is Oblivion going to be the last ES. has bethesda said that its the last one. if you dont know do you think it is. i think this is going to be the last one
Zelda_Zealot
Doubt it, although Besthesta has not directly said there is another in the works (I think, but am not sure.), they have also not said it is the last (Again I am not sure, I don't have the entirety of every interview memerized.).
1234king
well they will probably make an expansion pack for it in a little while
bellicose
According to this interview there will be more

QUOTE
One group will focus on support for Oblivion such as patches, updates, and expansions. Another group will focus on the next Elder Scrolls game. And finally one group will be working on Fallout 3

Frugal
It is definately going to be a long time until the next Elder Scrolls. They are working on Fallout and recently got a license which lets them make Star Trek games.
Tellie
Listen to Bellicose...she is right...there will be a next Elder scrolls game...but as mentioned earlier, it will be a long time untill it comes out.

I know there have also been talks about some expansions for Oblivion...but for themoment they arekeeping the lid on...so nothing is sure about the expansions.
Fargoth
It CAN'T BE THE LAST ONE!!!!!!!!! ohmy.gif
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tellie
Dont worry Fargoth...it wont...so we have many years left with TES games.....And while we wait for the new one...we can enjoy oblivion...I know I will.

Actually now that you mention it I remember a recent interview saying that they were going to try for another one on the 360, so it won't be THAT long of a wait. But not long enough to complete Oblivion 12 times over wink.gif .
teej815
dont worry they will make a new one but probably not for 5 maybe 6 years sad.gif Im sure OB will last that long. I know Morrowind would have lasted me that long, should OB not be coming out smile.gif

I remember reading this as well...

Oblivion looks so good... I would like to see them actually just spend a few years on all new content now for another region of the world and release it under the same engine.
Fl3wk
I would love to see Bethsoft to make an MMORPG, think of the scope and content! It would be an evolution in itself. They would need to hire some MMO Dev veterans though...
Storander
Honestly, I would hate fore the TES series to become just another MMOG. I probably wouldn't buy it, even if it was a good MMORPG, just because I do not like online games.

But, I would absolutely love co-op for the next TES. The TES series badly needs at least LAN multiplayer co-op support. I would love to play this game with my friends.
DoomedOne
This is sort of a platform. When the next Elder Scrolls game comes out it will be even more spectacular, but until then let the mods and expansions hold you over.
Sam
I doubt that this is the last one. They already said in multiple interviews that there will be more. Bethesda will be making these things for years to come.
1234king
it would be kool if you could hook up to xbox live (which i have) and play the game with your frend
Neela
I think as long as Bethesda continues making them the top notch game that they have always been there is no reason for them to ever stop.

Its usually only when they lose their fan base through a poorly made or rushed sequel that a series usually dies.

Example.. I and many others were huge fans of MOO2. After the kind of criticism MOO3 got do you think they honestly would even attempt a MOO4?
1234king
what is MOO
Neela
Sorry... Master of Orion.. space conquest strategy game..
1234king
why was MOO3 so crappy
Burnt Sierra
Looks at thread title.

Looks at the most recent posts.

Looks at the lock button.

Mutters something about remaining on topic, hint hint tongue.gif

Short answer:
No.

Long answer:
Hell no.
deemu
no its not the last TES thank biggrin.gif talos
ThePerson98
Bethesda should actually try an MMORPG, not TES, but try some other game. An MMORPG means easy money per month. So in the end it would help them gain more money. Which means faster production of games.
But they do believe in making the best single player game possible, instead of making moderate online games.
The Metal Mallet
Right now, the "fantasy time" genre that TES is based in is basically being beaten over the head with by many MMORPGs, it's oversaturated. I'm sure they could get a decent to good following with it, but personally, I don't feel like we need a TES MMORPG right now.
Parkillous
One thing about Oblivion that pissed me off was that it is better than every other rpg/mmorpg... so i only have oblivion until next tes sad.gif...

Anyways I hope they do make a new tes game eventually, that focuses more on game mechanics and maybe co-op... but seriously the next game would be a lot better with critical areas and kill moves that you need some skill to use, sorta like getting a hs in css however much that may be debated in terms of skill :/...

give the graphics some slight improvement obviously, and generally tweak it for better performance... but oblivion's benchmark graphics would be fine by me for the next game...

so much more time could be spent on making swordplay more realistic and less stat vs stat (which is why mmo are gay.... "i will attack you with my 48 degree angled side slash..... nnnow")... improve the ai even more... make an even deeper story and substories... that affect the character a lot more... for the love of god get rid of the generic levelling... i mean every race, birthsign and class combo inevitably can be all the same...

eg:
Oblivion:
Redguard:
Max strength - 100
Max intelligence - 100
Max willpower - 100
etc

Breton:
Max strength - 100
Max intelligence - 100
Max willpower - 100
etc

TES5:
Redguard:
Max strength - 120
Max intelligence - 115
Max willpower - 90
etc

Breton:
Max strength - 95
Max intelligence - 120
Max willpower - 125
etc

You know?

Really make the it so the choices you make at the start affect what you can end up... someone that chooses to be a mage character should NEVER ever become as good at stealth skills/attributs as a stealth character and visa versa...

I think you all know what im generally saying so ill stop now...
Channler
Well I don't agree... Cause in real life you can naturally out perform anyone given enough training. So in game, why wouldn't a breton be able to be as strong, or stronger then a redguard?

But yes, there will be another game. Of course. But my only qualm really is.. The fact that most guy characters, and nearly every female characters in the game are horrendously ugly. And its hellishly hard to make a good looking character.

That and the crappy dialogue (which was a dissapointment) and the lack of voice actors (the same women did the orc, and nord... And they both didn't fit either race. Jeeze, the orcs sound like my mother..).
1234king
I guess no one is still that sure on what the new ES is gonna be like if there is one, but I can telly you that Oblivion is the start of action/adventure games to come into the ES family.
The Metal Mallet
Actually, Redguard was probably the first action/adventure game. But I guess you can say it isn't necessarily an Elder Scrolls game, it simply based in the world of the Elder Scrolls.

I'll let it slide though, no problem 1234king tongue.gif (Psst, I haven't even played anything older than Morrowind anyways...)

For right now, if they continue on the path of continuing the forward motion of the timeline, I can't really see what would be the new threat to the world. Like with Oblivion, you were facing the Lord of Destruction himself! What else could top that? The only thing I can come up with is MULTIPLE Daedra Lords. But that would be a terrible, terrible idea.

*makes sure Bethesda isn't listening to his terrible idea, just to make sure they don't think it's actually a good one, because it DEFINITELY ISN'T!!!*

So yea, I don't know where they're going to go from here. Maybe they might go back before Arena instead... that'd be interesting.

Fargoth
NO, Oblivion is NOT the last. I've send an email to Bethesda Softworks, about it.
That's what they said: "Yes, we'll certainly continue to make Elder Scrolls games".
And a few months later I asked when they'll going to create em'.
They said:

"To answer your questions honestly, we are still in the early, early
stages of planning. When we're ready to discuss specifics, you can
Read All the latest news on our official website, www.theelderscrolls.com

Thanks for your interest in The Elder Scrolls."

So, I think they didn't lie. How could they stop creating them? TES rulez! It cannot be destroyed!
I love TES! I can do anything for TES! I die for TES! tongue.gif
And I think, few years later this forum name will be www.waiting4tes5.com
I think in the newspapers will be writened The "TES is back! The best RPG ever!"
And I think we will say: "Yay I have TES5!! Finnaly have it!" And your signature will be again "10 days left"
It will be great! Trust me! The Elder Scrolls will come back!
Thank you
jack cloudy
Wow, triple post. I think there must have gone something wrong with your browser. I hope you don't mind if I report this, do you? smile.gif

And yes, I also think that there will be another TES, I just don't know how it will be or when it will be.
Fargoth
Yeah, thank you. I didn't want to do that. Something was wrong with my connection. Now it's over. Thank's again. I really didn't want to get a mess right here:)
