Full Version: The Pale Pass Continuity error
Chorrol.com > Elder Scrolls Games > Oblivion cheats and hints
Foster
I just finished what is so far my favorite quest in the game, the whole Pale Pass saga, and I've just realised something. I don't think this is too spoilerish as you get everything at the start of the quest, I will, however, make a little space in case someone doesn't want to know what I'm going to say.

---

SPOILER!

---

When you get the Pale pass quest you find out that it's a) been lost for a thousand years, B) never been found, c) an Akavari base. You also discover, later in the quest, the name of the commander and what happened to it.

The problem is that I get a load screen on occasion saying that the first count of Chorrol, Jeyll or something, got the title for heroism at Pale Pass. Well...how? I mean, it was never found. The battle was, according to the Countess of Bruma and all the evidence, not fought there.

So how the flip did he get an award for heroism at something that was lost for eons, and even in his time was never found by the Imperial forces?

I noticed the same damn thing just a couple of days ago and it made me very confused wacko.gif

Edit: I think that it's dumb how you can't remove the ring that you get as a reward from your inventory because it says "You can't remove quest items from your inventory" I was like "WTF! I completed the damn quest and this ring is worthless compared to the rings that I already have so let me remove it from my damn inventory!" hehe embarrased.gif Oh, and the Akaviri madstone that you have to retrieve for the countess of Bruma is loads better than the ring that she gives you as a "reward".

When I finished the chest, I just waited till nightfall and took the necklace that was RIGHTFULLY mine back. Screw the Countess and her artifacts. GIMME MONIES PLZ!!1!11

People nitpick at this, when every inhabitant of Pale Pass -- and the messenger -- are all completely human?

i was looking in the contruction set and it seems that the reason that you can't remove it is because there are quests to upgrade it... not a lot tho... from Fortify Agility 7pt, Resist Magic 9% to Fortify Agility 10pt, Resist Magic 15%
but according to the construction set, you can't sell it even after its upgraded even tho the the price goes from 2004 to 3500... also goes from 0lb to 0.3lb
if you feel like it, you can go into the construction set and turn off 'quest item' and then you can sell it...

-up top, click File > Load and load Oblivion.esm
-expand Clothing
-click Rings
-under Editor ID, scroll down to MS12RingVipereye
-double click to bring up the edit screen
-deselect Quest Item and click OK
-up top, click File > Save, then save it as whatever you want
-at the Launcher (the screen that opens when you open the oblivion shortcut on your desktop), click Data Files
-select your file on the left and click OK
-load the game and there you go, you can drop, sell, or whatever you want
-PROTIP: you can edit the value of the item in the construction set also wink.gif

Well I don't think Pale Pass was actually lost, just that fortress could not be located... but that doesn't make sense... whatever I'm still trying to find the third chest in the valley from that damned barrel quest thing in the ice.

It bothered me too that I can't remove the ring form my inventory. However, I was looking through my active spells and discovered that I get the effects of the ring even when I'm not wearing it. Is it just me, or it that the case for you too? I don't mind having a 0lb ring anymore now that I know I get free bonuses!

Lucky honoured user (haha B-a-s-t-a-r-d gets replaced by Honoured user). My ring is just a useless piece of junk that sits around in my inventory.

yeah, i tested this by looking at my agility before i dropped it and after i dropped it. i do not get the effects by just having it in my inventory, unfortunatly

Ever consider the possibility that Tsaesci might not be the naga-ish snakemen 2920 makes them out to be? Or maybe, like every other 'beast' race and their granpa, have a subrace? wink.gif

I also have this quest but I'm not so far into it - Got to the Dragonclaw Rock or what it was called, read the journal which said I was suppose to go west - I continued west, didn't find any statue that was suppose to point north and I ended up in Chorrol kvleft.gif

Pretty sure it's my crappy english that won't allow me to understand the journal or something since I can't find my way to the command post indifferent.gif

Ok, ignore this - Found out where it is due to a new online map posted here biggrin.gif
