Alright let us try this again.
We can DISCUSS Advent Children here, as well as any final fantasy discussion ^ ^.
the only rule is that you not speak of or mention anything in regards of obtaining the film(includig progress)
So as I was saying The graphics were absolutely outstanding. The whole time me jaw was on the floor in amazement.
please don't add spoilers until we are sure any who wish to read the thread have seen the movie.
For those of you awaiting the American release, NOTE THAT SPOILERS may and probably WILL occur.

Well it isn't released in the states yet, so its kind of impossible to watch to legally.
Without, you know, learning japanese or something.... and going to japan ...

There are quite a few sites that offer the japanese version and ship worldwide, such as
yesasia.com. Of course, it's region code 2, as well as japanese, with no english subtitles on the dvd.
Many folks over here actually ordered their japanese copies a while ago.
Not tough to get a legal glimpse of it if you can get around that linguistic obstacle

'course, the best is to wait until you have a chance to watch it "properly", however that may be for you. It's a fantastic movie.
Me: Written impression pending...

i love the fluid motion in the fight scenes, however at one point it moved just a tad too fast and i didn't see what was going on.
I started cracking up when i heard whats-his-face's ring tone in the church, hilarious.

Glad to know I was not the only one that found the Yazoo's victory tune ring tone at the church.
The aireship scene was also very humorous.

I watched it in japanese without subs about a week and half ago, the wednesday before the weekend it released in Japan, at a friends house who definitely bought it legally as far as I know. Anyway, my comment is the same as the one in the last thread. I had no idea what they were talking about and had to get comment from my two friends who played the game, and I liked it much better that way. Like, if the Matrix was in Japanese without Subs it'd be ten times better.
Motorcycles rock.

I was just recently checking out some sites on this movie, and it looks really nice from what I have seen and heard from the screens and fansites/official site.

But, what I'm really worried about is, would I be confused with the plot, if I ever get the chance to see it when it comes to the U.S.?

I mean, I
still haven't finished FFVII (because of boring game-play, and I'm totally lost on the use of Materia), but I really liked the plot so far in the game, and the characters are pretty cool and interesting.
Anyway, this movie looks really cool, and the bad kid-guy with silver hair (Kadaj?sp?) and the small kids are pretty cute.
~~~~
SPOILER (OR NON-SPOILER for many?) from FVII game:
Yes, I
know Aeries(sp?) dies, even though I barely got through 1/3 of the game. Everyone seems to know that, FVII fan or not and told their friends.
....
I think that's about the
only FFVII spoiler I know.
Sad, yes. (I've only got as far as the train-yard-something-or-other... And, uh, yeah, that's as far as I got.. That's like, what, the beginning?
i just got the 2nd disc in FFVII the other day, and watched this movie before that, I was only slightly confused. like on the geostigma and "Mother" (jenova) and all that stuff. i still found it to be a great movie though
sry for double post, but i got to revive this.
i watched this movie again the other day and something happened to me that only happens when i waitch a movie too much (like princess mononoke...) i found a plot hole.
when Cloud was fixin to put the final blow on bahamut, he flew straight through Bahamut's mega flare, did he not? i dont believe it showed what happened to the mega flare, did it just disappear? did cloud kill it?
Megil Tel-Zeke
Oct 4 2005, 02:13 AM
Ah yes i had that question.
The only answer I had was that since bahamut died, as did the mega flare, dissipating out of existence with Bahamut. O.o not sure what happened to it.
Another question i had was what was the point of the cellphone scene. It is not like cloud is ever going to recover the phone. That was entirely pointless IMO.
did you understand what the wolf symbolized? it was said (and i agree) that the wolf symbolized Cloud's loneliness. you see it three times i think, once where Cloud's sword is, again at the forgotten capital, and finally when it disappears in the church. after which Cloud says "I'm not alone."
Megil Tel-Zeke
Oct 4 2005, 08:54 PM
aha aha the 'lone wolf'. could be. i just thought it was somehow linked to aeris, since everytime it ocurred aeris was somehow involved. welle xcept for the first time when it is by the sword. but later when cloud puts the sword back up he sayas "i'll live for your share too..." i thought he meant aeris.
then it happens next when the geostigam knocks cloud out at the church with tifa, as if it were watching over cloud.
then it appears next at the lost capital after the ointless cellphone scene, where aeris leaves cloud a message.
and the last tie is when cloud comes back to life. no doubt due to aeris again.
so i jsut linked it as Aeris's avatar int he world. her body of thoughts after her death.
dunno it could be symbolic of his loneliness.
Also as for the plot being confusing, i didn;t think so. I knew who mother was from teh beginning, there was only one thing it could have been IMO.
excuse my lack of understanding of FFVII but who is that guy that was with Aeris in the church when you finally got to see her face?
Megil Tel-Zeke
Oct 4 2005, 09:04 PM
I forget his name but i believe it is the soldier that aeris was in love with. I don't know much about him sry.
im with mergirl on game story, though i am going to retry the game after i finish FF VIII
Well in the game i believe she was in love with a chap called Zack, he was in SOLDIER.
I believe he was the guy Cloud was imprisoned with when they both got injected with Jenova cells in FFVII. The buster sword and the purple jumpsuit thing were both his, he gave cloud his spare one of the suits, and when he was killed protecting the two of them, Cloud took his sword.
thank you lone wolf.
Yah i got far enough in the game to know that Aeris was in love with Zack, but not far enough to find anything out about Zack.
Upon rewatching the film for the umpteenth time, I must say I appreciate the effort putinto it, but the plot is very shallow. Though i wills till enjoy it despite the fact.
Hehe, my knowledge comes from playing the game too much, and from watching a flashback triggered by those green tubes in the basement of the Shinra mansion, but i've only ever triggered it once because i can't remember how to do it again lol
Oct 4 2005, 09:28 PM
Oh i just rewatched the bahamuto scene.
if you notice the megaflare dissipates after cloud passes through it, when you get to the frame where you see clouds face after aeris pulls him through the flare, you notice in the backgoun that the blue flare has a hole in it and it spread ouwards until the flare dissapears. ^ ^
so the mystery of the vanishing megaflare is solved.
