I decided to model a new kind of mushroom for the city I'm putting together, to add more shroom variety to it apart from the toadstool and shelf-fungus I'd modelled before. Granted, I have Luminous Russola, Bungler's Bane, Hypha Facia and Violet Coprinus as well, but the climate for this city means they wouldn't grow there.

Anyway I was rather happy with how it turned out and thought maybe some of you guys might like to use it in your mods as well, so I thought I'd release it to the community as a "standalone" not bundled with the Reich Parkeep Alpha I'm otherwise working on. Hope you guys like it.

Dedicated to all the fine folks who support a FREE modding community, both in terms of commercialism and uncrippled Construction Set. An extra cheers goes out to the modders among us who are working diligently to solve the limitations of the CS - keep it up, I know that with your talent and effort our community will come through, and modding for Oblivion become as much fun as modding for Morrowind was!

I've included a screenshot in case you'd like to quickly see how these models look before deciding for yourself if you'd like to use them.

This isn't a playable mod as such. Rather, it's intended as a potential resource for modders to use in their own mods. To do that, you should create two new entries in the Construction Set, and specify the two included NIF files. I suggest you add these items under the Flora tab. In case you'd like to check out how I set it up I've included an .esp with the mushrooms already added.

There is no collision, bump or specular maps on these models, more due to the limitations of the Civ4 exporter than the limitations of my knowledge. Because there's no collision, you can't interact with the mushrooms to for instance pick ingredients from them.

REICH PARKEEP IS LOOKING FOR SETTLERS

"Proria" is one of the many, many new models being produced by the Silgrad Tower team for our Oblivion mod.

Our mod is being built from three different directions, and one of these directions originate in a town called Reich Parkeep - which I'm in charge of developing. Did you know that Reich Parkeep is a town based in lore, and that you could actually visit it in The Elder Scrolls I: Arena? It's true, and thanks to fellow team member Rodan we have lists of locations from all the towns in Arena. Characters hidden in the deepest recesses of lore, like Vaniken R'i, stores like the 'Village Accouterments' and 'Elite Gear', bars like the Screaming Helm and Golden Gryffin - we're bringing them all back in our take on Reich Parkeep, which I hope will be a hoot for real veterans of the series.

Here are the latest batch of screenshots from the city:

More can be found here.

I'm overjoyed to see that several settlers have begun moving into the town. Out of the 33 initial claims that were available, 8 have been taken. Not that there isn't a lot of good ones left though - the castle, the cathedral, Guild of Mages, Dark Brotherhood sanctuary, shops and homes are still there. For more info on that, please check out the following thread, and don't hesitate to pitch your own ideas on what kind of place you'd like to mod:

Very nice, Razorwing. I downloaded the mushrooms. How are you able to insert your own models into Oblivion when everyone is waiting for an importer? Oh, or are these mushrooms that are in the game that you retextured?

Either way ... nice work! I like your other photos of your city you show.
