Introduction

First off this is not exactly a mod anouncment. But it is an anouncment to all of you who enjoy creating mods.

To maximize the scale of the results for modding the ultimate goal is to have everyone working together to correct, enhance, and evolve oblivion.

Steps for Success

1) Lets start with small group of modders, anyone who wants to help out just leave a message here
2) Each can post what they are good at (Texturing, Scripting, Sounds ect.)
3) Start working on a mod together and help eachother out
4) When our first mod is complete we creat a list ( Compatibility List ) and slap our mod at the top
5) From there we add mods onto it, starting from the little touch ups until we fill the gaps then move on to projects that would take a bit longer to complete
6) We could also with permission include certain small mods to the list and give full credit for them after we thoroughly test it out with our mods

Keep In Mind

You are not obligated to make mods all the time or anything like that,
heck you could post once a week with a comment or sudgestion on a mod you would like to see, and we would be the group that makes it happen
so long as you are willing to help out a bit with the community.

I bought Oblivion for xbox and pretty much 1/4 of the time playing it was loading so im grabing it for pc tomorrow or the day after and Rejoinin the mod community!

Potential Future Idea's
1)Dual Wielding with any weapon in left hand ( ya i know, some work wink.gif)
2)Moving dead boddies with telekenisis
3)Lifting ability when grabing/telekenisis depending on your srength/mystisism and the items wieght
4)Flying objects causing damage ( Imagin, with telekenisis, throwing a dead thing into a living thing, causing it to die )

all i got off the top of my head but im sure ive got a lot more and im sure you do too.

MMMmmm...Saji likes this idea very, oh-so much.

But, alas, I'm a n00b, nub, knob etc when it comes to modding, but I've been playing around with the CS, and I made a Silver Claymore weigh nothing and have a reach of 5.5 just for the heack of it laugh.gif it was fuuuunny laugh.gif

But yeah, I'm very, creative, like, I am a poet, who tries to write novels (still working on me first one...) and I like modding stuff...please? laugh.gif

But right now, I'm trying me hand at modeling, which is going everything but well, but I still want my giant sword of doom >,<

I think this is an interesting idea, currently have a small team of myself, a comp sci major friend and a few others involved in doing something similar to this.

I've written the script for our first mod and its insane, we've already begun to implement the first pieces of the mod which requires new dungeons and runes, etc, for the story. This mod is all about the immersion of a very interesting story with some beautiful new items, our next chapter of the saga we'll gun for new land.

Oh, and Sanji, we have a bunch of resources for scripting/modeling if you ever would like some. Your best bet is to get acquainted with CS and use the Oblivion Wiki for questions.

just a real quick question, I would like to consider myself an ok modder, as far as construction and dialog and i recently learned how to re-tex things. However i do have one question. In the programfiles\bethesda\oblivion\data folder, there are several files such as meshes, teaxtures, and voices, however these files are in .BSA file format. How can I access these files?

hmm, one important thing to remember is not to make a mod that is in
Tamriels worldspace or any other..but it should be in its own
so that all of our mods are compatible with each other...
and to make the entrance either a small object that teleports you there
or a new npc that is somewhere that people dont usually go..

Well, my friends and I are going to build a website and try to organize an actual full-bodied mod team. I think an organized and well-structured team could really make some amazing mods in an efficient manner of time.

Esp. since we want to quicken our work that we're currently working on, this mod is going to be nuts, its going to be a multi-parter due to the intimately woven story with that of Oblivion's current kind of snoozer.

Some current highlights of our mod that we're working on (even have a concept artist doing work for envisioning models):

-New Race(s) (Angel/Demon)
-New Armor
-New Weapon
-New Beast Race
-New "Guild"
-New Mount
-New Dungeons/Mines
-**New Char**-
The Morningstar

-Wings (Flight, since Oblivion has a Z axis, and even a rather intricate physic system flight is quite possible)

This mod is tough, the script is done, the chars are being textured/modeled, but its damn hard I cannot deny. So we're hoping to get a good team together for such a feat.

If anyone wants to join in and second this, reply! If we organize we could make a site and really gather a team of strong skills, ideals, and possibly have a good # of people to create a damn good mod.

i like the Demon / Angel part =)

But my whole idea was to start small
I just got Oblivion last night and I quickly changed the time scale from 1:30 to 1:4
and im almost done the "Need Sleep" mod

you see, this has to be done before the big stuff, so that you can impliment it into the new mods

let me explain, in the "Need Sleep" mod you have a Tiredness meter and as you get more and more tired you suffer from stat defects blah blah blah

but also, your actions can make you more tierd, ect
and some things will make you more hungery ( In Need Food Mod ill make next )

so all the mods that follow this will work out well with these mods and so ect

Maniac, MasterSaji, or whomever want to, i will probably need help for the Need Food mod so let me know if you wana give me a hand

Also sonsofjustice, it sounds like you have a cool team together already, but our mods would simply conflict with eachothers with the globals ect.. If you guys are ever going to start something that one would call.. "Small but spectacular" like your flying abuility, ill help you out. Just be sure to Email me.

It sounds like you guys are really getting your stuff together with this mod team. I havent really given texturing/modelling or anything like that a go, but im not bad with TES editor and im really interested in helping any way i can with modding, or even with storyline or plot if you guys are doing something like that.

Im not a bad builder, as in dungeons, forts, caves and mines and such, but the meshing texting and scripting is way out of my league. I also do voice acting, now idk if anyone needs it, but in oblivion i realized they use pretty much the same voice for peeps, so i figured it would be cool to hear some variety, and i think i could do that. So if you need a voice actor, or a dungein builder. Hit me up with a PM.

Anyway I'm afraid I can help you just with some ideas, and I also love to draw, if that helps somehow, I could give graphic ideas also smile.gif

Although I think Oblivion is aready a great game, it .would be nice if it would have ...

- More fighting outside

I got pretty bored about the thing that all the dungeons and oblivion gates looks basically the same, I mean, no individuality, just copy paste, with a few modifications... So I tought what if more fights could be done outside those annoying places, like in the wild, Ok I know, there are bandits, wolves, ogres... but there are too fiew, Wouldn't be nicer going to fight into a deep forest... Maybe haunted by gosts?

- Better Ghosts

Speaking of ghosts, I like everything about ghosts, except the angry ghosts in oblivion, I got pretty disappointed about that... that's why:

- they aren't scary
- they aren't transparent enough
- they shoot project balls at you :shock:
- they are silly looking
- and so on...

I think the ghost soldiers that you happen to free, are way more scarry and ghostlike than the ghosts that attacks you. laugh.gif

- More scarry

I think Oblivion has a desperate need of scariness, and maybe better blood effect, like much of the other games have. It would be cool to have some scarry quests, I don't know about you, but when I played Clive Barker's Undying I was just amazed, of the scary atmosphere...
Also the Call Of Cthulhu had more scary atmosphere. Anyway, I believe you got my point.

- More weapon and armour variety

Some sets of new armour would be cool, the same goes for the weapons, I already beat the game, so far I got, what maybe 2 good armours, and 2 good swords... boh, they are not dropped like in diablo or something, I liked diablo alot, I tought in Oblivion was missed the point in gaining new exciting thing, wich will help you slay enemies better...

- More fantasy/environmental creatures

Oh yeah and about the water creatures, are there just the slaughterfish and the crabs or what? I thing in a fantasy land of such proportions, there should be more fantasy creatures, giant underwater serpents or monsters, or air dragons, from wich you must flee, and wait till they land somewhere to go and stealth kill them or something... Or serpent people that are silently hissing in the night, or maybe werewolves howling at the moon... If there ca nbe vampires, why not werewolves or other inbred human like creatures?

- Armour for horses & Atacking while on horse & Horse whistle

Since the first thing an enemy would attack when he sees you is your poor horse, it would be cool to add some armours to horses too, don't you think?
Also I got pretty bored because I couldn't attack while being on my horse, I think that is a big minus, the same goes for not being able to call or summon a horse when needed... a horse whistle would be able to fix it .... altough it's also a good thing to walk by food and building athletics, so maybe a whistle just for my "nearby" horse... (300m distance or something) smile.gif

- Better rag-doll physics for humans and some creatures/Destructive environment

The physics in this game are outstanding, when it comes to objects, but when it comes to creatures (except for few creatures), persons I get a woody feeling, I don't know I think they are just not enough ragg-doll-ed. The rats are a good example of rag-doll model, I think It's design and construction is just outstanding... Also it would be marvelous if we could actually break something, sometimes. biggrin.gif

- Better looking chicks/Better flirting system

And it would be cool to have some better looking chicks too smile.gif maybe to flirt with them a little more, like in Fable, speaking of wich if Oblivion world would merge with Fable and Undying, I think it would be nearly perfect smile.gif
I mean about some features in fable, something like, Becoming good or bad throughout the time playing, sacrificing people, flirting, and so on, to be honest there are infinite things that could improve oblivion, although it's a great game already smile.gif

Edit : I know some ideas were already been given here or there , some mods were already been done, but these are the things I missed in the game ...

PS: The fly spell/potion idea, it crossed my mind several times while playing, I think would be really cool as someone has suggested above.

hi im a dungion designer/ scripter i did alot of stuff for morrowind and am just puting the finishing touches on my first oblivion mod just tell me how i can help.


i like the idea of destructive envirment i could start on some scripts if you like.

Alright, awsome, we now a functional team! Maybe not fully functional, but non the less, functional!

Of course we can't combine our mods, which blows, but Master Dirox has some, "sorta-system". In other words, he's waiting for BS to come up with a mod-merger wink.gif
