Hello,
I want to run Oblivion at 1600 x 1200, or at least 1280 x 1024, with Anti Aliasing on, and I want this to run VERY smoothly, completely with authority and under control.
What type of machine do you need to do this? Or is it even possible?
I have:
AMD Athlon 64 3200 OCed to 2200mhz
Nvida 6800 Ultra
1gig premium memory
sata hard drive
nforce4 plat chipset
This machine runs Oblivion kinda crappy, even with at 1024 x 768 with no AA. It runs fine, but movement certainly is not as smooth as it could be.
Anyone have an idea?

Go down to 800 by 600. 1024 x 768 I always thought was an ideal resolution. the Anti Aliasing should smooth out the edges I think.
But whats your CPU Speed? Cause I hear Oblivion really relys on that alot too.
You could find that, and find out what you'd want to upgrade to here.

Hello,
Yes, I have ran the test, and yes, my machine passes that test for the recommend specs quite easily.
You tell me to go down to 800 x 600... the whole point of my posting is that I want to run the game at 1600 x 1200, or 1280 x 1024 minimum with full AA.
My cpu speed is 2200 mhz as I said in my first post.

Well then it probaby can handle it at that high a res. I'm just not sure how many monitors out there support that resolution. ^^; Well...as in being able to tell the difference between 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 and willing to possibly sacraface a smoother framerate.

Try not OC'ing your processor. It could be getting too hot (not likely because it's an AMD but hey, it's worth a shot). Also, I've heard nVidia cards have been having issues with the game, check nVidia's website to see if they've uploaded the Oblivion Specific drivers. One other thing, I'm pretty sure a 3200 is already at 2.2 Ghz so either: 1. your OC'ing didn't do anything or 2. your processor is actually running at 2.4Ghz.

hmmm... not sure what to tell you except that I am running 1280x1024 with no AA and its smooth as can be with a 6800GT. Most graphics and draw distances at max too.
