Yeah, that sounds like it describes me fairly well. Of course, I haven't had enough chances to learn most of that stuff, so my score will go up/down (depends on how you look at it) in the future. Oh, and I was forced to guess at some of them.

I'm the kid sitting in the back of the classroom, bored out of his mind because I already know this stuff or don't care to learn it. I only vonlunteer information when it is tortured out of me by pulling my toenails out and cutting my tongue. My teachers learned this the hard way and keep a pair of pliers and an exacto knife in their desk. I can usually explain the subject material to the people who don't get it better than the teachers can. This happened just the other day in science, on the topic of black holes.

Teacher: Black holes are blah blah blah.......
Student#1: Huh?
Teacher: What don't you get?
Student#1: Um... I get it. *Quietly* No I don't...
Me: *Whispering* You know how as you go deeper in the water, the water pressure increases? That's why scuba divers don't go real deep. And how, if you go to the bottom of an ocean, the water presure is so strong that it will crush you?
Student#1: Yeh, I guess.
Me: It's like that, only a lot stronger.
Student#1: Teacher, I get it now! ______ just told me a cool story about black holes!
Teacher: Huh? Oh, I thought you said you got that. Well, _______ tell us your explanation.
Me: *sighs, makes a mental note never to help anyone ever again, reexplains story*



Because I don't volunteer information, people see me as just barely cool enough to hang out with if they are bored, and perfect for copying homework off of, because nobody will get too suspicious if they are seen near me, and I'm smart enough to help, will almost always help, (see how nice I am?) and can explain easily. Some people who came to me for "help" on the homework (wanted to copy my answers) come away with a better understanding than they would have had if they didn't get my help. Smartness (intelligence) and nerdiness are not the same, not always. Nerdiness is more like knowing esoteric knowledge that is often technical in nature, beyond the comprehension of most people, and/or not useful/interesting for most people. Intelligence is how much you know/can know. Nerdiness is what you know. It's an unfair distinction.

It may just be because this test measures the two as far extremes, nerdy and cool. This is not always the case. Just because someone isn't a nerd doesn't mean that they are cool, either.


And their questions would only pinpoint you as a nerd if you knew a lot about computers and were older, like if you had been through college.

I'm only really nerdy when it comes to history, then I turn into teh uberness geek. Everything else (Other then a few things in chemistry) I just blow at..

I'm more two-faced. I am incredibly nerdy in one sense but it takes a lot to provoke me into revealing my nerdy side. I know a lot about movies, books, television, history, technology, history of media, history of technology, etcetera. Not as nerdy as I thought considering I'm the smart one that always pays attention and gets told off by school peers for using language that confuses them. I had to guess the school stuff; we're not all American, dang website!

Many people don't know I'm a developer, those that do know aren't really phased by it anyway. They all know I'm a good writer, always used to argue with my English teacher who didn't know a thing about quality story writing!

Alright.. I guessed "not so nerdy".. guess I'm at a denial phase..

I use confusing language when I'm insulting someone's intelligence. Other than that, my speech is usually fairly normal, if very stiff and formal. People told me in a recent conversation that I was too formal and polite to curse. They should see me when I'm pissed off or I stub my thumb, because then I curse for minutes straight.

I used to use confusing and complex speech a lot, but I realized that nobody (or very few people) could understand me, so I toned it down. Now I only use complex language when I'm insulting some jerk's intelligence, so I don't get the crap beaten out of me, or when I'm debating a complex issue with a very intelligent person. My level of speech tends to change depending on how good at understanding complex speech the person I'm speaking with is, and as I change subjects. My speech in debates with friends who can understand me is fairly eloquent, but when I'm explaining how to figure out a problem to my group in math class I simplify things so it can be understood, since the reason they don't understand is that the math book explains things in a complex way. Translating (ideas and concepts, not languages) is my specialty.

Luckily nowadays my aquaintance is older and more intelligent than it was some years ago and so I can use complex language as I wish without being beaten the crap out of.

No, I use complex language so that the idiot I'm insulting doesn't understand, so he doesn't beat me up. Or I lower my level of language so the person can understand.

I had a verbal joust with an idiot today. He kept on insulting me, and I always had a one line response that was better.

Him: I fell from heaven. That's why all the girls like me.
Girl: (sitting next to us) Uh huh. Sure.
Me: He forgot to mention that he landed on hi shead when he fell from heaven.
Him: So did you!
Me: Yeah, but I landed on a trampoline. You landed on a rock.

Him: I spend half an hour on my hair every morning.
Me: I spend no time at all on my hair in the morning. (I have long hair, for a guy, just short of shoulder length)
Him: We can tell.

So, as much as I occasionally do use big words, when I'm talking to people who don't understand them, and I want them to understand the insult, I use a quick wit rather than large words.

I don't get beaten up for using big words. We have cops in my school. Cops with guns. And I'm big, for my age, stronger than most of the other people, (not as strong as the "jocks" but stronger than a lot of other people) and most importantly, I'm very, very, fast at running away. I won't fight unless I think there's a good chance I'll win, and the fight is necesary, or if I'm forced to. (self defense)

Bah, I am nerdy and I am hip. I'm not nerdy about computers and games but I am very nerdy about politics, parts of art and snowboarding which are all hip in our current youth culture (the 17+ part of it atleast).
