What would you think of starting a more sci-fi, futuristic RP?

I have some ideas, but I don't want to start something with 2 people, and I don't want to take away from WoH either.

So my question is, would you guys play in a sci-fi RP and in WoH, or do you think it's too much?

I'd do it... I used to RP over at PlanetSide Universe and it was all Future Tech. I also do at the NationState forums.

anyways, at least my idea isn't total craziness. We'll see how others react before going further.

What type of tech level are you thinking? Modern Tech, Future Tech, Space Tech?

Modern tech = duh, nowadays

Future tech = stuff like Deus Ex

Space Tech = Star wars

Future tech can be space based, but generally its not to far in the future. Like sometimes peeps are still totting around AK's

However I still like the idea.

When I say semispace, semi-future, it carries elements from both.

not a bad id3ea but I don't really favor two at the same time. remember what usually happened when we had 2 rpgs? I lost count at how many rpgs "died" and stopped. Don't get me wrong nice idea but my suggestion is to wait.

Uprising was getting a post a week when AMU came around, alchemists whetever never really got anywhere, so it was pretty much dead when AMu came too.

We ended AMU when WoH came, so I don't get your point.

I would see a new RP as something to do while waiting for the other to continue. like when I just posted in one and am waiting for a reply, I occupy myself with another reply in the other.

I don't see a prob, however alot of background story info will be needed (Alas not being able to pull from TES) and not everyone will be interested in something NON-TES related

Yea, no prob. I'm positive you can come up with a great story. Are you going to make it more of a alternative universe setting or a real life type?

It's a mix, our solar system and another (maybe two more) with some alines of course. No inter-galactic stuff, which is why I didn't say it's straight up space.

Let me write some notes, and I'll PM you some stuff either late tonight or tomorrow in that hour I get inbetween school and work.

I love sci-fi types. In my long writing life-time I've got something line 8 fully-created futuristic universes with tons of shot stories for them. I love writing about that different types of technology and how it works and stuff.

Thats cool. I don't think I'll take a militarilistic (omg..) approach to this one though.. maybe more so as a merchant

More like, "I'm sorry Dantrag if I try to act like I'm some sort of expert for your RPG and criticize everything you do."

No, just kidding. Best thing to do is just leave it open, don't try to chart everything out, but you know that.

I think it would be fun. Something almost like D&D Modern you know, would be based in a time that looks pretty much like our own, you can either have a sword or maybe a laser gun or what ever. Monsters etc live around in the sewers etc

As the RP goes now I'm pretty sure I would have alot of time to play in this too... if we should start it

And hmm.. Maybe I'll do some minor brainstorming on my character as well!

but like you said before (or someone did) you have to create a lot of backstory otherwise this RP will fall apart. we dont have TES to base it on so...yeah.

simply that i cannot further subdivide my life to include a second RP, and still be really involved in each activity. ^ ^, New Vivec did no become what it is just by visiting the site once a day, I planned it on my outside time, while I lay in bed awaiting sleep, or on my 10-15 minute walk from my dorm to class.

so if i add another RP my mind will ahve to many distractions to focus on.

Dantrag all I ask is that you don't constrict the universe, leave it open to development. I may bring in a few aspects from universes I've built in the past like my PVW(Type of space-ship) and Robotic Sovereignty Movement and over-powerful corporations mining in restricted areas.

but if the unizerse gets too big then it would get confusing for most of us. Vvanderfell is what, 10 square miles? and it's big enough to rp in.

Shogun, Iw asn't talking in size, but in system, in allegiances, that sort of stuff. I'd rather have more room to be creative on my side instead of having it too mapped out that I feel like I'm forced into a slot, espiecially when it comes to Space RPGs where I have tons of experience. It won't be too confusing if it's too big, but between the planets that are the playing field there are moons, suns, asteroids belts, space heaps, tons of things the players can create ourselves. Part of the creative process of an RPG is that we're nopt jsut acting out someone else's creation, that's a play. In an RPG there's input frome veryone into the world we make.

The way its set up is interesting, it gives enough info about the current happenings and you can sorta make up the history of it..

But not limited to just...locations. Maybe technology as well can be kinda vague. Just 'Sci-fi'. That way you can mess around and have some creative stuff.

Like, one guy might be over there with like, a light-saber-katana thingy, while the other guy has cybernetic modifications drastically increasing strength and reaction time, while at the same time, making them weigh a ton (and thus, be rather painted when they fall in water or something..).

And I doubt that would be 'haloness', Plasma isn't a halo exclusive item. Aliens tend to have lots of plasma/energy/etc. weapons.
