Ive been reading around on the forums, ovfficial and these, and iwas wondering, if the player drops items, are they still goign to be left there thorughout the whole game? or will an npc just walk up and grab one? also if i were to cast a fireball spell and send al lthe stuff in a house flying, will all the items remain strewn abotu or will they be replaced as soon as i leavE? i was just htinking if it would be possible to leave piles of loot in places to return to later in the game. thanks. ps first post in the w4o threads smile.gif

Welcome to w4o. Sorry for the delay in replying.

In MW leaving an item lying around was perfectly safe, but now in Oblivion, combined with RAI, i wouldn't recommend leaving any items lying around in the street. Many NPCs will probably 'tidy' them up or just thieve them.

As for items flying all over the place, i should hope that this will come into affect, and that as far as it being resorted afterwards, i guess thats down to the NPC who lives there. I'm sure its a possibility. The world seems fairly persistent as far as NPC activities go.

Don't quote me on this though smile.gif

And again, welcome to the boards.

Overflow Loot Bags were annoying... I'd rather have longer cell loading times and a beefy save file than a Loot Bag.
I'm about 90% sure that NPCs tidy things that are on their propery, ie. throwing everything off their shelves will be fixed when you leave and re-enter, but your own items in the street? Who knows... I'm not gonna risk it, personally.

ok, I know I heard this from a reliable source, but I am not one to go find the original so much as memorize, interalize, and repeat, besides I already spend about 4 hours a day on here, depending.

here it is....as soon as you leave a cell, for purposes of memory size it auto resets the positions of the items that were put there by the game, though I understand that isn't the case with items you manually add to the cell, so if you drop lots of stuff in your own house then cast fireball and know them all over, you have to pick it up yourself, but anything that is added by other means...like funiture and such that you buy from your local stores in the game....should reset position....if it's movable to that end in the first place.
As for items dropped in public, if a NPC has use for an item and yours is the closest, they will take it. I think some items are made invisible to the RAI though so that things like the dagger of corruption (or similar name of weap that makes copies of original that kill original) doesn't get into their hands and mess up things.... if you drop items in a secure place, like your house you will be fine leaving it there, as to loot bags, I am not certain if they removed them, but I think so. p.s. I hated them too as I had to quit using a house for decorations after one showed up.

imagine leaving an item like the mantle of woe in the middle of the street and some guy picks it up. for you who dont know the mantle of woe is a robe that gives you 5.0x magicka and 50 to your conjuration skill. but normal weapons affect you more and the sunlight kills you. but imagine he pikcs it up in the middle of the night and leads an army of the night to overpower tamriel. that would be hilarious

From what i've read, if you drop items in the street depending on the NPC- maybe hes a thief or just a citezen they will probally do what they feel like, dropping things in your house is ok and if you mess your house up you have to clen it NPCs though will clean their house up though
