Count Valerius
Urgg, does anybody know where to find them? my favorite guild and i want to sell a buttload of stolen loot.
Bofra
I don't have the game and thus I might not be correct, but for what I've heard/read the fighters guild will "come to you" when you steal something.

...Oh, wait a second... You said "stolen" loot.. Hmm, that messed up my reply.. tongue.gif So you have stolen something but they didn't come? Did you get cought anytime stealing? Maybe you have to get cought?

Heh, sorry for this non-informative reply, thought I was going to be of some help smile.gif.
Duncan Frost
You have to either steal something and get caught, or try and find them through a series of contacts. Hope that helps biggrin.gif

I got the note telling me to meet the guy in the Imperial city after I went to jail and got raped by Big Bubba which caused my skills to drop but that was after I had stolen a lot of crap and murdered someone.

Just get caught while stealing something and then read one of the " the Gray Fox " posters and someone will come to you
Brink
Bribe a beggar into telling you where to find Gray Fox.

They tell you to meet someone somewhere at midnight. (don't want to spoil anything ^^)
strra
Got the note just now. it says:
****SPOILERS****
I can offer you greater rewards and less time in prison. If you are interested, come to the Garden of Dareloth in the Imperial City's Waterfront district at midnight. Present this note and all shall be made clear.

yeah I forgot about that

I guess the thieves guild is a frustrating guild to join if you didn't get prior knowledge of how to join from a preview or interview or something.

I mean, I'm not very far yet but so far it seems they have no guild hall, just a little meeting place.

You steal or take a lot of free stuff from a guild at once. A grey skinned woman might give you a note. It tells you to go to waterfront at midnight. Look around outside the walls for a man with a torch, a wood elf and an argonian. Give the man the note. Then there are 3 ways to get in. You can steal the diary(hard way). Tehn if the other recruits finish first, you can steal the sword(dunno about it). The best way is after he says get the diary, wait 24 hours. The wood elf will come with the diary. Pickpocket her and take it.

You can also repeatadly go to jail until they find you. I think thats the imperial city only. Or thats the only jail.

1st you gotta get arrested. when you get out a lady will give you a letter from the Gray Fox. it took me forever to find him because the letter said garden of something. But its only some bacyard were 2 hobos sleep. just talk to the people back there at midnight.
Wheeze
you gota steal something i dont know if you are supose to get cought but i think so and then a beggar/poor folk will give you a mystirius note and you are supose to go to back garden of the first left garden and be ther ate 12 o-clock and then talk to a guy and try to get some diary befor a woman gets it and give the black guy the diary and there you go

I got the note with my first character, and got into the Thiefs Guild. But now with my second character I didn't have the patience to get the note from the Gray Fox, so I just persuaded this Armand guy at midnight at the gathering place to tell me about Gray Fox and the Thiefsguild, and then I could ask him if I could join the guild smile.gif
Man, is this Thievesguild thing in Oblivion cool or what!! It's like joining the gang of Robin Hood or something tongue.gif

Fastest way, go to jail, thats all, a girl will give you a note from the Gray Fox and thats how you join.
Foster
Nah, fastest way is just to read the wanted poster of the Grey Fox (so you get it in your subjects to talk about), then go to the right place at the right time (if you know it), and persuade, persuade, persuade.

I did it with my second character as soon as I'd done Vilverin - literally just went straight to the location, and the timing meant I arrived there about 11:30. Waited an hour, read the wanted poster and...done.
Olav
I think the quickest way is to get a random beggar to like you and ask him about the Gray Fox.

go to jail, when you come out someone will give you a letter telling you to meet someone somewhere and that is how you get the quest to get in
