Hey all

can anyone post some screenshots of the game on different detail settings?

also for the record my system is

pentium 4 3.2ghz
1gig ram
256mb radeon 9600xt

from the system requirements of the game i figure i could play on medium settings.......well can i? tongue.gif
Khaan
You should be able to play on the highest fine:

My system:
Athlon XP 2800 +
1 gig ram
256 g-force 6600 GT

Plays it perfectly on the highest settings, my only annoyance is that you cant use Anti-antilising at the same time as HDR lighting sad.gif

WTF I have better system than you, and I can't play on highest without anti alising, somethings wrong here. By "highest," you meen averyting on highest, or some stuff like shadows or something on lower specs?
Frostblade10
Well, the pentium may have more mhz but athlons are generally faster. I used to have a p4 3.0 and i upgraded to an athlon 3800+ 2 ghz. MUCH FASTER

Yeah it runs perfectly, everything on the highest settings, although I turned 'Self shadows' Off because it looks like theyve all got beards laugh.gif Although when I first start it up it goes slow for like 15 secs, then becomes smooth. wacko.gif
MarkII
i have an athlon 64 3700+ with 1 gig of ram and a geforce 6600gt 128mb video card, and im running on medium settings with neither antialisinsng or that lighting thing, at 1024 x 768 but out in the wilderness it gets kind of chuggy.

and then i see mr Khaan up there talking about how hes running fine with high settings and i start to think: why cant i?
deafadder
maybe its cuas hes got s 256 as opposed to a 128???

just a guess
deafadder
so. any hance of some screenies then??
ThePerson98
Theres no way you are playing it 100% smooth on highest with a 6600. I use a 9800 and play it about medium. My brothers 6800 GT runs near highest. The 9600XT does NOT support HDR.

I can play it highest graphics. But with heavy lag
Inside with people: 15 FPS
Inside alone: 22
Inside battle: 10-20 FPS
Outside alone: 15 FPS
Outside with people/animalsL 10 FPS
Outside with battle: Lag hits and averaging at 12 FPS

Thats with max graphics. About medium graphics, what I run it on its
Inside with people: 22-25 FPS
Inside alone: 30 FPS
Inside battle: 25 FPS
Ouside alone: 24-30 FPS
Outside with NPCs: 25 FPS
Outside with battle: 17-25 FPS
Inside Oblivion: All avereaged at about 25 FPS

I know its a bit detailed. But thats about what you should get. A 9600xt equals near the 9800.
deafadder
thanks man, im happy with med settings

im getting the game pretty soon
ThePerson98
Medium settings looks great. You wont be disappointed. And anyway, oblivion isnt made to have everyone running it max graphics. There are tweaks you can run to make it so much better.

Tweak 1: Defragmenting. It does make noticable differences in speed. Go to Start\Programs\Acessories\System Tools\Disk Defragmenter

Defragment all drives, it takes awhile and the performance boost depends on how fragmented the drive was.

Tweak 2: Preloading tweak. Go to...
(Users name) Documents\My games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini

Change these lines to this

[OPENMP]
iThreads=20
iOpenMPLevel=20

Also change this line to what I listed

iPreloadSizeLimit=1000000000

Go on official forums and you can find even more tweaks. This makes the game load everything instead of threadloading, and it makes a huge impact on performance.

PS These tweaks are completely harmless, defragmenting should be done on every computer. And threadloading shouldnt be anything tough on your system. Dont worry.
Khaan
Yeah sure here's some screens:
I'm not sure if you can see all of them on my chorrol hosted bit.

Thanks for the tips, maybe I can run all in max now.
I got:
amd athlon 64 3500+
1 gig ram
and Dual 128 GeForce 6600 GT
This should be nearly good enough

Edit: maybe it's that it's 128 GeForce 6600 GT that slows it down alittle, but since I have two of em it should do it

HA! I just noticed that comps. are way better than the 360 at max settings because everything looks all smooth when it's far away on my screen but on yours it looks detailed even from a distance wacko.gif

Even console games are better on PC, for example, many n64 roms have better quality on pc than on n64 tongue.gif
Very sorry for goin offtopic and don't posting any screens, SORRY sad.gif
Ola Martin
Here's some screenies
Sitting on horse
Many people in imperial city today
Martial Arts Kahjit
My first charracter
I run the game on max graffics w/o AA and selfshadows(selfshadows look really ugly, sort of like everybody having a beard) and I have not edited Oblivion.ini in theese picks.

If you run the game on all the max graffics, you should try to edit the Oblivion.ini in: my documents/my games/oblivion/
Here you can set all the setings even higher, I specially recomend to find:
bUseWaterReflectionsMisc=0
bUseWaterReflectionsStatics=0
bUseWaterReflectionsTrees=0
bUseWaterReflectionsActors=0

And turn them into:
bUseWaterReflectionsMisc=1
bUseWaterReflectionsStatics=1
bUseWaterReflectionsTrees=1
bUseWaterReflectionsActors=1

now the game reflects trees people, stones, items and plants in the water.
This you can not add in the game properties.

WARNING: take backup of Oblivion.ini before editing.

Just open them in paint and then save them as .jpg files

QUOTE(Rane @ Mar 27 2006, 08:41 AM)
You need to edit the bAllowScreenshots=0 line in the Oblivion.ini file. Simply change the 0 into 1.

You may need to do this to both configuration files, meaning the one in ...\Documents and Settings\[Your Profile]\My Files\My Games\Oblivion and the one in ...\Bethesda  Softworks\Oblivion.

After that you can take screenshots in the game by pressing Print Screen on the keyboard. The game will save them as .bmp files in your game directory.
*

Edit: jpg files take one tenth of the place that bmp files take

Of corse I like console games best when played on a console, then you wont have theese small bugs you have on the computer. But I prefer games that is for both comp. and cons. played on a PC.

I'm playing on Ultra High Graphic with pretty much everythink at the highest without any probs - I'm currently making a movie via FRAPS "Inside Oblivion" where I've simply filmed from when I entered till I came out of Oblivion for the first time...

Specs: AMD 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM and GeForce 7800GTX smile.gif

See if I can conjure some screens asap wink.gif

Arenīt we getting a tad off topic here? Title of this thread says " Screenshots plz"....In my opinion there have been a lot of posts now without screenies!!!

Please go ahead and discuss things but also donīt forget to post a screenshots! itīs rather nice for those who have not got the game or are unable to play it! smile.gif

By the sounds of things, she doesn't even have the game yet. Also, Minque is a Global Moderator, which essentially means that she has free rain over these forums. wink.gif

EDIT: Sorry, no screenshots from me, you would only feel bad for me to see how crappy Oblivion looks on my computer.
ThePerson98
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/The...21-04-42-64.jpg

This is near lowest graphics, medium textures, 1024x768, 2x AA.

Most of my lag is processor, Athlon XP 2500+ can't run much. My RAM, and video card would run it fine. It suggested high textures for me, but 640x480!?
Why play the game if you can't even see it tongue.gif

Still using the akviri katana?
