Full Version: New races

I have used several of the races mods in morrowind, and hope that perhaps some of these will find there way into oblivion, or even some new ones.

Well, it is my intention to try and implement the playable Dremora; as we did for Morrowind.

Not promising anything (mainly because the new FaceGen might complicate things), but I'll do my best... That is, after I've played the game biggrin.gif

Greetz,

aren't there different kinds of dremora that I have seen in vids this time? if so are you going to try to do more than one? just curious...and looking forward to killing dremora as a dremora!

lol, I am kinda twisted. Good luck with the new CS, I too am making things once I can.

I'll add guards for my houses ingame. Partly because the new armours look cool and partly because it makes me feel like a noble. Just imagine knights on horseback guarding your own house. And btw, good luck with your dremora project Milt! I always like to join the bad guys.

I don't know how this would all play out or how the mechanics would work but I think half races would be cool. Like a half khajjit, half human so you just had some cat markings and ears plus tail.

Oh yeah, new races. The hardest thing would be to balance them. Bethesda had a long time to balance their races, yet it still felt a bit unbalanced from time to time. (I tend to just bash down anyone who isn't an Orc, Nord or Redguard in just a few seconds, worse with Adrenaline rush.)
That shows how hard balancing is.

About half races, I've been messing with this sci-fi/fantasy setting of mine for a few years and there is a race running around there who look like a mix between woodelves (size and pointy ears, but they've got very pale skin) and Argonians (horns and those fish-like fins on the top of their head)

I would try to mod them in if I could (which I can't), but really they are unbalanced. If they were in Tamriel, they would outslash a Redguard with a sword and outcast a High Elf with magic.

What I'm trying to say? I hope that everyone who makes a race mod will spend a few minutes thinking about balancing, unless the race is meant to be uber.

Oh, good luck too anyone who wants to give race mods a try.

Now there's something worth waiting for.

Sounds an awful lot like an Ohmes/Ohmes-Raht.

Myself, I've never been a big fan of the race mods. Most of the fanmade races seem utterly out place from my point of view. Now, mods that add races like the Ayleids, the other Khajiit subtypes, Tsaesci and mayhap the other existing TES races I would at least consider testing.

I agree with rane. Modded races have yet to impress me in the Morrowind series and I doubt I will be dealing with them in Oblivion. The only thing I added to my game was the better heads/better bodies mods.

I agree, I've always wanted a nekojin mod (becuase catgirls are hot...) No, thats not the only reason... Either way it would be awsome to have human-like creatures with ears and tail, and ofcourse well ballanced stats to moddle it. Ive been wating for a good neko mod ever since I got into morrowind, but i wasent realy willing to go for the French mod.

I have tryed several times but havent found any moders that were willing to work on something like this, most people that are intrested enough in modding arnt willing to add other races that dont apper in any of the storys throughout the games, and I've always wondered why. I understand wanting to keep a game pure, but whats wrong with new races showing up from distant lands, or current races evolving over time, or even as sugested, interbreeding? I am all for ballanced stats though, a game is no fun when you can distroy everything that moves with one click of the mouse.

Anyway, would anyone be willing to try for a nekojin mod? I would be happy to shair what I know about the race (I know quite a lot) and provide some pictures if neccary. I would do this myself if I had the time or materials, but sadly, I am just a broke collage student -_-.

you can make a kajiit look pretty human with the new shading features, I made an orc that looks alot like the bad guy that is red and black in the starwars movie a few years back....the "first" movie, and I think he might have still been alive in the seconde one....not a fan obviously.
Taistrv
Kajiit just wont do it for me. needs to be a neko happy.gif.

Personally, im going uber anales erhaltendes in my quest for a decent Wolf Race.

Right now, since i'm a modeling Hack, i'm just doing anatomy and coloration concept art for what i hope will become the first really adequate Wolfen Mod to grace the Elder Scrolls game series.

I didn't like the Morrowind one, and im probably not going to like the inevitable Oblivion one.

So instead of living with it, i'll design one that Trumps all others!

I'm just going to need someone who knows their way around CS.......
Since i'm a modeling noob and i havent even fathomed the concept of coding or animating.
