On the PC version, there are no loading screens in exteriors.

...But look at it this way: you got it on X-Box for the more leisurely couch-and-controller experience -- the game on X-Box has a more leisurely pace to match.
Dirox
hahaa

i dont know if that was intentional but you just dissed tha box good show wink.gif

On exteriors well.. ok xbox has a couple, couple every 100 feet..

no but i meant particularly in towns when going into *most* interiors from an exterior.

thats where i noticed the greated loading times.

unbearable sometimes

i ask myself if its worth selling something for fifty-75$ or should i just drop it all here and save the tele port load.. the dreaded going into the dang store load, loeaving the store only takes about 4-5 seconds but then the teleport back takes another minute or so, going into some buildings can take about ohh... 10 minutes (at the absolute worst) usualy only about 2 =P. But yea, thats if im teleporting across the map.

man people in the xbox forums say sh&% like well you dont gota walk all that way duh, just teleport.

and im thinkin, teleport? like there are truly great things about rpg's

1) Gaining a level
2) Reuniting with old friends in the nick of time
3) Barely surviving a super intense, long battle
4) Buying gear with better stats that just happends to look way better on you and matches your helmet on top of it
5) Music
6) Anything ive missed
7) And Enjoying the Scenery wile your walking town to town

and man.. for a game like oblivion it was such a shame for me, dampend the experiance about 50%

I have owned an xbox 360 for about 2 weeks

Oblivion for about 6-7 days

i am returning them both for a refund today or the next

buying a cord to display the pc on the tv screen ($80 for a good one)

and geting Oblivion for pc so i can start making mods again and this time im gona share them with you guys =)

P.S. sry for posting in the wrong spot

Yeah the loading in exteriors is fine, (on mine it takes less than a second so I dont notice it anyway) And going indoors takes about a max of 6 seconds, - dont know what everybody else gets?

I'm a bit surprised at the posts saying the Xbox 360 loading times are so bad. I've been pleased with how short the loading times are. No "teleports", gates or doorways have taken more than between 5 and 10 seconds (many are less), and the exterior loads of terrain or weather changes pass with a faint pause at most.

If you're planning to connect a PC to the TV, I'd recommend trying that first before returning the Xbox and burning your bridges. I tried the same on a 50" DLP and the picture looked great, but some of the bottom edge of the screen was cut off. It was useable, but the start bar and things like the HUD on the bottom of the display in OB were hard or impossible to see. I'm sure experiences will vary depending on what sort of TV, video card, etc. that you have, but make sure you're getting what you want. There are cables that work fine for less than $80 that would work fine for testing.

Just trying to be helpful here. Good luck and hope you get it "dialed in" soon so you can focus on enjoying the gameplay!

sins_to_dark, i hear that oblivion continualy uses the 360's hard drive to resave, and resave to reduce loading times and on some of the launch 360's this can cause slow down. So what one site recomended was cacheing the drive by holding down the A button at the start untill bethesda softworks came on the screen. I tried it, it works, stll slowish but less so, and you have to do that evtwice a day or somethin.. meh...
ANYWAYS i was wondering, d you have xbox live? if so mabey you could meet me on there some time (Soon returning 360) and compare loading times for just a couple doors?

MY GAMER TAG: Wisper Slade <--Exactly like that

Thx for you concern but ive already had experiance with several of those cordsand they are pretty good quality, no parts are cut off or anything.

And another thing i like is that Pc Has MODS!

i loved making them for morrowind

yep bye!

Take it from the guy with 2 cheapo 200 GB hardrives an Athlon XP 2500+, and a 9800. Loading times arent bad. And there are a few tweaks that can bump FPS up by a bit. Go on main forums under the technical issues and you will find tons of good junk.

I have a 2.4 GHZ Celeron processor.

and a 3 year old video card.

My load times are quick and seamless, even when looking down a grassy medow going into a dense forest unto the Jerall Mountains with the shillouette of the Imperial palace and city that are miles into the distance.

All my distance bars are maxed and it runs fine like wine.

I have a AMD64 2800+ processor, nVidia 6800 GT GDDR3 256MB AGP GPU, ASUS K8V-SE motherboard, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card, Two Western Digital 34.7 GB 10,000 RPM SATA hard drives. It runs great! There is a little lag, but overall it's good. The load times are seamless for indoors, and outdoors its like 5-6 seconds. Not too shabby at all!

That's cool. I'm a bit jealous, then. What format is your TV? I'm guessing an LCD or plasma would work better for PC's than my DLP, since they have dedicated pixels.

blink.gif Gomez, my good man... you are kidding, right ? You must be, because I also own a 2.4GHz Celeron and a lame MX440 (OK, so the card sucks BIGTIME, I'll have to get me a new one) and I have already abandoned the idea of running Oblivion on my PC... Please, if what you say is true, give us the info on your system and the game (in specific, how does OB handle rendering grass & all that tricky stuff, does it stall and crash often, the average FPS count... the works!)... please ?

Uhhhhhh? you ´re kidding? Sounds like my rig......hmm and my Oblivion will arrive next week....Mayyyyybe I´ll get the courage to install it...... ohmy.gif It might even run...
Luciro
I'm running a pretty moderate machine. A 6800 with a gig vid mem and a 3 gig process with a gig of ram. The more intense loads take about 4 seconds at the most. I get to read a screen message and then see one want to appear but I'm loaded in and ext just a lil' pause here and there usually means incoming rain.
Oblivion thus far would have been the primary reason for me to get a 360 but I figured the PC would be a better experience. Due to my past Morrowind experience.
