When you become a member of Arcane University you can enchant your items. That's where Soul Gems come out.Unfortinatly this is the only way i know to enchant weapons......It was confirmed by the devs, and i am to become a member of Arcane University soon.......Just one more recommendation......When i become i will give you the details.

Enchanting is still pretty good, but neutered compared to MW. Once you're in the mages guild you can enchant at the Arcane University. The sould gem and soul define how much of an effect it has, not the item you're enchanting. You can't wear robes/clothes over armor, either. All enchants on wearable items are constant effect, and all enchants on weapons are on strike. You can enchant steel armor with the same +10 fortify strength that you can daedric armor. You don't need any skill to do it. You can enchant items/weapons with sigil stones from closed Oblivion gates without going to the altar. You get your own enchanting altar when you become mage guild Arch-mage.
Soul gems are plentiful in game so don't be shy to use them.
I don't bother using them to recharge weapons, however. Varla stones do a MUCH better job of that.

True, but there how many Varla are there?
While Supply of Varla stones is limited, you can trap as much souls as you want.So what do you do when you run out of Varla stones?

well i bought the spell soul trap, then i summon a creature, use soul trap on it and then kill it, it then goes into one of my soul gems

Why did you qoute me?I didn't ask that,i allready know that!
You probably wanted to qoute MarkII

Anyway,Mark you will need a Mysticism of 25 to cast a 20 Seconds Soul Trap.Don't worry is you don't have it as a Major it's very easy to develop, just cast some weak Detect Creature Spells and you will have it in no time

Quite simply, they are there to charge your magic items. You trap a soul in them, and use the trapped souls to power your weapons. Simply just click on the stone and select which item you want to use it on.

I see that you were lazy enough to read my previus message.
Just go to the Imperial City Market District,Go to Edgar's Discount Spells, and purchase a Detect spell.I am also a non-magical character, but with this spell i was able to train my Mysticism just fine
