hm, you know what? After playing it a little longer I've come to the following conclusion:
the graphics are great but the actual gameplay doesn't really differ a lot from any other RTS-Game I've played so far. I don't think I'm gonna buy it, instead I'll save my money for TES: Oblivion and get some nifty new CPU and graphic card. well, I'm off to play Earth2160 now again *kicks the AoE3-Demo into the trash bin*...

You have insulted the great A0E franchise! Kill! Murder! Pillage! Eat!

Anyways, I'll download it later, after I read this juicy bit of information on the Home Cities. Also the main reason it's alot like other games is its one of the original RTS's, and because we don't have all of the features yet. Though you have your right to opinion.

If he's a father and knows not to do regular downloads due to spyware hes probably good enough with computers to tell when a major demo is downloaded.

true I already downloaded one thing and I pressed my luck, but it was a harmless mod, used my own pc as a guini(sp) pig first though......

This is my official opinion..
The game rocks, but it still feels unfinished... something is missing but I can't tell what it is. Maybe that Age of Empire charm... who knows?
I am actually upset that they abondoned the previous campaign system.. I loved that.. I mean a story is ok but it seems a little to far fetched for the AOE series..

It's just a demo, but I know what you mean, it follows one single family.
Other than that, I think it perfectly fits the aoe experience. Nothing quite more fun than massing troops for a giant bloody battle.
Nice touches: Your guys cheer when they win. Your guys moving in groups so that you can tell who's winning a battle and who's losing, physics apply to buildings that are ebign destroyed.
Things I don't like: Deforestation takes lilke ten seconds, the damned trains are annoying
