I am not the greatest fan of Harry Potter you could find, but I do like the concept. And this is what I like about it:
It is a very, very big castle
You could play in the castle and outside
There are people he constantly run into
there are secrets, monsters, there is magic and a whole other world to explore just than the castle itself (such as the forbidden forest, which may be in my mod a bit less forbidden, and magic villages and such)
So what I am saying really is something like this: I dont want to make a Harry Potter fangame, but just a really big castle and all the things i mentioned above. Therefore, the will differ, and the looks of the castle and so on.
I just wanted your opinion. What do you think of this?

Well, I'd certainly agree that a magical academy based in an old, large castle is certainly a potentially rich setting for adventures. You don't even have to take any more than that from the Harry Potter stories to have an interesting setting.
Personally, I'd prefer that the location not be overly large. A decent number of NPCs all crammed into a moderately sized castle, so you don't have too many large empty areas, would be my preference. I'd rather that the NPCs were well developed, with several roles each in a multi-phase (ideally non-linear) story, than a large sprawling castle with thinly spread NPCs who only do or say one thing each.

my idea was to make most of the NPC's come to the middle-chamber 2 times a day or so, to and to talk. Also, i thought of little secret shops and so on which only are on a specific place on a specific time.
That sort of things would be fun i guessed.
But, is it possible to make NPCs go to a specific place twice a day or so?

I believe so, yes. You can apparently set multiple behaviours on NPCs, so even if you can only specify one time-and-place to go to on the standard "be somewhere at a certain time" behaviour, you should be able to put a bunch of them on the NPC to make them go to the hall for lessons, to their beds at night, etc.

i believe there are not that many students at hogwarts: about 280 i believe. then theres about 14 teachers and some other staff members. oh, and a bunch of ghosts too. technically not that much but still quite a lot of NPCs to make.

yeah i know
but i was not thinking of naming the castle hogwarts and using harry potter and the weaslies or hermoiny and all that compassion. I will just use the idea. But that ghost idea was cool, especially if I can make them like normal NPC's, not hostile, and that you can talk to them.

PS: why the <...> is <snip> automatically changed into "compassion" ?!
