First off, thanks to everyone who participated, it's become a great success and all thanks to you.
At the end, there were close to 200 entries into the contest, naturally not everyone could win, but we give you the top ten as chosen by the judges:
  1. Sugerflash as Khajiit
  2. Almalexia (Anonymous entry)
  3. Altair as Dunmer
  4. Jov Blackheart (Curse that witch)
  5. Corprus Stalker (Anonymous entry)
  6. Jormungandr as Wayrest kid
  7. Zackirs as Breton
  8. Demona as Daedra Seducer
  9. Rienne as Nocturnal
  10. Captain Eldrad as Ordinator
Now to all of you, congratulations you were voted best out of 200 entries!

To the top three; Sugerflash, Almalexia and Altair, please send me a pm and I'll explain the way we're getting you your prize.

That leaves but one thing, thanks again to everyone! To all the participants, to the judges, and the warm responses everyone got from the forum members here and definitely not in the least, thanks to Bethesda, for both their support to this and their donation of Prizes.

Great contest, congratulations to all the top 10 and a little extra for the top three wink.gif Really good pictures, well deserved to come on top smile.gif
Altair
Hi everybody/judges!
I don't understand what were the criteria and how the descision was made. I don't understand why in top 10 there are participants with non-tes related costume (aquired in some fantasy store) and armour (Zackirs and Jormungandr), people on terrible background and with inaqurate costume (Rienne).
I don't understand why Chiglet, Samain and Anders and some others who have 100% TES and handmade stuff are not listed at all. I also do not understand why Ordinator is only position 10, despite the fact he is not worse then Almalexia (I think that's because of Political Correctness).

So, I won? But I'am not satisfied at all with judgement. I think my pictures were perfect - handmade clothes, in-game Morrowind makeup (complicated and accurately made), haircut (I'm not punk in regular life evillol.sml.gif ) and even the background. So for me the third place is just a looser sign sad.gif I want my prize to go to Anders with his "relaxing with fleen 2"

Altair (and Maria, who has made all the stuff and a haircut)

I'm sorry to hear that Altair, and I'll honor your choice and contact Anders for her prize.

However, trying to avoid a discussion here, as I don't want to defend either my or the other judges picks, I would like to ask you a question, What defines The Elder Scrolls?
Sure, a nord and a dremora definitely define TES, but there's so much more to TES then just that. There's also the wayrest kid to take a nice example, I've heard responses from a lot of people that as soon as they saw that pic of Jormungandr, they recalled their meeting in Daggerfall.

And one small other thing, yes creativity and effort were definitely taken into account for judging this contest, at least for me, but I don't think it's fair to deem someone less good then say Chiglet, simply because Chiglet's costume was hand made and someone else had a costume he didn't handmake.

But as I mentioned, we'll respect your decision, and contact Anders instead.

Alex.
Altair
Ok, anyway, thanks for a contest! At least we all will keep these nice photos smile.gif
And what defines TES - for me it's spirit and atmosphere.
Fethenwen
*psst* hey, Altair I also think that you should have won the contest.
Altair
Thanks, Fethenwen! This is more important for me than judge's descision.
And I want to say that I really like your photo in Dust Adept helmet!
Sugerflash
Sorry for the lateness of this but I just found the thread.

First off I would like to thank the organisers and judges of the competition and to Bethesda for providing the great prizes.

This competition was for me a fun and significant way to mark the long awaited release of Oblivion. It was a great way to get my mind off those worries that so many of us went through such as whether my PC would run the Oblivion or will I be able to get hold of a copy of the game by the weekend to actually have time to play it.

My daily routine for the few weeks the competition ran was to get up, make coffee, check the entries, laugh/cry, go to work, come home, check the entries and forum, go to bed. Thank the nine divines that the game came out or I wouldn’t know now what to do with myself now.

With so many great entries I can’t believe I actually won. I salute each and every one of the contestants, well done everyone. There should be prizes for everybody who entered.

Thanks must go to my girlfriend who when I asked her to make me look like a Khajiit first said “a what?” then took three hours helping me with my make up. Thanks also goes to my friend who lent me the clothes and took the photos for me.

So again thanks to everybody involved.
(If I believed using emotes I would be putting a big grinning smiley face here)

Now Altair,

Altair you came third out of how many entries and just because you didn’t get higher you dismiss the entire competition? A sore loser is one thing but a sore winner?????. I wonder would you still have withdrawn if you had came second?

Ill agree with you there are some surprises in the top ten but then I’m not a judge. The competition was to “Dress up as a citizen or monster of Tamriel” it was up to the 7 competition judges to interpret what that meant when they cast there votes and as the rules state “All decisions of judges are final and cannot be appealed”. Store bought or handmade is a mute point it is what the individual entrants did with those items that mattered.

All the serious entrants in this competition think that their entries are ‘perfect’ or else they wouldn’t have entered, but rather than perfect let’s say as ‘good as we could do’. I can see the flaws in my entry and you should be able to see those in yours.

I am sorry to see that you have withdrawn but I don’t think you should have the right to dictate who your prize goes to. In my opinion it should go to the next entrant on the list “Jov Blackheart (Curse that witch).”

Well done people! I think everyone who participated did a great job! Especially that Trio who did the Altmer mage, Khajjit slave, and Nord Horker hunter, I loved those pictures!
Elias
Thanks Vaanic~one! Spring is here now in Sweden so unfortunatly the Horker has melted. I'm the Nord in the pictures, the mage is my girlfriend. She's the one who sculpted the Horker out of snow and convinced me to enter with her and and her brother (the Khajiit). We didn't have a lot of cool clothes so we went for creativity instead. It's fun to hear that someone liked them, apart from ourselves.

I can also add that it was about minus 15 degrees Celsius when we took the pictures with the fur underwear. It took a couple of hours before i could feel my feet again smile.gif .

Wow,the Dunmer should really have won!!!
I mean look at him:100% Ashlander!!!
And Almarexia chick is really hot evillol.sml.gif I bet all the judges were male laugh.gif
Olav
Wow! ohmy.gif I didn't know about this competition. I'm amazed to see so many being so dedicated to a game series that you actually do all that effort to dress up like the characters!

I'm very impressed with this. Well done everyone. And the picture with the Dunmer Ashlander is truly atmospheric. Look like it's from the game, only better!

Ooooh, I just adored this contest ... I think it was the best Bethesda based contest I've ever seen. I haven't checked yet, but I hope you are going to keep the photos up always as a tribute to these wacky/wonderful fellow players of ours. The world is more fun because of us, I think so anyway.
Now I know where all the premium armor has gone too when I get to the Oldsmar Flea Market late in the day and the gypsyfellow merchant tells me the good stuff is all sold....right onto Bethesda/gamer backs, I see. Well, makes me feel better to know it all found good homes...tee hee. I am a polishing freak (the hubby is a drummer w/ alot of Zildjians and a chromed BSA bike) - so - I worry about armor and weaponry going to ungrateful homes where their shine isn't attended to. But I know Morrowind/Oblivion fans will take heed and polish. No worries.

That said, I am so happy that SugarFlash made the top grade. I was so ataken with him, that I made him a starring NPC in my first Oblivion mod - I always start all Elder Scroll games with khajiits. I hope this is okay with SugarFlash - you are a king of a small kingdom (it actually fits in a rather sprawled out cellar underneath a deserted house in Anvil) but you have 7 female khajiits vying to wait on you paw n foot. Let me know if you don't like the use of your nombre and I'll change it, if so.... biggrin.gif
