Full Version: Oblivion vs. Morrowind Music Preference

To here previews of the Oblivion music and clips from Morrowind, click here.

My opinion: I really liked the Morrowind music, but I think that this stuff is much better. The music in Morrowind was a little bit repetitive and contained to much brass in many places. The Oblivion stuff has a wider variety of instuments in more places, which makes for better harmony and themes. This game just keeps getting better and better! goodjob.gif

I voted for "Yeah, I suppose the new music is better" since I do think the Oblivion sountrack is better than morrowinds, but I would also like to vote for "The new Oblivion music is great!" since I also think it's great biggrin.gif. Kind of hard to choose between the two..

I (from a personal standpoint) like the Morrowind music better smile.gif

Both just as good...but had to chose that Oblivion was great.

I like the Oblivion Music, I don't if it is know because it's new or because it's a little more active.

Yeah the music in Oblivion is outstanding. i could listen to this compassion all day.

Oh my god... I forgot my sound card was broken.

I haven't slept in two days, and I swear I heard the music playing, but after further inspection it revealed to not be.

Based on the parts of the Oblivion soundtrack I've heard, I think I'll like it better.

I will, of course, copy the better Morrowind music files into the Oblivion folder after making sure that won't be resulting in two very similar tracks. tongue.gif

Some of the tracks are really similar. I might copy some of the morrowind music over too for some variety.

Through the Valley" song number 2 made me really nostalgic to morrowind though, because a morrowind wandering song sounds a lot like that. The difference is the oblivion song seems like it's sharp, better composed, and just more appealing. The composition also feels like I could paint a picture in my head of a guy exploring through the forest collecting herbs and shooting deer.

Oblivion's all the way!! My favorite especially was Wings of Kynareth, that was beautiful.

I like the Oblivion music very much, but still think the Morrowind soundtrack was better.

Is there a way to copy the sound files from Morrowind into an Oblivion folder so that all the tracks are used at random?

If it's difficult; I really miss the original Morrowind theme song, so if anyone has tips on how to replace an Oblivion song with that, I'd be most grateful for any tips on how to do it.

Also tips on getting the Oblivion theme song into the game (and not just the menu) would be greatly appreciated.

Think both of them are pretty good... smile.gif

Oblivion main theme FTW! Although I would like it to be more... dramatic. It builds up this climax, plays uplifting and inspiring music for about 3 seconds then goes to what sounds like a spider trying to fart out its ears.

yeah, the climax of the main theme song is WAAAAAY too short, but thats one of the reasons why I prefer the Morrowind sound-track over Oblivions smile.gif
