At the elderscrolls.com at the top of the page where it is talking about the official release of oblivion, it says that it has gone to "gold master". Does anyone here know what that means?

Gold means its done and they're putting it on the DVDs.

I don't know what the master part means though.

master means, I belive...i could be wrong, that they have made the Master "gold" disc ready for producing the rest of the discs that you will use.

So they use the one "master-gold" disc and make millions of copies by using it...

so it's done!

The Master Copy sounds almost cultist, though.

Too bad this doesn't mean a thing regarding the date of realease, we will still have to wait 11 more days ...

OOHH! they're making porofits off of copies!! thats illegal! but yeah thats just the main disk I suppose, the first one that has everything in working order.

I have half a mind to drop by bethesda studios while they're copying and just nab one when they're not looking.

Yes...it should mean we will have it soon...unless something terrible goes wrong...which i've never heard a game being delayed when the game has already been stated as, "gone gold"
