I don't think you should trust that date as a release date, because the official one is still only "Early 2006"

Tough question... I have been playing Civ 4 some and of course doing some Poser pics when the creative mood strikes. Today I have been struck by a desire to play Battlespire through before Oblivion, but I couldn't get it to run in DOSBox. What I could find on the web says it won't work because of the video driver it uses. Anyone get Battlespire to run in Windows XP?
I too am really starting to crave Oblivion again though and find myself on the forum boards more often just hoping for those words... GONE GOLD. I think I am going to ask for some vacation days around its release date when it comes.

Heh ironically I've found playing older games helps pass time. For example, Starcraft for the PC is an excellent game to play online or by yourself. Same with Diablo II Lord Of Destruction. Both of those games are pretty old and not very graphically mastered, but I've been addicted to them for quite some time. In fact, I've been playing Diablo II since it came out, which I think is like seven years now. Starcraft I just recently got until I could get my hands on a 360.

I'm currently playing Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space, it's not verry long but good for 15 minutes of fun. Nice when your short on time.

I have a few things to do until then, mostly work, but in my free time, if I get to gaming, I'll play:
Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast - yay for lightsaber action!
Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy - even more lightsaber action!
Morrowind - well...yeah

TESA: Redguard - still haven't finished it
Also, I may install DS9: The Fallen again. It is a very immersive, if dated Star Trek FPS. You can play as Worf, Kira or Sisko. It's nice.

Work and playing Civ. IV takes up most of my time at the moment, taking a few Grad Courses as well. If the game does come out in later March, then I will miss the release and all the Chaos at TESF. I am going to Vegas for a week to attend a big bachelor party, should be chaotic enough by itself.

Last week, I played Morrowind. This week, Dungeon Siege II. After that, maybe Jedi Academy or Jedi Outcast (my favorite LucasArts game). I've been spending a bit more time reading; I'm currently working on Elvenblood.
Hmm, right now I've been renting (and beating way too fast) various video games, playing AOEIII, wishing the PLAY! concert came to Ontario and since BFME2 is coming out before Oblivion, I'll be playing that.

HAH I just traded an unopened AOE III game for a preorder of the limited edition of Oblivion for 360. I got it for my birthday and my sister was unsure what I wanted, so she thought I might. I actually hate gunpowdery games, I only like the first two AOE games because it was almost all medieval and fun.

Guess my birthday present will have to be 2 days late, well probably more because I live all the way out in NZ.
I have been playing morrowind and commandos 2; I had decided that my holidays would be spent as a hermit so appart from the rare event I get quite literally forced into I spend all my day painting, playing games and talking to people on the internet. Been like that since New Years and will stay that way for a good 2-3 more weeks.
And why you ask if I have so much spare time, don't I do the work I said I would on the W4O bestiary? Because I procrastinate (that and my drawing gear is currently unavailable)

What will I do until March 21? Well, I imagine I'll sell copious amounts of faulty wicker baskets over the internet. Beyond that, Katamari Damacy and Rome: Total War will be fun diversions. I might exhume my copy of Morrowind as well, but I've played that one quite enough.
By the way, might I interest anyone in a quality wicker basket?
I'll take seventeen.
I've been playing Morrowind on my new computer and must say, it really is awesome 15th time around. Now that I'm not using my mod-hating computer, I've been enjoying all the new mods. Mmm, new robes.

I've been playing Arena in my free time (not very often) to ease any desire for Oblivion. It works pretty well because you can visit both Cyrodiil and Morrowind, and it's always interesting to go back and see the original (like seeing the volcano in the background in Morrowind). Not to mention its like getting a new Elder Scrolls game by just playing it.
If you decide to play, left click + sideways movement of the mouse makes you swing a weapon. Also, be sure to follow the installation instructions, and Ctrl+F12 makes the game run much, much faster.

Time to wake from the dead here, been reading this forums as a ghost for far too long...
Here's something free and fun, the new Star Wars RTS, "
Empire at War". There is a demo on several download sites that lets you play a few tutorials and a very short campaign. However the real fun comes when you actually find out that people have been modding the demo unlocking a lot more features. There's still a lot unbalanced and much is not as it will be in the final release, obviously since the source is only from a demo, but it's still something to spend a few hours on.
The're quite a few mods (you can find most of them
here) but most of them does the same thing, unlocks pretty much everything that was locked in the demo. I found the "Warlord" mod the most stable and fun since some are very unbalanced and some doesn't even have AI unlocked so the enemy ships just stays there.

I'm actually thinking of buying the game in a week or so when it's released, love space fights and the possibility to conquest the galaxy

and to ease the wait for you know what..
Besides that I'll be playing Civ IV and Morriwind of course.

Anything that isnt dial up is better. In some cases even nothing.
Better to not play a game than to go through the frustration of lagging all the time

I remember the first day I had high speed. I switched out of AOL. AOL is horrid...
400 KB update on Windows update. 2 second download on high speed.
AOL took about an hour. Im using T1 equivalent internet. Cox high speed. Ive pushed it to 10 MBPS before. Incredibly fast.

Aren't we getting a little off topic?
Anyway, I just remembered another excelent game for you who doesn't need to work/study 24/7

. Gothic 2! One of my favourite RPG:s, actually it's a second on my list, with morrowind being no. 1. Gothic 2 has everything MW doesn't, it, does not look as good, but the forests, for example, are much more realistics. Aside from that the quests are a lot more difficult than most of the MW quests (were you could pretty much follow the journal and everything would turn up fine), here you actually need to think, almost every time. Then there is the combat-system, well..., you have to try it to understand it.
Anyway, the best of all is that a "Gothic 2 Gold" version has finally been released in English, wich includes the expansion "Night of the Raven". Previously the expansion was only avaible in German, wich kind of sucked.
Hmm.. I wonder if this sounds too much like a commercial?

lol, yw. some very true words, but I know that the moderators have prolly had to cull back the members because of people who didn't know how to behave. So that means that you have a hand in which members are here and thus the community is partly a product of your efforts as well. If there were a bunch of jerks on here and stuff, or idiots that just went on rants over nothing...I wouldn't read as much or as often.

Hey, I can sympathize -- I am writing my thesis, so let's hope the game doesn't come out before I get the majority of it written, or I will have to make the oh-so-difficult choice between academic success and retreating into my own little fantasy sandbox. =)
On another note, I picked up the new PC Gamer (which, btw, has a great feature on Mev. Total War II, for those interested) and the magazine's 'release date' section listed Oblivion as a possible February release. This is the latest issue, so I wonder where they are getting that information from, but this seems unlikely.
What to play until Oblivion? I would suggest Battle for Middle Earth II, which I have been beta testing for a while now. It hits the stores at the end of the month and even if you are not a big RTS person it still has the Tolkien fantasy element to it, which is really well done. And there are elves this time around.
There is even a pseud-roleplaying component: you can create your own custom in-game hero, and customize everything from appearance to weapons to powers according to the manner in which the character advances during the course of the battle. Haven't you ever dreamed of leading one of the seven wizards into battle? =) Play the demo on fileplanet.

Bah...
I'm suspecting the release will be late March / early April as they are the final days of what can be considered "Early" this year... ie. Q1.
All UK shopping sites are saying 24th March. Whether they have inside information, or just a stab in the dark by Amazon, copied by others.
Anyways... I have Garry's Mod for PC and I have Quake 4, Condemned, Call of Duty 2, Perfect Dark Zero and King Kong to play for my 360... I've completeted them all except Quake 4, already, though.

God help me...

Only a few months ago? Where have you been? Lol. And I don't even think I've fully completed Morrowind. Since 2001, and I've never even completed Mages, Telvanni or Temple quests... I was always a member, but even my strongest Warrior found them tricky or just too time-consuming.
Well, I gave my friend my copy of Morrowind to try and convince him to buy Oblivion... And hey! It worked... He's pre-ordered and told all his friends

lol... So, if there's short supply, we're out of luck... I've only just changed my Pre-order settings I've had since September 05, so I'm back on the bottom of the list, but I'm promised it 11am on the release date!

Hopefully a day off...
