Oh! Gothic 2! I've mentioned it in some other posts and I highly recommend it. It has indeed a high difficulty curve for combat as Wolfie sais but if you give it some time you get the hang of it and makes it one of the best RPG:s I've ever played.
I haven't played the Night of the Raven addon (the one that comes with the Gold edition) so I can't tell much about it but I definately suggest you give Gothic II a try. You'll notice that much of the "cool stuff" with oblivion is there in G2, the forests are much more vivid and realistic than MW, the NPC:s most (almost all) have their work schedules and their personal history to tell, the combat, as mentioned, is much more realistic and you can actually 'feel' the bashing with swords. It has come to my mind that Bethesda must have played G2 and gotten a bunch of ideas from it when developing OB, although that's just a wild speculation

.
Oh yeah, one more thing. If you get the game I recommend you using swords (or other melee-weapons) as the melee-combat system is not to be missed. Spells are cool and all but it's nothing compared to the realistic fencing in G2 (this coming from a long-time mage).
