Full Version: Most Powerful of them all?
Chorrol.com > Elder Scrolls Games > Oblivion cheats and hints
MasterSaji
Well, I've been wondering if anyone "knows" what the most powerful weapon is in the whole of Oblivion? evillol.sml.gif I need to kill kill kill!!!
Ola Martin
I don't have a clue, my best weapon is a fine steel longsword enchanted with 10hp absorbation tongue.gif
Volsung
My elven long sword keeps increasing it's attack power as I level up. I think it's a pretty powerful weapon. The Akaviri warblade I had in the beginning of the game was good too.
Zelda_Zealot
Well do you count enchantments for its power or do you mean just normal damage wise?

P.S. This should be in cheat and hints, as it is a spoiler.
Volsung
Normal damage wise. My elven long blade does 16 damage.
ThanadoS
i believe but am not sure, that the glass weapons do the highest damage, please correct me if i'm wrong.
Foster
Daedric weapons do more damage than glass. That's why I've moved on to a deadric shortsword - it's better than my glass longsword.

By this I don't mean the ones you get in oblivion, I mean the armour class that makes you look cool and you get after Glass. Considering the way the other classes go, my guess is the most powerful non-magical item is a deadric claymore.
Zy Roder
What about Umbra? If you don't trade it in, it's a pretty sick weapon.

Yeah in fact if you don't even go back to the shrine it won't weigh anything (It still counts as a quest item.), plus it does 29 damage for my character with 100 blade. So unless you want blunt or maybe a daedric claymore it does the most damage wise.

It does 33 damage with my char. who's 99 in blade and 100 in armorer biggrin.gif (I can repair items to %125)

Armor skill is much cooler now, gotta begin armor myself biggrin.gif
Furious_George
Armorer is now a CRITICAL skill.
I was soo excited when I made journeyman and could fix my magic items. Now for expert!

I used my elven shortsword for a while. Using an ebony longsword enchanted with absorb health 10pts now... I also like the DB glass axe with soul trap on it you get when you kill the orc in the DB santuary when you purify it smile.gif.

Strength and Level (I think) factor into the damage too.

P.S. Does armor count in this thread? Or is it just weapons?
Cadaver
Start a new thread for armor, what the hey!! Then we know where to look...
Luciro
A Daedric Warhammer tops the just damage list with 28 and I'm pretty sure there's probably a few magical versions out there that probably reach 30 with proper skill.
Zelda_Zealot
I found a list of every weapon in the game, Umbra in at 28 with only a few warhammers matching it, so unless you use blunt then Umbra in the best.

Also Goldenbrand does 22 damage with an extra 10-20 (Can't remember which) enchanted damage.
Cadaver
Can you provide a link to said list? Is it just a stats list of weapons or does it also tell their location? If so, post a spoiler warning for the people that dont like spoilers and yet are STILL snooping around in the Cheats and HINTS section, lol...

Cadaver
Blitz
If you just want to go on a Mass Killing Spree switch the difficulty to Easy I can kill a guard with 1 hit on easy with my Daedric Claymore but change it back for the rest of the game.

P.S. The last mission and the end of the game were pretty crap in my opinion.

It is just a list of the weapons (Plus the rest of the guide in there some where.).

Enjoy.
Wheeze
Well deadric weapons are good...
Furious_George
Reached expert.... Daedric claymore is now at 32, and with full Daedric strength-enchanted armor, it gets 32+ per hit, not including the enchantment on the weap - 10 pts absorb health (which is in effect 20 dmg per strike since it takes away from them and gives to you).
kitty_dust
ive had oblivion for a few days now but i find the darkbrother hood wepons come in handy when fighting low levels laugh.gif
Vrill
Weapons have speed too, so you can swing a dagger much faster than a Warhammer. So raw damage is not DPS.

That boils down to playstyle. I think a slow weapon like a Claymore or Warhammer, would be better if you like to Sneak with the 6X damage.

... that said, using a Daedric Dagger with Master of Sneak is quite effective!
Loki
I have 100 Blade skill, and the Deadric Claymore is Uber, but i believe if you have 100 Blunt skill then the Deadric warhammer is probably better.

You can't get sneak bonus with two-handed weapons.
An enchanted daedric longsword is great for that sneak bonus. My char is ~180
strength, expert sneak, and expert armorer - so he does tons of damage when sneaking!
Silmarillion=??
Golbrand and Umbra Sword biggrin.gif

Umbra's two-handed, so no sneak bonus. Goldbrand is excellent.
Xitaliz
I've heard speculation the most powerful is Goldbrand overall. i'm not to sure at this point though.
Khaine
I'm playing with Umbra as a sword (0kg is great !!!!) and a "Soul Vampire Daedric bow" (drain 20hp + soul capture for 2 seconds).
Olav
I like staffs, although I guess they don't qualify as weapons. I have a staff with 80 shock damage and one with 60 shock and 10 drain health for 5 secs I think.

Or I used to have them. Have just started a fresh game... kvleft.gif
Cadaver
I like skill 100 destruction, High Elf, Apprentice sign, touch spell that does 100 (fire frost or shock) for 2 seconds and 100% weakness to same for 2sec. Costs about 103 magicka, so with maxed int and the +200, you get about 3 shots on someone... If you know the enemies weakness and have one of each, you can get a short invisable spell and just go up them, whack them with it twice (should be at least 200-300 damage each hit, even if they resist some) then invisable, and repeat...

No sword, axe, mace or sneak attack bonus could top that. Magick beats melee... Even on like, Xivilai who absorbs magick, invis rules all... Just Goldbrand sneak attack her... or any weapon... you wont run out of magicka if your will is high or you have pots...

Loki
the most powerful weapon is the use of magic, trust me on that one

Magic isn't a weapon.
Not in the sense of this thread.
It's use can clearly be deadly though.
Ah, yes, I remember the ring in had in MW that did 100s of points of damage in like 150 feet or something crazy like that!
Silmarillion=??
I think that Goldbrand is the best wepond in the game biggrin.gif
I jused Umbrasword,but Goldbrand is better tongue.gif biggrin.gif
