he wakes up and catches me, I can never seem to steal it without him knowing, how can I do it so he won't catch me?

I do have a theif ability in my character but just to open very easy locks with magic, but I can't steal this key from this shop owner any help?

GBet your sneak up, download the better sneak mod to make sleeping people easier to steal from.

You have to raise your sneak skill high enough so that you can pickpocket people sucessfuly.Some boost in Luck can help too.

Well just for a try out, I used this chameleon cloak, I got from the goblin at the start of the game, I was able to get the key without disturbing him, opened up the two boxes, got the loot worth about 1k in total, and picked every other box, got about 2k altogether, left him broke . Just wondering but does his stock ever replace because I would burgle him again if he replaces his stuff.

Stuff that is expensive doesn't generate again.Food and Clutter does

And just to let you know,on later levels 1,000 is an unworthy loot.....You will allways find Daedric stuff that is worth 2,000+ .I made quite a bussines by selling Daedric Daggers

hah, i did a split character, half stealth half heavy armour and weapons boat-kicker. i ususally sneak up on enemies like trolls and shoot them from the hiding, then fire arrows into them until they get near to me, then i whip out my sword and launch into them with a forward power attack. screaming "'AVE IT!"

oh and a good tactic i found for melle weapons, just get a weapon that you can swing really fast. i found that with weapons like that (katana, f'rinstance) you can just keep smacking enemies with an unrelenting barrage of blows and not give them room to breathe, let alone hit back. ive killed those annoying skeletal guardian blokes without getting hit once by doing this. oh, but if they have a sheild or youre a bit slow, then you can end up recoiling right back and getting a whuppin.

Where can I find Daedric stuff, for both myself and to sell, is there a location where they are? or do you get it in a later level?

You get daedric stuff at 20+ level

I read in a friends strategy guide that you get daedric/a quests, the first one you can be as low as level 2 you have to find a book entitled 'modern heretics' up in the jareel mountains I think.

Anyway someone else told me you can find daedra stuff at the oblivion gates that you close.

Oh yeah is there anyway to get away with murder?

If no one sees you kill you get away with it (I think). So you'll have to be alone with the victim.

Well, my healer encountered his first Troll today. All I can say is... Mage's staff of Shock ftw!

I encountered my first trolls last night, inside a cave. They were much easier to take out than other enemies. One 20 damage fireball and they were dead. Other bad guys require 2 or 3. Am I missing something? I'm level 13.

Read the first few posts.Trolls are easy to kill with fire,but with a weapon.....They are hard as hell.

LOL this is kinda wierd but I found the painted trolls in the cheydinal brush with quest quite hard and only a couple levels later when i versed real trolls for the first time above bruma they were so easy with a blade...

btw I havent got many spells atm im still on like flare which is 5 pts fire and it does nothing to em... but i think i can go by apprentice spells now, hurray!

uh, saves me making a new topic, but this seems to be a popular thread, in the emma may ship for the quest I go in kill the usuall ghosts, then go down into the lower deck, and this ghost/wrath by the look of it, with a hood, I can't kill it, it keeps firing this orange lighting at me, then I become overencumbered then my willpower and health drains very very fast, I managed to block it a few times, but he just keeps doing it. I tried some spells as well but didn't really do any harm, how can I kill him?

i killed it with a bow.Are you a stelth char?'Couse arrows can be useful.
You may consider taking less loot in your inventory.Also make sure your weapons are well repaired,that you have a large amount of potions in your stock,and that your weapon has charges.I'm sure ot won't be such a pronlem if you're some decent level.
